The state and the bus needs to pay their tech workers much more to get good qualified cyber techs. They also need to invest more into their infrastructure, hackers are smart and some do it for no money just the thrills.

Good. Everyone has become so dependent/spoiled by the web, that it's only a matter of time before they will be hacked. I'm sure all information is now for sale and all personal information will be hacked to. I wish these hackers would hack into the whole gooberment here. Maybe they could put out all the corruption going on "behind the scenes".

It is unbelievably stupid to put anything on a computer. And then to have it on the internet! Stupid beyond belief.

I reckon it's because of how Hawaii was hosting the festival of pacific arts and culture in which Taiwan was included.

I love hono..my theory is the black outs etc are cyber attack. Listen, it is factually correct possible that a hacker can make your phone get extremely hot and even destroying your phones board inside and making your phone useless. So it is possible the power grid circuit board were compromised causing the cables to heat up ultimately spontaneous combusting and burning..same for the bus system, the system gets compromised. Make no mistake, this is not a coincidence. That's merely my theory. Hope hono recovers.

As someone who works in IT and does cybersecurity, this is unlikely for the power grid. Cyber attacks from nation states tend to have a stealth goal because intel is much more important than causing trouble. If they're going to blow stuff up, it has to be for a good reason, and downtown is not a good target. They would almost certainly target the military instead. Also, since the bus hack was a ransomware attack this was most likely a criminal organization, because extorting money is the explicit goal of ransomware.
