Thanks for watching. Cheers - Hudba
My then 8 year old son now 21 used to ask: "Dad, can we hear 'I do not know how to get all the way back to my house?" It remains a favorite for both of us to this day.
The song has a haunting sound to it . Kinda lonely too. Makes you think about how short life really is. Look at each day as a blessing giving thanks to God for it. Always look on the bright side 😊
In a world of 90% correct tutorials, I really appreciate your 100% accurate ones. Thank you!
Matt Wright you have nailed that statement.... so so true
Lol
This channel is something else. Really.
the best instruction on you tube. His blackened out appearance really is the way to go. And the lighting is perfect. Thank you mystery teacher !
Subbed after 2 Bars. A great lick, I love the tune, but it's either the bridge or verse, when not accompanied by vocals is missing something. The Fireplace version is my favorite as well..
I know how to play this and he got me all screwed up
You deserve all the goodness in this world. I am a bass player and I just cannot believe I am playing that song with a guitar. God bless you.
this is THE best lessons online period half my current repotoire is due to this mans lessons ... pay attention and be grateful i know i am
thanks shut up n play yer guitar man ....peace
Thanks Rick. Maybe you've already done this but if not, check this out sometime: www.shutupandplay.ca/donate.html cheers
I've been playing Guitar on and off for 40 Years, and I've always picked up the fine details from you. It's all in the details, once again thank you for playing and paying attention to details. I've been watching you since day one and my playing has vastly improved. Patience, trusting in what is difficult is the only truth we have left.
Thank you, and for those that don't subscribe or don't send a donation to this artist, kick it into gear. Teaching of this quality is hard to find and it takes a lot of time and effort.
Totally relate! Back in the day I had to write down lyrics, mostly from the radio. I painstakingly listened to songs in order to figure them out. At age 62, I love CZcams which has me now playing much more correctly. Shut Up and Play is my number one go to! Thx
If you watch the fireplace version of this song the wood even snaps at the right time with his playing. My guitar teacher showed me the video when teaching me this song. Great job on this !
John Klein awesome
The fireplace version is simple and that's what makes it so powerful - your lesson does it more than justice. Thank you for another fine one.
Agree 100%. I keep waiting for the pops from the burning wood in the fireplace.
The attention to detail in your lessons is amazing. To put it simply, your lessons are the absolute best. A blessing to every guitar player that watches.
Okay... this is surreal. I watched the Winwood fireplace video last night for the first time ever and was literally blown away, I replayed the video at least 10 times. My initial thoughts were my God... this is what pure talent looks like, it's undeniable. Wake up this morning and here it is!! amazing :)
If you like that, check out Paul McCartney playing Blackbird on acoustic guitar while he sings the words. It is , like, easy for him!
I had the exact same experience! YT must be on the ball these days.
I know what you mean!! I just watched it for the first time like half an hour ago and this pops up! Kinda cool actually...
@@RonRivet Same here!
I just discovered that video too. Beautiful music!
I don't understand the thumbs downers.....this is hands down one of the best tutorials on CZcams. In fact, winwood himself couldn't instruct this clearly. fantastic song, fantastic instructional!
Bret there are people that go through sites like this and just gives it a thumbs down, most of them have the minds set on a different tutorial and don't have any idea what they are doing. Andy is a highly educated man in the music industry, I mean he went a college in California that teaches only guitar. I agree 100% with you brother
This is definitely the best guitar tutorial for Can't Find My Way Home for solo guitar that I have ever seen. Bravo!
In a sea of flawed CZcams guitar tutorials, this stands out as a beacon of light for the perfectionists out there...I thank you heartily for this.
Steve Winwood, though often noted for his work on keyboard, is a remarkable guitar player.
Yes, he's a amazing musician on several instruments.
Not a bad singer either!
CHeck out hi set on AustinCityLimits (same goes for Peter Frampton, John Mayer)
There is a wonderful video with Clapton and Winwood playing this song. Winwood has some chops.
The tone of this guitar is AMAZINGLY beautiful. Wow.
Your format RULES..... I learn more from watching the complete song played. I don't know why more people dont do that. Thanks Amigo
It is rare to find a "tutorial" instructor on youtube who is master of the both the process of TEACHING (in an interesting and extremely effective method) as well as an elite PERFORMER of their craft, which is exactly what ShutUp and Play offers. I have learned some of my all time favorites from these lessons, from Floyd, to Santana to Dire Straights. Keep them coming.
Your lessons are truly magnificent.
You explain everything so well, with such patience.
Also, you never miss anything, and your lessons are the most accurate compared to the original recordings.
.I can't thank you enough. I think everyone should donate you and that's what I'm about to do.]
Also, when I'll have my own credit card and I won't have to relay on my parents, expect monthly support.
Thank you so much.
Aye they're pretty cool mate.
Amit, thanks for the kind words and thank you very much for contributing to my channel..also thanks to your parents! That's awesome bud. cheers
Yes def right first time heard steve playing guitar on own of cant find way home
You are clearly the best teacher of songs on CZcams.
I used to play this and have a show coming up, I'd completely forgotten how to play it 😂thanks for this
If that acoustic sounds that good on CZcams it must be unreal live.
Incredible as always, whenever I want to learn how to REALLY play a song I tune in, and the song choices are always some of the greatest iconic songs ever created
The disembodied hands and the Taylor. BEST on the internet. As usual you nailed it. Thanks !!
A beautiful song! Drugs are responsible for some of the most wonderful songs ever heard. Loved the 70s!!
Part of the reason I listen to your tutorials is just to hear the Taylor guitar. Gorgeous every time.
I am so grateful I came across your channel. What a gift you have to communicate so effectively and with so much passion. I have learned more from you in months than years of lessons. I listen now to hear you play, not only to learn. Amazing brilliant clarity we all strive for.
Andy, your flawless playing is not only inspirational, your lessons are so well-planned that those of us who latched onto guitar just months ago can understand your instruction and learn to play complete songs in surprisingly little time. Thanks!!!
Hey Andy, been following your lesson page for a few months and just got on and made a donation. Your lessons are the best I've found out on the internet and I learn so quickly because of how detailed and precise you are. The lessons are all spot on......thank you, thank you, thank you for helping this old guy continue to improve and learn on the guitar! CHEERS!!!!
You are the Best MY Friend . A True teacher of Songs . Awesome song choice's and a natural at teaching music . Thank You .
Love this version of the song. Winwood's playing and singing are truly great in that video.
Incredible lesson and such a beautiful song. Thank you
Good God man I had no idea how beautiful this song actually was
Can't thank you enough! My favourite song and version. I have been struggling with the sheet music for months. This has made it all crystal clear.
Excellent lesson on this classic Winwood song , this version is awesome, Steve Winwood so talented Many thanks again .
This is really fun song to play, especially with the drop tuning.
That's some ferocious tone you got goin' there, man!
This really makes my 50+ year old Yamaha come alive.
Can't believe I waisted so much time in standard tuning. Learning things like this keeps me playing. Thanks!
Massive thanks from a previously confused , but now enlightened individual.
I have always played this with a drop-D tuning. This is what my heart hears. You have done an excellent video here. Thank you.
One of the many things I love about your lessons: Saying 3rd finger on E5 instead of the whole crap: 3rd finger on the 5th fret of the E string.
I'm an experienced guitar player who was frustrated as heck with this song...thanks for the tuning...you just saved me like 27 years of searching....and then to have the details.....I feel like I'm cheating......RESPECT....
One of the greatest tunes I've ever heard. You teach it well. Thanks
Hopefully paypal didn't screw up. Your lessons are much appreciated by us older farts that simply never had the time, talent or inclination to learn what you teach so well.
Always come back to you for lessons!!!
You are always spot on!!!!❤
This channel is king.
I say that after almost 15 years using youtube and > 5 years abusing it.
Hello Andy, gotta thank you but yet again. You are truly re defining video guitar lessons on CZcams. Your easy laid back approach truly makes it feel like a one on one face to face lesson. This past week you covered an absolute gem.Two versions to this song and this one truly has the honesty you have spoken about another song you covered once before. I love this version .The guitar is so rich and as always you don't leave anything out. I thank you so very much for your efforts.I hope others are donating so that we can expect to keep hearing and seeing from you .Besides it is very cool to be able to sit down and pull a song like this out of ones play list. Thanks again Andy,..Jeff
Bravo! Thinking Lowell George is playing and Bonnie Raitt is getting ready to mesmerize … yes, you are really that talented! Thank you so much.
The best on YT . Thank you

You could do a lesson on recording big, ginormous, lush beautiful rich acoustic guitar tones, not only was the playing awesome, but the tone was outstanding. Nice work!
you give the best lessons by explaining what is going on with tuning and chords...........thanks brother
Great tutorial on the tune! Just love the way Stevie plays it and it’s just stunning!

Bravo as always, another fine tuned lesson
Just saw a video 2 days ago of him playing this outdoors and thinking how fantastic is this. Great job and timing lol. All the best to you friend and thanks.
Not only forward backward picking in the 8 minute part but mixing in up strokes and down strokes at times. Complex but very worth it for the sound and effect that comes out of it.
