      M BAA get the clutch adjusted

    • @theweastells
      @theweastells  Před 4 lety +1

      Changing gears going around corners or uphill is the hardest skill to get. When going around corners changing gears the truck is unbalanced as one drive wheel is going faster than the other which is generally the cause of the rough gear change. Changing gears uphill is a real conundrum. 1. You need more speed to enable the smooth gear change but with more speed you get higher revs. By the time the revs fall enough for the gear to go in the road speed has dropped off. HINT.... try using high revs with the horton fan on as the fan will bring down your revs quickly without losing road speed!

      Allied Cartage well yes thankyou for asking. I booked in for a road ranger but somehow ended up in a automatic. Not happy. I guess that's what you get when you choose the cheapest option. Especially when it's run by a sleazy (racist expletive withheld)! Nonetheless I now have a HC licence. Can always go back and have the B condition removed (synchro/auto only). Ha! Hey Aaron I'm considering getting my HR licence (novice never driven trucks), thanks for this video re double clutching, may I ask please 1) how do you keep track of what gear you are in? 2) why double clutch always- what's wrong with just a clutch change? ...sorry if this is naive question..

    • @theweastells
      @theweastells  Před 5 lety +2

      1) Hard to keep track of the gears unless you have the experience. Keeping track of the gears is a combination of what gear you need at a certain speed by matching your revs with your road speed. 2) Double clutching helps with your timing as the engine revs need to fall to enable a gear change when changing up and need to rise when changing down. Good luck

    I recently got my HR with this box, the instructor I had was bad.
    He would noticeably get irritated and impatient if I buggered up a gear change and before I could even assess the situation so I could correct myself he'd already have his hand on the stick trying to find a gear that I was not even prepared for.
    On every damn corner, he'd say the same shit like a broken record I understand he was trying to get it into my head but hearing it 80 times can get really annoying, especially if you're trying to keep up with him and that's when you bugger up.
    After lunch I pretty much told him to just give directions and not say anything about the actual operation of the truck and like magic, I didn't stuff up anymore lol
