Thank you for being honest. I was getting really tired of all the youtubers showing off hashcat or john making it seem as if this is actually possible. Bottom line is that without the key, it takes about a billion years to brute force a 128bit key. You can only really do this for "fun" and your bitlocker to go password or recovery key must be in that list. I've had a PC running hashcat for months now looking for a simple 8 character random alphanumeric password on a test bitlocker to go drive. Either I'm doing something wrong or it just can't do it.
Do you use Hashcat? what is your command line and hash value?
my hash extraction only has $bitlocker$2$ & $bitlocker$3$, can this be used together? How does one generate a wordlist, how do I know where to find the mask? My Bitlocker recovery options doesn't have a "More options" option to choose "Recovery Key".

How can I generate the password list? I tried to brute force it but it will take too long.
Read the end. Unless a password was added as a Key Protector, you must spend the 300 trillion years or so bruteforcing the recovery key.

Thank you but i have a problem... JohnTheRipper find a recovery key but when i try to unlock my drive with it, it doesn't work at all (not the good key)...
How it's possible? I try to do all process 2 times to be sure of all steps and same result in the end with same wrong recovery key. Thank you for your future help :)

Great Video! Thanks!. I have my recovery hash, but john runs for about 5 minutes and ends without providing any possible candidates. Tried with hashcat as well, returned a salt value exception. Any idea what could be the problem?
Did you figure out the problem? Same thing happened on my end with no recovery key generated.

@@rajagopaljagan I wonder if the creator of this video could try our recovery hash to see if it spits out a recovery key. I paused the video and copied his hash and still nothing on my end. Don't have much knowledge of this stuff so I don't know what else to do.

You need to make your own wordlist and add the key to it.

@@developakr I followed all the steps and I have a intel UHD Graphic, I have copy/paste the OpenCL file in the System32 folder and modified the link in the vendor folder. Same error message. Is it not working because I don't have a Nvidia? Do you have a solution? I don't mind to wait weeks because my grafic card is poor.

The disk you are using isn't enough large for the image you want to create... for example. If I'm using a external drive of 32GB with a "Windows To Go" partition to follow the steps, but I want to create a image of a Disk of 250GB, I can't create the image inside the external drive of 32GB, because the disk you are using (32GB) is lesser than the disk that you're trying to create and get image (250GB)... You need to save the image of the disk in the disk imager program in a disk with more GB of storage than the disk you try to get image, if not it will fail...
I am using this right now on a 476 gb hdd image, but its running for 2 hours now, and still no password hash. is this normal or do i need to have some patience?
