I think now you understand that Taylor is a genius at capturing moments. Every song isn't for everyone but most people would find some great songs they relate to if they took a few minutes to listen. It makes me feel sorry for people that prejudge so hard that they don't give her music a chance because I think "What other great things in life are they missing because they are holding on to an opinion based on their prejudices".
A HUGE amount of people do that with Taylor. She is the most loved and hated artist. I am very happy people who didn't give her a chance are doing it now. If they don't like her music that is fine.

The clip of her getting her first guitar reminds me of a Christmas commercial we had here in the UK which starts out with Elton John sat at a piano playing Your Song and it goes back through his life as the ad goes on until it gets to him getting his first piano as a kid and it says "Some gifts are more than just a gift" and it made me sob every time I saw it 😂

Ok you need to listen to "the best day" with the lyric video up on screen. It's a song she wrote for her mum (but also appreciates her brother and father and family) and I think you'd really appreciate it!

My parents gave me my first guitar Christmas 1971. That started a lifelong passion for folk music.
It’s funny that you mentioned Phoebe and smelly cat since she actually sang it with Taylor on the 1989 world tour
lol like a lot of young children, they gave Taylor too big of a guitar. For a kid her size, get a travel size(1/2 or 3/4 size) so there is less tension on the strings. She put it aside and never went back to that one; she got a different one when she was 12 and learning guitar. When she was 15 or so, Taylor Guitars featured her at a trade show (NAMM -- North American Assoc. of Music Merchants: a big show for musicians/audio engineers). The videos of that are still on youtube. Taylor Guitars made that koa guitar with her name on it, and the blue one with the koi fish decorations. When she was touring for Fearless, she got a Baby Taylor (3/4 size dreadnought shape) to use on the bus; she gave them a signature pattern for that guitar, that they still use 16 years later. (It has her signature, and LOVE LOVE LOVE in a fancy script around the soundhole).
This is my favorite Christmas song, this is Taylor's 3rd Christmas song. She did a Christmas album, with 2 original songs and the rest were covers. Christmas must mean something more and Christmas when you were mine.
This is a great Xmas song. And every time I see that clip of her getting that guitar, I literally just cry. You never know when that one gift could end up shaping the person they will become later on in life. It's very moving.
It was just a simple guitar. The parents didn't know that this was gonna be the way their daughter would express herself and gift the world with her music. A kind of music that helps them in whatever way. Whether to heal, grow, learn and see their lives from a different perspective. Taylor has always brightened people's lives because she was always surrounded by the love from her family. And that's what she puts out into the world. That's admirable and that's why I have nothing but love and respect for Taylor.

You should watch Taylor's video The Best Day. It is so heartwarming. It has home videos too. The song is a sweet song about her family, mostly her Mom. It starts with Taylor as baby and ends at the time she wrote it.
Christmas Tree Farm is criminally underrated, like you, I love how it cherishes the magic of those memories as a kid.

I got a guitar from Santa when I was about 11 and was too frustrated to learn. Eventually my brother picked it up and ended up being in a band for awhile. He gave it to my musician husband, who played it forever on many albums. My son picked it up during Covid lockdown and now he’s 16 and such a good musician that we are in awe! You just never know. That clip of Taylor getting the guitar makes me burst into tears every time! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I agree with you that this is a great Christmas song. And it is much better than MC's song. Part of that though, is that we've been subjected Mariah's song for years during Christmas. It's always on every radio channel, played in every Mall and department store. Even in hold music. Ugh! But ignoring that, I think Taylor's song is much better anyway. And it has the added benefit of not making people who are alone, feel all that much more alone. The fact that it's about an actual place from Taylor's past is a bonus.
I have always loved All I Want for Christmas is You by Vince Vance and the Valliant's (not even close to the same song as Mariah's).

I was muttering to myself about being just SO worried about not making my daughter’s present well enough (I can’t afford the real deal, so I gotta do homemade), and she immediately jumped in with, “I’ll love anything I get! Especially if it’s from you.” Without even looking up from Roblox. 😂 I used a laughing emoji, but actually it made me cry when she said it.

My 6yo is just so wonderful. This “Christmas Tree Farm” song is actually her favorite-she’s been singing it all week. That’s a surefire way to make me love a song, haha. I’m sure you get it as a parent, right? Any song is automatically ten times better if my daughter is the one singing it, haha.
