The songs of the last 10 or 20 years CAN'T compare to a classic like this. Bands from this era had a purpose and a message to deliver. More important, their music, songs and lyrics, had meaning and soul! ALL of that is gone.
Well said! People are far too lazy for a long time, including artists, producers, engineers, and many other things of the music industry since those magical times.
My friend Rowdy Ricky Jones used to sing this at karaoke, with an amazingly powerful vocal that overwhelmed the whole pub! He’s not in good health now, but this song always reminds me of him, so I hope you’re doing well, good buddy!
When this track came out in '72 I was ten years old and remember everything that was getting airplay. Unfortunately in my neck of the woods (Canada, home of the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission, CRTC and their stifling Canadian Content "Can-Con" rule), this track never saw the light of day. I first heard it a year ago, fifty years late. My first thought was "Clapton sure was at the top of his game on this track" - only to find out it wasn't Clapton. Paul Kossoff was a suburb blues guitarist, and it's a shame he left us so soon.
But the country did produce some crackers namely Rush and Gordon Lightfoot ... you like me are finding stuff I've missed ... like early led zeppelin in some video in Germany or somewhere and Jethro Tull concert videos ... in the Covid lock down in 2020 I thought I could catch up and bought about 50 DVD's from Amazon plus loads I had already and not watched any as this place kept me busy doing 'stuff' and fixing things then was thrown in to teach surveying at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew to help them out via Zoom and person then got roped into another gig doing the school of Horticulture., again at Kew .... whew ... so I think life is passing me by ... and I'm 71 in two weeks, so even though I missed lots of music by being overseas I don't regret anything ... take care and keep safe ... cheers
I never realized/Knew that Paul Rogers of Bad Company was the singer in FREE. I simply recognized the VOICE listening to this Today, and recognized it. Thanx-much for this offering!
The non concert scenes are filmed in New York....such a lovely place🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Have been there numerous times, the rats are bigger than cats or small dogs...No joking.
I'm guessing the Bronx, urban renewal era. English band, don't know why the video is of New York. Unless the Finnish uploader made the video himself. Which still wouldn't explain why he chose to make a New York video of a UK band.
#EDDAMűvek copied a song from Free and put it on a 1979 album. Free - Wishing well from 1973 was taken by #Edda & made into "Minden Sarkon Álltam Már" in 1979. #hungarianrocks #budapest #hungary #music #musicstolen #stolensong #songstoren #Copyright #copywriting

yes
u mean at least 40 years plus
And don't forget rhythm
theres plenty of songs with meaningful lyrics if you look past the mainstream but even some of the popular songs have the lyrics if not the rhythm

One of the greatest rock songs ever written by one of the greatest bands with the best rock and blues singer ever.
When I was young I used to be in love with Paul Rodgers just by his voice

"Put up a fight you believe to be right" Superb song.
yeah us Brits did give the world many good songs from our tiny rainy Mary Poppins land.
How I love the long hair....
The song is brilliant!
Love and a peaceful world.
Poor Paul Kossoff, one of the great British rock guitarists, had it really bad...his addiction. Gone at 25. RIP Hopefully he's "All Right Now."
Yep""died on a plane of heroin addiction in 73...
Great song could listen to it all day

Greatest Rock Singer Ever
I heard this on the local radio today. Could hardly believe it. An oldies station.

Where was this filmed?
The non concert scenes are filmed in New York....such a lovely place🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Have been there numerous times, the rats are bigger than cats or small dogs...No joking.
where is the place that the last few frames are of?
I'm guessing the Bronx, urban renewal era. English band, don't know why the video is of New York. Unless the Finnish uploader made the video himself. Which still wouldn't explain why he chose to make a New York video of a UK band.
British bands tend to look upon USA, as epitomized by NYC in this video, as their spiritual destinations.
The FREE a Progressive Band

Blackfoot Wrote This Song
Musicians from Free wrote the lyrics and music.
Blackfoot covered it. I heard it first from the Blackfoot album too, but the writing credits belong to the members of Free.
Maggie McGill also did a great cover.
IT'S A CRACKER
