- Worked well initially but was disappointed to see lack lustre performance over time, this C500 is a waterproof upgrade over my existing C200 and yet this feels like a much older product due to its poor performance and response times. Has RTSP and is IP certified for water protection, but does not impress.

Disable hardware acceleration in advanced settings to get rid of lag! 💡Just bought a C500 and experience the same problem. It's definitely not a signal issue, I still have it next to the router. Played around in settings and discovered this easy fix. Don't know yet if it has any drawbacks.

Settings (cog wheel, top right corner) --> Advanced settings --> Settings for display --> Compatible mode.

This no bad camera whatsoever... It's just minor hiccups that can be ironed out ... Trust me the TP Link app is by far the most stable compared to any other in its price range
we use wifi and its not reliable what i want to know is will it still continue recording to the sd card without internetadn can you connect via wire to your router@@rtechreviews

Thanks for your video review of this camera, very well presented and totally understand how much effort is needed to create such videos. I have a question relating to remote viewing of this camera via a mobile phone internet/data connection. I saw in your video you used VLC player not the Tapo App to view the camera. If you went to visit a friend out of town, say 50 miles away, can you use the Tapo App to watch/control/tilt the camera using your mobile phone internet/data connection? I ask that questions because I'm looking to purchase 4 Tapo C225 cameras. Obviously they will all be connected via the local WiFi network. I understand I need to install the Tapo App on my phone - but I want to view all cameras from a different physical location. Can the Tapo App connect to the cameras WiFi network via my phone using my mobile data connection?

Hi, for long distances is Ezviz C8PF? Can it's zoom cover 150m, does the zoom really make a difference in clearing things, for example a car plate number?
It's digital zoom and if it's a parked car yes maybe you can see the plate... Not for a moving one though
For a parked car yes maybe you can see the plate zoomed in if far, but a moving vehicle the chances of seeing the plate are remote
Which one is better for outdoor C500 or C320 ws or any other brand camera that supports wifi?
I guess the 320 may lack 360 movement but will certainly have better signal coverage
Agree. I am returning this camera. It triggers insanely to anything, wind, rain, snow, birds, mice... And at the same time often it doesn't trigger on person standing right in front the camera. Even when it triggers it happens with such delay, that a person already is out of camera sight. Please let me know if you found another camera that you like? Thanks.

No zoom.. just digital zoom and very less maybe 5x

It does record on an SD Card ... So you can infact pull off the card to view recordings with or without internet

Yes it will automatically reconnect... Think of the camera as another wifi device like a mobile or printer
I would set the camera to also reboot at the same time as your router. The option is in the settings of the camera. 😊

How to download particular clip ?? only record option is available in app and long press to download doesn't do anything
You will have to goto playback and edit and there you can download
@@rtechreviews there is no option i see called "playback and edit" but there is option "playback and download" but it that I have to record the saved recording in mobile and then it will save.There is no direct option to save clips.

It's not recording 24/7 and in motion tracking, I hope it goes back to base position after detecting the motion.

What bothers me about this camera is that it only captures 15 pictures per second, so the video isn't smooth. ??? Is there a delay in recording a video clip after detecting motion ?? that will prevent me from watching the entire motion from the start?
Yes there could be micro delays and those are annoying

The 500 is a waterproof camera, 200 is a basic indoor camera not water resistant. Guess you know by now which one to go for

seriously this model have major problem. i have bad experience.. it always become offline by itself even my wifi router/modem is very close to it. the good about this cctv is nice image will produce.. then when you try to move the position of camera then its became offline after it laggy.. version now 1.1.2 means latest on February 2024.. but still no solution.. after severally restart and reset doing problem still not solve. blinking red..huhh..

It continues to work records on SD card...
bought 5 of this. 1 bricked after 1 use. Stucked at green blink light. I also bought 5 512sd card. it wont read even formatted to fat32. it only accepts 128gb and lower sd cards.
I think this supports 256

Sure its certainly not a bad product, it was laggy for some reason, not wifi for sure... Cos the moment I disabled hardware acceleration it started to work fine!

So disappointed with the way it is mounted. The screws supplied are not long enough and they just sit visible outside the mount. They should redesign … the screws should have space to go half way inside the mount- big fop-a

Gues it's the WiFi antenna... It's too weak as it's a built in system
The lagging might have to do something with the software of your router, which may be outdated. You also need to find out if the camera isn't far away from the router. Also, the broadband of your internet connection may also be a reason behind the lagging. Your ISP may help you in this regard.
None of the above... If you had seen the full video it was working well. It just slowed down. The signal also shows good in the TP link app. Broadband speed is above 150 MBPS with latest firmware. Eitherways... If this was an issue.. the app should warn that there's a connectivity issue.
Have you tested your upload speed? This is where your bandwidth comes into play.
Set your router to 2.4gHz only and see to it that it's now that far from the router
@@yusuke0703 just accept, this is as good as it gets with these cheap camera's. Have a few tapo c320ws, its not fantastic also.
Though yet, if you look at his Wi-Fi bars, he literally has only the dot, exact reason why.

Yes it does...you don't need to subscribe for the cloud service... Will work anywhere as long as the camera is online

If your NAS application does not officially support TP-Link Tapo cameras, try first as a generic Onvif camera and if it does not work then RTSP.
Onvif is needed for things like motion control and notifications. RTSP is only about the video feed (no controls).
Most security camera applications should support onvif.
The ip is visible in the camera app.
No need to look it up in the router.

You're wifi strength is probably why it was so laggy, your phone is barely connected when you are showing the camera rotation.
When I checked the app... It said signal was good ... That was the only reason i complained about the lag. Besides the camera was 8 feet higher as compared to my phone

You need to redo this video with "hardware acceleration" disabled show how to disable it in settings and redo all the AI function because it's laggy in this clip. Maybe in shorts.

I hate these cameras only record 15 fps. I want some ip camera with atleast 24 - 30 fps.

I thought this one would have a better microphone but I guess all tapo cameras have horrible microphones. I mean really horrible.. you could hear someone better through a phone than this crap.
It's just that they have basic omnidirectional mics like those on laptops and they are water shielded so that makes it worse
