I think Joe Girardi said it best. Assad’s “stuff” was so bad in the minors that he actually had to learn how to pitch. He couldn’t rely on just blowing people away. Assad has six pitches and he can locate all of them and feels comfortable using all of them in any situation. Old school pitcher.

since no one is gonna say it, I'll say it:
If umps are gonna crackdown on players who are just using sweat and rosin, then they should just get rid of the rosin bag at this point
The issue is that Rosin is actually beneficial for the game in general. If a pitcher has better control on the ball, we're not going to see a lot of bad hit by pitches or wild pitches. More control is a good thing. But as the viral Trevor Bauer clip shows, rosin and sweat can be just as bad as spider tack. They need to just come up with a scale saying "This is how sticky you can be. Anything more, then it's a warning, then an ejection." Also, I still feel like none of the umpire groups are consistent with each other. "Stickiest thing I've ever felt" should not be the standard lmao

Growing up a Giants fan, the broadcasters Krukow and Kuiper ALWAYS made it clear that fans of all ages should bring gloves to the games. To my shock, most other broadcasters and commenters think bringing the gloves to games as an adult is lame. I love it.

The absolute lack of any scientific standards or evidentiary requirements with the sticky stuff is amazing. If only this poor dirt league could afford to rent some lab time and a single forensic chemist. You get more scientific rigor with a Walmart piss test.
