I'll just say this. Cardboard is a weak investment vehicle. Cardboard doesnt pay dividends. Cardboard can't be borrowed against. Cardboard doesn’t have equity. Don't invest in cardboard ladies and gentlemen. Collectables are a notoriously risky investment, espeically in relatively niché hobbies like Yu-Gi-Oh. Outside of the O.G. Duel Monsters and a few other Anime Archetypes, there's just not a lot of stability there. Gotta let it be. Hobby money is fun money. Only spend/risk what you're OK with losing.
I actually whole heartedly agree with you! I find it both cringy and stupid when someone does a "my half a million dollar collection" (or something similar) because they could invest that and be retired in 10 years given average returns!
However, the real criticism is in Konami purposely and knowingly shafting collectors just to make money. They didn't tend to do this before. Or at least not as frequently
Card investment is one of the silliest things I seen. Invest into real estate
I agree, thats why I dont watch market channels. All the skills you have in pricing cardboard could be used for actual shit like stocks or tax rates, but they waste it on talking about which $30 card is gonna be hot in a few days. As someone whose poor with numbers, I shake my heads at those who waste their time on this..
The game needs a lower power flagship format that gives Konami room to breathe in core set design. The burden of power creep on modern core sets polarizes them so hard that they're almost always wrapping paper for the one or two relevant ultra/secrets that probably aren't showing up in the boxes people would grab off the shelf at an LGS. The vast majority of cards in every set has zero purpose and the weight of the purpose for the actually impactful cards is so heavy that they have to carry sets on their own and Konami knows it. The game itself is way too complicated for most casuals and opening products feels awful. They can fix both problems with a renewed purpose for core sets being the vehicle for a lower powered standard format cards.
I wouldn't mind a parallel format that utilizes the ban list structure of Duel Links
By parallel I mean they take the same care for the format as the main one
And I agree, it would help sets quite a bit and have archetypes that aren't represented become viable 😃
The starlight problem comes from the 25th century lookin a bit to similar to starlight with just a stamp on it. Also yugioh has always been a game where you lose money in lol

But you are right, if players have to choose between yugioh and another TCG, there is very little keeping them within yugioh 😃
