    I'm in west central Florida, about an hour north of Tampa. We had 24° this winter and everything survived but had to chop the papya down to shoulder height. Hope it grows back. Even if I don't get fruit, it's a beautiful tree and helps with some shade.

      Hello Chuck. The move is keeping us very busy. Many upkeeping are still being done on both houses. We are still trying to keep the garden work in the picture. Thank you, so nice to read a comment from you.

      Thank you for the invitation. Unfortunately, the extent of my activities at present are very limited. I'd appreciate any question you might have, and I will do my very best to answer them.

    What is the coldest temperature the Papayas experienced in the winter in the greenhouse last winter? Also did the ones outside survive? Did you protect them with anything during the cold spells?

    Good afternoon Jo. Great to hear from you again. I thought you had moved to the Philippines. We hope to return this year. We had hoped to return last year as well. All we can do is pray. Stay well. Best wishes Bob.

      What a wonderful idea Bob. However, I will not be traveling too far for a good while yet. I, however, am praying and hoping for you and Mel to finally make your move to the Philippines. I will be very happy to see you both settled there. Will keep praying and hoping for the best.

      In my cooking channel "JoCanCook" I believe I have at least two recipes using green papaya. I will try to introduce another recipe soon as a find time. Let me know if you tried any of those recipes from my cooking channel. I will be presenting several recipes using papaya.

    I had a couple of cold nights in the low thirties and the leaves are wilted looking. The tree is about 4 feet tall in a container. You think it will comeback and survive?

    • @cultivatingorganicbyjomig1719
      @cultivatingorganicbyjomig1719  Před 2 lety +1

      Plants in a container oftentimes require more and careful attention. If it's outdoor, I suggest that you bring it indoor. Give it good watering of tepid water mix with fish emulsion and kelp extract. 1 gal. water and .5 tsp kelp extract, .5 tsp fish emulsion. If it's already indoor do the same treatment. I suggest that the indoor temperature is no less than 60 degree fahrenheit. Good drainage is a must. If the tree bounce back allow the soil to the dry a little then repeat the treatment doubling the amount of fish and kelp extract.

    Another question what is your secret in growing beautiful papayas

    • @cultivatingorganicbyjomig1719
      @cultivatingorganicbyjomig1719  Před 2 lety +3

      Careful watering and fertilizing are important. However, because it is my intention to share what I do to keep my garden healthy and productive, I don't believe I have any secret as far as my gardening methods. I am more than happy to share everything I know and is learning in my organic garden. If I do, however, unintentionally neglected to share any method and process, I do try to mention it on another video. Thank you. I truly appreciate your question.
