      Absolutely Jean! My watch in the video -although that tank design isn’t for everyone- is the least expensive watch I’ve ever bought. The regular price is $199 and I bought it on sale for $99. Best money I’ve ever spent 😂

    Great list, but I’d make 2 small modifications:
    1. I’d go with a pair of medium brown wingtips as the second shoe choice. Obviously this is personal preference, but I wear my wingtips the most.
    2. I’d go with a navy grenadine over black. I think it’s more versatile and just as elegant and classy as a black one.
    Thanks!

    • @v_r_
      @v_r_  Před rokem +1

      Noted, my man! A lot of viewers said that they would pick navy grenadine over black as well. It’s funny, I have both and wear the hell out of the black although I like them both.
      I find it more versatile since I can wear it with all my suits which are mostly gray and navy. I would never wear a navy tie with a navy suit. But I don’t think there’s a wrong answer.

      @v_r_  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! I’ve definitely heard of it but don’t abide by it at all. I think it’s super old school and played out but it is a thing. What I do strongly believe is that the watch should be plain as in no date window or second hand.

    • @pauldorsi109
      @pauldorsi109 Před rokem

      A watch with a tux is certainly acceptable. But it has to be the right watch. No complications (maybe a second hand but definitely no date window). It must be small. The tank is on point.

      I wear an old (circa 1948) 14K Bulova clean-faced tank watch with my very formal clothes (esp a tux). It was my maternal Grandfather's watch he wore during the Korean War while he served (not on the FLOT). Still runs very well, needs serviced though. Always something to do. Great video.

    Second shoe I'd recommend a dark brown derby or blucher with some broguing. A dressier chelsea or chukka boot could also work, especially in bad weather. I agree on watch sizes for proper dress and would go with something on a bracelet if you live in warmer climates. Leather straps are great in cooler weather and give you an option of swapping colors to match your shoes and belt.

    10 s a nice round number and I wouldn’t remove anything from this list but I would add the following:
    - A pair of brown suede Chukka boots.
    - 2 pocket squares (1 all white linen, 1 multicolored mural in wool or wool/silk).
    - I would say 5 more essential ties but that’s just me splitting hairs and / or being difficult.😅

    Solid list! I'd include black cap toe oxfords as a must for first round job interviews. Since you asked: I'd switch out the tassel loafers for suede penny loafers (I personally find tassels old fashioned). Suede monk straps could be another alternative. Oh and I'd swap the black grenadine tie for a maroon grenadine tie which I think is far more versatile and flattering. Even dark navy will go further within a capsule. How many funerals do people actually go to?!

    • @v_r_
      @v_r_  Před rokem +4

      What’s up, Anthony! I own a few grenadine ties and the black one is by far my favorite. It’s versatile enough to be worn to a funeral or with my navy or charcoal chalkstripe suits. It’s a matter of preference, but I just don’t want it to be mistaken as a funeral tie. It’s so much more than that.
      As far as the loafers, I do have a lot of guys that bring up pennies as their top choice over tassels and I don’t have a problem with it. I prefer tassels for the visual interest that they provide and find them a lot cooler.

    It really depends on the client for my top 10 list... lol
    Charcoal suit, white shirt, light blue shirt, navy and black grenadine ties, 1 cap toe oxfords, 1 dark brown half brogue, 1 top coat in black or navy, white pocket square and a time piece. Replace the pocket square with a navy blazer if client never wears suits lol. But honestly, that's just me trying to cover all the bases for wear I live, most clients I have ignore half of that list haha.

    Glad to see you back on CZcams, Fam. I gotta disagree with the black captoe oxfords. I work in a corporate setting and rarely wear a black suit, which is the only time I'd wear black captoes. Other than a funeral, or Black tie event, I can't think of a time I'd actually wear black captoe oxfords--they're kinda "dated" IMHO. As an alternative, I'd rec. black wholecut oxfords because they are more modern, sleek, and stylish. They can and can be dressed up or down, so you'll get a lot more versitility out of them than the cap toes.

    • @v_r_
      @v_r_  Před rokem +1

      What’s up, fam? I have to wholeheartedly disagree here. I teach Classic Menswear and nothing that I talk about is outdated as this isn’t fashion. A BCTO and a wholecut is just a matter of preference as they play the same role. I would never recommend that someone wear either in a casual setting.

In retrospect a pair of derbies in the same configuration or suede split toes would've suited me better. I will probably go for some dark brown scotch grain leather wingtip or split toe derbies for next pair ... and a pair of Adelaides ... and perhaps my third pair of chukkas. The struggle is real.

    This is a great list! A great help to me too thank you Vladimir. I have a nice pair of Loake full brogue derbys which I wear casually, but from your options I would definitely go for the suede oxfords. I love loafers but I just can’t seem to pull them off.

    • @v_r_
      @v_r_  Před rokem

      Depending on one’s lifestyle, I’d say a tux is essential. But I try to keep it as relatable as possible as I know a bunch of men that haven’t worn a tux in years. With that said, what would you remove to include the tux?

    • @wongaz
      @wongaz Před rokem

      It's like you mentioned with the black captoe oxfords, tux is not versatile and it's formal, but it's very necessary. Nearly every guy would get invited to some black tie events, in which case a proper tux is the only option. Chuck it on with the white shirt and black captoes, perfect.
      I would forgo the watch first, blue shirt second. I'm a big fan of crisp white shirts, they can match everything. Rocking up to a black tie in a charcoal suit blue shirt....nah.
      By the way great vid man, and yeh wouldn't wanna keep it on the low for sure! 😂

Cartier was always the way to go but pricey. The Seiko homage is a great choice and one that I’ve had for quite some time.
