    My Volvo C30 and a lot of 2 litre Volvos also use this engine. Thanks for the video.

    So as long as you keep a wrench holding it in place, there's no need to mess with the timing. Makes sense, thanks!

    hope you replaced the friction washers behind the cam sprockets and one behind crank sprocket and one between crank sprocket and pulley. its important you replace them if you loosen any of it

    • @barrettgarage1088
      @barrettgarage1088  Před 2 lety

      There was washers in the kit I used but the non turbo motors do not require them there were no washers when I took it apart or together, that being said I have looked through my haynes manual I use for this car for situations like this and it does not show a friction washer on the 2.0 or 2.3 n/a engine they only on the turbo 2.3 that came in the speed3

      @@barrettgarage1088 got you. those are the minor inconsistencies of these engines. my 2010 2.5L that im swapping in has friction washers on both cam s and crank

      @@barrettgarage1088 YOU ARE WRONG!! They are there on the NA motor. and without them You will stuff your motor up.... 2 years later Im guessing you found this out already.

    you have made a serious mistake in this video and it should be removed.
    You havent mentioned the ultra thin diamond crush washers that go between the the crank and timing gear and timing gear and harmonic balancer or the ones that are fitted to you cam under the sprockets !!WITHOUT THEM YOUR MOTOR WILL BE DAMAGED!!. Nor did you mention the top dead center tool to lock the crank.

    • @barrettgarage1088
      @barrettgarage1088  Před 10 měsíci

      Watch the other videos I did mention all of that. And my motor has ran perfectly with a teenage boy having the car treating it like shit but it's still good. Everything I did was by the book. The Haynes manual has everything I said so you are wrong.

      My crank has turned. I did not know about the top dead center tool. So how do i fix this crank not in time with the cams??

    • @barrettgarage1088
      @barrettgarage1088  Před 8 měsíci

      @chamblee205 take your number one spark plug out and put something that won't damage the piston like a wood dowel or plastic stick and rotate until the piston is at the top that will be top dead center then you can lock the crank pulley and timing chain there. With the engine not running there's no centrifugal force so you shouldn't make contact with the valves or damage them.

      @@chamblee306be careful, after the timing chain is off, you cannot rotate the crank or cams much without risking engine damage

    Ok, so how did you get the oil pump chain over both of the toothed wherls?

    • @barrettgarage1088

      Put the chain on sprockets then slid them onto the shafts.

      @Barrett Garage I gave you a thumbs up on this, not a thumbs down. It was an error on my part. Thank you for this. You must know how much of an idiot I felt like once I figured this out the other night. The most obvious and easiest resolution right under my nose, and I completely missed it until I didn't. Thank you.

    • @barrettgarage1088
      @barrettgarage1088  Před rokem

      It doesn't get timed, this is not the timing chain, that is behind this chain on the crankshaft.
