for broody birds, you can let it sit in a bucket of cool water for an hour, then isolate it for a day. It will then stop.
We actually tried the cold water thing, though for less than a minute. I also wrote a blogpost about that some years ago. For whatever reason, it didn't work for them. Maybe not long enough though.

People are abandoning cage in the USA for deep litter.
Very true. But it would take a long time before we can adopt that for commercial production in Nigeria. Land is expensive and funding is a miracle you don't see everyday
