  • Central Kalahari Game Reserve;
    As the sun rises, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve comes alive with the resounding roars of its majestic inhabitants, the undisputed rulers of this untamed realm. We arrived in this majestic wilderness after spending a couple of days at Khama Rhino Sanctuary.
    The roads were completely flooded and this made it very slow going, taking us more than three hours just to reach the Matswere gate Welcome to an epic overlanding journey through the captivating landscapes of Botswana's Central Kalahari Game Reserve.
    We explore this untamed paradise, unraveling its remarkable wildlife and diverse ecosystems. Stretching across vast horizons, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve embodies the enigmatic spirit of the Kalahari Desert. Its ancient sands whisper tales of survival, adaptation, and the indomitable will of nature. We immerse ourselves in its mysteries, unveiling a realm of unparalleled wonder. As we traverse the rugged terrain, the dust-laden trails lead us further into the heart of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The allure of the unknown pulls us deeper into its wild embrace. Each turn reveals a new vista, captivating us with the sheer vastness of this untamed paradise.
    The cheetah, known for its incredible speed and sleek physique, is a remarkable creature that has adapted to the harsh habitat of the CKGR. The short green grasslands serve as an ideal hunting ground for the cheetah. The open terrain provides them with an unobstructed view of their surroundings, allowing them to spot potential prey from a distance. It effortlessly blends with the vibrant surroundings, creating a mesmerizing sight. The contrast of the cheetah's golden coat against the lush green grass and backdrop creates a striking image that captivates the imagination.
    Deep within the Central Kalahari Game Reserve lies a hidden gem-Passarge Valley. We venture into the mesmerizing expanse of the valley, discovering an oasis of life amidst the arid wilderness. Its lush vegetation and secret water sources provide sanctuary for a multitude of wildlife, enchanting us with their presence. Passarge valley is truly a remarkable stretch in the CKGR. We were pleasantly surprised with all the game and youngsters in the area. The birdlife is also fantastic, but you must sit back and take your time to actually find them. The secluded and private campsites are some of the best in the park though.
    Leopard pan is often overlooked when visiting the CKGR. There is a great deal of game and predators frequently visit this pan. A Bonus is that there is only one campsite at the edge of the pan.
    Khumaga Camp in the Makgadikgadi National Park;
    The river road has views over the Boteti River where most of the animals congregate, and the views are just stunning The night critters decided to join us for our braai. Always wear closed shoes when out in the dark at night. Camping in Khumaga allows you to truly connect with nature. Falling asleep to the gentle sounds of the river and waking up to a chorus of birdsong creates a sense of serenity and harmony with the environment. It's an opportunity to experience the magic of the African wilderness firsthand. Khumaga, with the majestic Boteti River and breathtakingly beautiful views, is a destination that promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of nature. Whether you're an avid wildlife enthusiast, a bird lover, or someone seeking solace in the beauty of the natural world, this extraordinary place offers an unparalleled experience that will leave you in awe of the beauty Botswana has to offer.

    I think I am experiencing some extreme 'lens envy'! Your wildlife shots are amazing. I also enjoy seeing how you deal with the camper trailer as my wife and I are going to ship our classic Defender and Aussie camper trailer down to S.A. to spend a year in southern Africa, hopefully in '24 or '25. Thanks for showing us some of the places we intend to go! Cheers.

    What wonderful places, presented in a very informative, great video. As a German with only mediocre English, I was able to follow the stories in your pleasant voice and your clear pronunciation wonderfully. May I ask you - did you made your campsite bookings in advance, or did you enter the park gates without any reservations? Best regards, Henning

    It's in the Kalahari where Yashua/Jesus will be lowering down His New Jerusalem, somewhere after 1 May 2025, very few will make it to see this Glorious event. Gaia earth will topple soon, when wormwood strikes, North will become the new South & the Kalahari will be on top....if you want to make it, you need to hold Abba Father's hand very tightly & He will keep you perfectly safe against His Fatherly chest...;-)))

      Hi. Thanks for watching. Magotho is an awesome place. Heading there again in Sept.
      I use my D500 with some zoom lenses. It is mostly a photo body, but does a decent job to capture footage.
      All the equipment I use is in the video and orher videos’ description

    Hi Guys. Love your videos. Lots of insight for our upcoming tour. Do ye travel with water on board the Companion or do you empty out the tanks?

    • @OurLifeInAfrica
      @OurLifeInAfrica  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi. Thanks for the comment.
      We always try to keep the tanks full. It creates a lower center of gravity making the companion more stable on the open road.
      Thanks for watching

    Really great videos. I was curious I was thinking of doing to tour of Botswana in December. Would you recommend that time of the year for your trip to to Africa? Or maybe wait until the dry season?

    • @OurLifeInAfrica
      @OurLifeInAfrica  Před 10 měsíci

      We don’t mind doing it in the wet season. The video was also made in December. Best time would be end of winter(just our opinion), but doing it when the opportunity arises is always the best time.
      Thanks for watching

    Very nicely done. We can see you put a lot of effort into editing this one. Great footage and camera work helped by great sightings. How many days where you in CKGR? Did you make it to Tau? It seems like a long way to go if you just there two nights like I will be.🤙

    • @OurLifeInAfrica
      @OurLifeInAfrica  Před rokem +1

      Thanks. Editing does take a long time. The sightings of the CKGR helped out a lot. We stayed 4 nights in one spot and mostly explored deception valley. We did get very close to Tau camp the one day, but it is a long and slow drive. Two nights are better than none. Sure you will have a blast.
      Thanks for watching

      @@OurLifeInAfrica Thanks will skip Tau pan then. I am actually only in Deception 2 nights. Then piper, Xaxa Maharushele, Molose and then Khutse 2. So actually 7 nights in the park in total. 🤙
