    F250 Tremor. For the man that pushes himself thru to the front of the line at the roadside ice cream stand, orders for the entire family, gets it wrong then blames the staff and everyone behind him for rushing him.

    I drove an E-350/450 moving truck with the de-tuned “eco” version of this engine from Oregon to Indiana. It was loaded to the brim with stuff from a pretty sizable 2 bedroom apartment, and I still managed to average 12mpg on that trip (it cracked 15mpg once we got to the plains of Iowa and Nebraska). After we unloaded it, I tried flooring it, and it was WAY faster than it had any business being!

    The 7.3 is probably the best option for the Super Duty at the moment. And that's not because the 6.7 Powerstroke is bad, it isn't, it's great, but given the $10-12.5K entry price to get it, the expensive maintenance, and now having to REMOVE THE CAB to work on the engine (Spoiler alert: The cab isn't designed to come off), it's just not an option for me anymore. And that's not even talking about the ridiculous emissions systems constantly strangling the thing, or being suddenly thrown into limp mode because of a faulty sensor or low DEF. The 7.3 makes great HP and torque and will be much simpler and cheaper to maintain throughout the life of the truck. I do really like the Tremor package on these trucks. Getting a front-end level and (almost) 35s from the factory is pretty sweet. And when they're worn out, there's room for 37s!! What's not to like? Being a taller guy, I think the Super Duty also has the best headroom when compared to Ram and GM HD trucks. I'm on my 3rd Ram, but I think my next truck will be a Super Duty.
    And no, I would NOT buy a truck that had been smoked in. Ever.

      It's all about where in the rev range it makes that power. The Coyote 5.0 makes power with revs, and the Godzilla makes it at low revs. It's also a pushrod engine to the Coyote's DOHC so it'll have less power density as well.

  • @garyray
    @garyray Před 8 měsíci +29

    The Tremor is an odd duck. You buy a Super Duty to tow/haul and the Tremor package reduces your ability to tow and haul, due to the tire size and suspension. It's not a huge reduction, but the offroadiness is counter to the trucks purpose. The Super Duty is also just too darn big off road, in most places. I've got a 2022 F350 Lariat with the 7.3 and 4.30. Also, 10mpg in mixed driving.

      Depending on how much space you need and what you carry. I can get a full size in many places the jeepers are surprised like how the hell you get back here. Depends on driving skill and how much you care about scratches and dents lol. I spend atleast 3 months camping hiking prospecting fishing and hunting with my truck as a base camp. Much of that time I have my family with me no way we could do what we do with anything less then a crew cab with 6 ' bed minimum. We don't hit jeep trails for fun only go where we need it's not a hobby but are lifestyle. Can put a atv or dirt bikes in the bed and go where no jeeps or sxs will go but mostly hike on foot as far away from trails and people as we can get. 37s and a winch will get you pretty damn far and honestly these trucks look bigger than they are. Super duty is same width as f150 and 6 inches narrower than raptor. Even the ram and tundra are wider then this. Turning radius ain't great definitely just back up when needed.

    Not a huge truck know it all, but why is it that they don´t just boost a little de 5.0 coyote instead of using a 7.3? in it´s base form it already makes almost the same numbers. Reliability? Torque? Because they can xD?

    • @AK_Ray

      Reliability and low end torque, you hook 18,000 lb to a boosted 5.0 and send it up a 7% grade for 4 minutes @65, It will blow before it reaches the top.

    Definitely need the HO diesel 500hp 1200ftlbtq. it smashes the godzilla. Only reason 7.3 gas is made is for the people that want a gas heavy duty and still need torque. yes torque is nothing compared to the diesels. and yes a supercharged v8 5.0 would make 700hp hell 1200whp if pushed being 2 basically2 honda vtec motors welded together. but it cant make that deep low end torque of a pushrod v8. Old technology that most have gotten away from in going DOHC variable cam timing. aka vtec!! nobody is swapping them and if they do they like LS guys and eveen hemi guys are pulling these swaps to go coyote to go fast. or for towing go diesel and even for speed new HO ford diesels are running 14s in 1/4 mile and thats the heavier f350 7500to 8500lbs dually maybe more weight. its a 80s and early 90s sports and muscle car killer!!

    • @AK_Ray
      @AK_Ray Před 8 měsíci

      No dude, actually very few people need the HO diesel. The reason the 7.3 is made is because 99% of super duty owners don't actually need a diesel for what they do, Plus they don't want to spend between 10 and 12,000 more on initial purchase price. Not to mention all modern diesels are unreliable piles of shit.

    • @FlyingAceAV8B
      @FlyingAceAV8B Před 8 měsíci +4

      I don’t care for diesel and it’s endless problems. This engine will do more than enough for me for the next 15 years. Most of you driving around with 1200lb-ft of torque don’t need it to carry 4 sheets of plywood.

      Having an engine built for high power but under tuning it gives way for very long term reliability. Think of it like having the ability to run but choosing to walk, the wear down will take much longer. Even though it may be a ford😅.

    • @samdavidowicz
      @samdavidowicz Před 8 měsíci +22

      This engine is understressed because Ford has designed it to be able to last hundreds of thousands of miles towing heavy loads. You can get a supercharger that will enable it to make close to 700hp. So the potential for big power is there.
