Oh yes, the Golden Fries of McDonalds. That stuff is pure salt and potato all wrapped nicely for you and everyone. Such good fries overall, never disappoints.
@Pilotman Why dont you ask for fresh fries? It scares me that the common person does not ask for fresh food when they go to these " Fast food "places. Many years ago I ate from fast food places, and I always asked for fresh food. Then I go and put my eyes on the assemblers hands to see what he is doing. They used to always make the food correctly. I cook at home now, its better.
I remember when I was a little kid, when I was at a McDonald’s and my mom just took our order, I looked around and could see the people working in the back. There was a young man working on the fries like in the video. I remember being in awe of how fast they were working. This video just reminded me of that memory.
Currently working at McDonald's Australia rn, and the fries I think are the most underappreciated things. Working at this station is alright, but tough work when it's just you. Having to make sure the fry dispensor is always full, getting new fry boxes, actually frying multiple baskets for nearly three minutes during a busy day is an easy way to put a lot of stress and pressure onto you. Ain't a good job, and soon I'll have to do seven hours of fries.
If you don't mind me asking out of curiosity - is there an automatic timer of the fry frier or do people have to manually keep track of time, can you explain it to me how it works?
@@LovelyLittleLillies We have a timer of roughly 2 minutes and 50 seconds on fries, Hash Browns are approximately 2:30. Specifically on the fries, they go on "duty" at 2:25 where we'll need to press a button so it stops beeping then give it a little shake. After that you basically let them be, give em a shake if you want or do something else until the timer goes out. However if you're in a rush, it's fully okay to pull the fries out with 30 seconds left, they're basically done by then.
This is my job exactly. God it warms my heart seeing people with the nice comments. Make sure to tell the person serving you thank you. They all work really hard.

Been working in Fastfood since I was 14 (I’m 23 now) and making fries is probably the chilliest position to be in but the one you sweat the most at 😅 I’ve worked McDonald’s, Burger King, a few street kitchens but currently working at a Swedish Fastfood chain called Max. Probably the best kitchen setup out of McDonalds, BK, Max take the top spot. Menu has healthy and very unhealthy options as well but all the food is really good, varies of course between different restaurants with different suppliers, but for the most part. I’d say for the most part it’s never about the work you do but the people around you that makes the job really fun and enjoyable. Then again… it’s also fun finishing 20 orders within 5-8 minutes (in the kitchen! You’re a real G if you can do that in the register)
Honestly prefer them not loaded all the way... they're preventing me from being a fat fuck LOL. Besides, if you're a normal human being, those fries at the end are cold anyways by the time you get to them.
I love how precise everything is from how products are packaged, the specifically designed food handling utensils, and cooking process. By the way, hot fries right out of the fryer is a nice way to end a long commute home!
@@Rogar555 idk in germany mostly they seem honestly fine most of the time, some are undercooked and some are oversalted or undersalted but they still have nice consistency imo
As a person who has fry duty at Arby's, I commend you on how full you make the cartons. I try to do that and my managers always say "just let the fries fall in, dont try to force them" but if I don't, the customer doesn't get what they're paying for. I'm also reeeaaaally jealous of the automatic basket filler :/
I had no idea there was a machine that existed that is basically an ice dispenser for french fries. Very cool! Sure beats having to open and close a freezer all the time and tear open bag after bag, and risk the paper style bags ripping in the summer from all the condensation.
I worked at McDonalds all through high school (2000-2004). Watching your videos ensures me that I could go back there and not need to be trained 😂 was a great first job for sure.
Haha no worries buddy! It’s 36 years for me!! It was a grill call…. Lay 12 hamburger patties, then when you turn them lay 6 Big Macs (12 Pattie’s again) then keep alternating between 12 and 6 every turn. When it got crazy busy you would go 12/6 continuously lay which meant you had 24 burgers cooking on same side and you just keep putting down more!!! Good times!!
@@ArtieLovesPancakes143 I guess I remember that being called “batch cooking”. Drop 1/4 pound patties first, then reg patties. Reg patties would cook faster and come up first. By the time you seasoned, stacked and put in warmer, the 1/4 pound patties would be coming up.
I know this all too well! 😂 I work at a McDonald’s and I’m mostly on fry duty, and I try my absolute best to get the station to be as full as possible :D
This brings back memories for me. I was 27. I just got my first apartment after struggling with alcoholism for a very long time. Mainly had me on fries because I was quick and filled them right. Those were some of the most peaceful days of my life... I miss them.

I found the small details, like the fries holder cartoon making a "folding" sound when it was unflattened, really satisfying And its actually kinda crazy just how efficient McDonalds has made its food production. From that very useful fries scooper design to even the salt dispenser.
Yeah honestly, I work at a small food place that's part of a chain of kiosk. Think 7/11 with a proper grill and stuff. I'd kill for the entire food making process to be more streamlined and efficient.
The "tools" they use are generic restaurant equipment. That scoop is a "universal" design for fry scoops and salt shaker is same... BK even uses the same salt shaker. Now where McD is "unique" is in its actual machines they use... from the clamshell presses on the grills that is literally like having 2 grills cooking the burgers at the same time to the fry hopper (which is not exclusive to McD but most places don't spend the extra $$ to get them) to the drink robot (which again is not exclusive to McD because you CAN get them in resturant supply companies). This is where McD separates themselves from the others.. in its automation... but the utensils and tools they use are generic resturant equipment that every place uses.... kind of like the coffee makers that EVERY place has... and 99.9% of them have the same NAME on them as well... BUNN. You can go into any resturant and say "I need some BUNN water" and they will more than likely know you want some hot water from the water spigot on the coffee maker. MCD does have a fry scoop that has a smaller cuttout on the bottom of it so that it can work like the normal generic scoop but can also fit inside the TINY kids size boxes they have though... the ones you can barely get a finger inside it lol.
I am a 16 year old boy and I've worked at McDonalds for a year in the busiest building in Atlantic Canada. You’ve gotta appreciate how they don’t skimp out on the fries or be lazy at 2:26 he could’ve easily left it with one scoop but he did two and put more in
Props to S Patula for the insanely good camera quality. I don't know why, but this is really satisfying to watch even if the job is by conventional wisdom not something people seek out. I guess the issues surrounding living wages and whatnot don't necessarily mean the job itself would be bad.
Kind of surprised that one basket of fries only fills a few orders of fries. Then again, compared to my local McDonald's, you were pretty generous in filling those orders pretty full. How many baskets of fries do you have to keep going in the fryer to keep up during peak times?
I don't work at McD's but have a good sense as to how foodservice works. During peak hours, you'll likely see all fryers used in a rotation. You've got high-temp fat being introduced with frozen or even refrigerated product. Fryers, like most equipment, have recovery times. That is to get the base heating unit (in this example - fat or grease) to consistently produce a good product within a certain amount of time. Overload that cooking unit over and over again, and performance goes downward. So that's when you know to open up the 2nd or even 3rd fryers - distribute the breakdown and get better recovery.
@@mil2k11 You can see that even though they weren't busy he was rotating through the fryers as he dropped the baskets. At the start of the video there was a basket in fryer 3, and then he dropped his next two baskets in fryers 1 and 2.
When you first get them and they’re hot they’re usually good-to-excellent. You basically have to eat them right away because they get cold so quickly. Fries + McDoubles…. Yum

I used to worked at McD's and the fries line is the hardest. You have to move non stop and be so fast to have the fries ready to be picked for the customers. So much respect for this guy.
I work right across from the fries and the guy who works there is ALWAYS busy, major respect for keeping up on it
I worked there in the days we still had the sandwich racks with premade burgers on them. I gained like 30lbs in the year I worked there because we could eat whatever was left in the racks at close, lol.
im currently working at maccies and im always on fries, id probably say it is the hardest station but not by that much, being on the actual food prep line is also hard but atleast the work load is spread across 3-4 people
I got told that it was the easiest when I started working there, and all of the workers who were too slow got jeered at because it was "easy". I believed it until I went on fry duty during rush hour, at a McDonalds station next to a central motorway. Was a bit of a rude awakening
I always thought meat was the worst... I hardly ever worked the fry station tho... they usually had people up front run that, I preferred the backline

Oh yes, the Golden Fries of McDonalds. That stuff is pure salt and potato all wrapped nicely for you and everyone. Such good fries overall, never disappoints.
Yeah, mcdonalds makes soggy fries much better
pretty much 70% of the fries I got is unsalted for some reason
@Slimeladder i like soggy fries better
you forgot the beef spray they use on the fries

My brief work as a dishwasher for several months gave me an everlasting respect for all fast food/service workers in general.
I found the small details, like the fries holder cartoon making a "folding" sound when it was unflattened, really satisfying
And its actually kinda crazy just how efficient McDonalds has made its food production. From that very useful fries scooper design to even the salt dispenser.
Yeah honestly, I work at a small food place that's part of a chain of kiosk. Think 7/11 with a proper grill and stuff. I'd kill for the entire food making process to be more streamlined and efficient.
That’s everywhere not just
McDonald’s dude
I hope he made another fries pov but longer it's so satisfying to watch 💀
Kind of surprised that one basket of fries only fills a few orders of fries. Then again, compared to my local McDonald's, you were pretty generous in filling those orders pretty full. How many baskets of fries do you have to keep going in the fryer to keep up during peak times?
We can adjust the size of the basket according to how busy we are! Also we can drop up to 6 baskets here at a time!
@@mil2k11 this is a science
@@StephenPatula hey man I have a question. Is you McDonald’s absolutely MASSIVE. Or is it just me?
@@mil2k11 You can see that even though they weren't busy he was rotating through the fryers as he dropped the baskets. At the start of the video there was a basket in fryer 3, and then he dropped his next two baskets in fryers 1 and 2.
