- “Unimaginable”, Korina Sanchez Roxas reacted to guest Lani Misalucha saying she might just stop singing altogether after her bout with meningitis. Meningitis is caused by a bacteria that causes the brain to swell, and which resulted in the loss of hearing in Lani’s one ear.
“Pareho kami ng asawa kong nagkasakit and pareho kaming bingi na ngayon sa isang tenga. Hindi ko naririnig nang maayos ang sarili ko at music. Sintunado na pala ako, di ko pa alam”, confessed the teary eyed singer who is called Asia’s Nitingale.
Lani Misalucha left the Philippines decades ago at the height of her career here and migrated to Las Vegas. Pero hindi parin napigilan ang galing ng singer at hinabol parin si Lani sa Amerika ng tagumpay.

Lani is truly a great singer. I found out from her that she used to live in Dian (Singalong) back in the late 50's while we lived in Vito Cruz, not far from her. After working in NY, I retired in Henderson, LV and in one of my vacations to the Philippines, together with my brother we watched her show in Makati and talked to her after the show. At that time she told us she lived in Summerlin which is next town to Henderson. That show was memorable for me because soon after that my brother passed away from a brain tumor and we both had a photo taken with Lani Misalucha which I now treasure. Lani M is one of the most talented and best Filipino singers ever. I am a bit saddened to hear that she thinks she kinda hasn’t found her identity as a singer since she could sound like Whitney or Celine but when you hear her sing, you already know that it’s Lani M singing.

I watched Rama at Sita, which was an amazing production indeed! That was the first time I heard of the name Lani Misalucha, definitely the best Filipino World class singer of all time. Although I find this interview quite difficult for Korina coz Lani can't seem to give a clear answer and Korina can't seem to follow up, I realized that it must be the effects of the deadly disease Lani caught. I guess what's important and what I can be happy about watching this interview is hearing Lani's lovely singing voice again. I wish her well!
Lani is scheduled to perform at Fantasy Springs Casino with Arnel Pineda this coming September! I first watched her live in Vegas.

I can relate to you ma'am nung nagka head injury ako ganyan din nabingi din at laging hilo ako and couldn't sing for our singing engagement well, fortunately back to normal ako after 6 months of the injury. I had to push myself that time.
