I always find I wear less makeup in the summer. It's just so hot if feels like it melts off. An eyelash curler is totally worth it.

I’ve been cutting back gradually, but had a wonderful “oh those are pretty, I can afford them (it was dollar tree), I don’t have those shades, but I have enough makeup and I don’t want any more” moment last week!!! I am very happy to reach this point & figure this is the time to officially commit to a no-new-products-buy through 2024. I need to buy a car actually so I’d better lol!

I admire you! I think of makeup as a hobby and it sounds like you've made time for different hobbies instead. It doesn't mean you don't care about makeup it's just a season of life you're in.

Morning routines are great, but you might be subconsciously making more space for a new passion or project, I wouldn’t rush to fill in the morning routine quite yet. When I find myself sort of subconsciously guiding me in a new direction, I’ve learned in my old age to give myself a minute a figure out why I’ve changed or what I might be needing the time/energy for. With me, less interest in makeup has morphed into making time for a really healthy cooking routine!
I hear you, I have a renewed interest in cooking and recipes, plus I want to get back in shape as well. That's just seems more of a priority to me than cosmetics I guess. Or I have had the fun with the cosmetics, time to simplify it and move on and do other things, reading, whatever.

You look beautiful with your more natural look today! I also went over 4 months without any makeup purchase, however I just caved and bought the new Cosmic Brushes palettes on Friday.... opps! The were just too pretty 😍. Im going back to my no buy now though!😮

My interest in makeup stabilised and once I sorted out my closet, I moved on to nutrition and exercise from a wellness perspective.
I still enjoy my morning makeup routine on workdays but I need to work on my evening skincare routine. I have a chronic illness and am often exhausted at night.
I decided that I don’t want the ND Golden palette at any price. I bought the Viseart Petit Praline instead - I now have 11 palettes which includes 3 quads.

Best way to stick to a morning routine was to add my chill and watch tv to it. So i would sit down with my coffee/breakfast while watching stuff. Then slowly tack on other habits over the course of many months. Skincare ten minutes before, makeup during. I made it easier by keeping a box of my favourite products and a mirror next to my desk.

It was not long ago where I couldn't get enough beauty content, now I simply don't have the attention span for most of it. I don't mind a declutter here and there, a little project pan, videos like this discussing habits, no buy, and that's about it. I wear very little makeup to work, usually takes less than 5 minutes. I cannot be bothered with more than that with the drive, and getting my breakfast and lunch together because I am trying to limit takeout. On remote days I might be more apt to do more but even on those days, not doing a ton and not buying anything at all. Can't really justify it right now unless I run out of something. So I can identify with what you are saying.

I’m trying to cut back on the buying but it bothers me that this is hard. It started during the pandemic and just kept going. Before that I had very little makeup. I’m trying to mentally switch my mindset to minallism and frugality. Your video helps and more on this would be great! Much love♥️

I hit a slump with my makeup last year as well. I would only put it on when I was in the office.
But my current team has a lot of meetings with the camera on with a lot of other agencies so I have to make sure my makeup is done everyday now. Definitely helps my project pan progress haha.
I think you'll figure out a way to get back into a routine that works for you. If I have to do my skincare, I find myself putting on makeup as well because it only takes a few extra minutes.

I am on a low buy. It's been hard at times. Bit I've been pretty good. I don't need anything really. Maybe setting powders that's it! Love the eyelash curler looks nice.

Two thought processes that work for me when I’m tempted by the sales….(1) is the component recyclable, or is it landfill when empty, and then (2) how does the cost of that palette which is half price compare to… eg my monthly water bill 🤪 and would I rather have one years worth of water bill costs saved up than eg 4 eyeshadow palettes, however limited edition and desirable… that has helped me use what I already have!

Here’s a potential tip for your morning routine: if you always feel like you’d rather have extra sleep in the morning, go to sleep a little earlier and wake up earlier that way when you snooze your alarm you’ll still wake up “on time” and you can do your full morning routine. I always set my alarm earlier than when I need to wake up because the first alarm always feels the most difficult and I snooze it every time. 😂
That’s a good point I have definitely been staying up later mostly because it’s light out for longer this time of year. Definitely something to work on!
Been on a vlbuy since 2021. The only items I bought recently, face wash & eyebrow stuff, got cancelled due to low stock, LOL. I wouldn't push yourself into a full routine right away, I'd think about the one or two details that make you feel polished fast and stick to that till it doesn't feel like an imposition (for me that's brows and concealed undereyes). Sometimes it's good to remember that we're allowed to own gorgeous makeup even if we're not using it much atm. Maybe let yourself have a weekly makeup playtime that is not functional, just fun, like an evening date with your stash.

I had the same thoughts on the MD Gold pallet. I pulled my pallets out and duped it. I want it but......not till I'm through my two pallets that are super close. So at that rate it will be 2030 😂

I try my best doing a skincare no buy because overwhelming is an understatement. But every quarter I treat myself to french skincare and bodycare non subscription box.

I did a full beat every morning during serious lockdown and I think it was an attempt to feel normal maybe? But now that working from home feels more normal, I don’t crave that routine. Idk but I’ve been feeling the same as you lately and trying to figure out why.

Makeup addiction is a real thing. I am a recovering MU addict. Don’t laugh ok. I was into Sephora but now I’m into the dollar tree & I hv found some real treasures! I bought myself a lipliner from Sephora (I don’t want to trigger any1) as a treat and I decided to stan 3 brands. Adept cosmetics, blend bunny, & Natasha Denona I want to buy some odens with the money I’m saving up when Xmas comes. But I’m really into shopping my stash and I’m v happy w that! I don’t declutter just to get rid of stuff. I’m project panning too & I depotted some stuff to organize it. I try to watch vlogs on stuff I already own. I don’t buy drug store. I saw some1 put a Covergirl palette on sponsored for $13.99 are you kidding me????? I do my morning routine every morning it’s fun I want to use up skincare b4 it goes bad. I used up 6 bottles of half used perfumes this month & 2 fdtn. So I’m working thru this it!!!!!!!!! I’m doing low buy not no buy you could hv bought a normal lash curler & used a cigarettes lighter just a hack I use. But $10 isn’t bad. I did something different drastic I got curtain bangs like Sabrina carpenter! Good luck! Do something cheap that changed ur whole lewk helped me! $7 bangs at great clips. You are inspo!!!!

How are you doing? Like really on a day to day basis. It’s one thing to walk away a little from one hobby but it’s a totally different thing to not have a routine and the day to day steps. You said it was a negative. Maybe talk to your doctor if it’s regarding a different depression stream? We love and care about you! ❤ Only want you to be happy AND healthy!!

There is a lady on YT who basically documents how she's just using up her makeup stash without buying new makeup. I think she's on year 4 or 5 now, because she had been buying so much makeup.
