Thats a good comparison test between two Dji's light aircraft. I just bought a Mini but has not tested flying in storng wind yet. After watching this video, you gave me some confident flying my mini at beaches .
i have a mini combo and love it. Changed over from a phantom 3 SE and no matter what this guy says in Europe we do have issues with weight of drones. Under 250g is classed as a toy so not so restricted. My Phantom 3 SE was about 1300g which means registration and a course given by a specialist training center which costs quite a bit.
I think we are going to keep the spark and maybe wait for the air 2 which I think will be out soon since stores are running out of stock of the air and it’s on sale in most places.

Really nice video! One thing though, I think that when the spark returns to home, it flies up to the assigned altitude and does a beeline for the home point. I think if it encounters an obstacle it runs into it. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks again!
I owned the Mavic Air before and now the Mavic Mini. One biggest selling point for me is the Battery. Not having to fear that the battery might Bloat if stored for too long or used too much. Since the Mavic Mini is just 2x 18650 battery, I'm confident that it will last longer. I'm averaging at 27mins of flight per battery and i have 3 packs! I never owned a Spark but my friends do, their average flight time is about 13ish mins. That's like twice the flight time. Lastly, the cost of battery replacement is cheaper.
Family Man You will be losing functionality of the follow me mode or as know as Active Track. This feature makes the drone follow you without having to control it. This feature could come in a future update but let’s hope for now. You will be also losing functionality of obstacle avoidance meaning if you are very close to a wall, you will be shipping it back for replacement which will make you bored and upset. I don’t know why they removed that feature but to make up for it you can order the drone along with the fly more combo which comes with propeller guards preventing damage. I would say the mavic mini is my go to choice because the Active track and obsticale advoidance is mostly forgotten by most drone flyers with drones that have those features. You can buy other drones if you want but if you are not eager in those two missed features I would recommend to buy the mavic mini.
Lok Cheung, you are a very likable guy. Funny and entertaining to watch haha i'm pretty surprised how stable both drones are in strong wind being such a small drone. If i were to choose i would pick the mini over the spark.
I use DJI Spark and I can connect the remote to my phone (Android) using cable. There's one time when DJI release new firmware, it spoils the connection and you can't see the flight information on the app when using cable, but similar issue didn't happen if we connected using wifi. But then, DJI release the latest firmware update and including controller firmware to resolve this issue.
Does it fly further now with the cable? Essentially they are the same radio. Im having trouble deciding on spark and mavic mini because my friend is selling spark hardly used with extra battery for 200. I know the mini has more range and flight time but a spark for 200 though
@@familyman8644 I think the valid reason for why we're using cable is not for extending the range but to have stable connection from controller to your phone. Although it may also impacts the range because now the radio is only use to connect to the drone instead of both to the drone and the controller.
@@familyman8644 Distance mostly depends on the level of wireless congestion and the terrain. I've flown my Spark pretty far in a rural area with the cable connected to my phone. I don't trust the WiFi's reliability.

The battery life is optimized by you, I don't think it's a short time 10 to 13 minutes. In my country there are no limitations, you fly under your responsibility, The mini is excellent for countries where there are many limitations. Excellent video!
7:28 that's a stupid decision not to have the sd card slot under that door. I've accidentally crashed my spark under the water 1.5 meters deep and it was there for about 1 minute. It was absolutely fine after I got it back and drying with a hairdryer... battery was OK, everything... I was shocked. I don't think the mini would survive this with such design.

Mavic mini even being a low cost device its more stable because its latest and updated with most recent firmware compared to earlier Spark. So its a good news indeed. We can expect better products at cheaper price as we move towards future.

Rusni Semma i think it depends on your need if you are fine with that. From my point of view the Mini has the advantage of 3 axis gimbal and a little more portable. But I think If you gonna go from spark to mini it’s not really worth upgrading maybe aim for a higher tier drone like Mavic Air would be more substantial.

Like other DJI drones, it gives you several stages of warning (it would also consider the distance and altitude to decide if it can come back safely). First is just a low battery warning, second warning trigger auto return home (but allow manual cancel), at last he battery in a critical low state when the drone will start descending because the batter is so low it could shut down any second, so it force you to do a control landing rather than drop out from the sky (you can still control it, you can keep it level, but can’t climb anymore) There’s a button you can push on the remote at any time that call it to come back automatically. As mentioned above it will also trigger auto go home at the second batter low warning. So yes it can come back before battery run out, unless you intentionally stretch it, or the battery is so old which te battery level is not correct anymore. But also keep in mind there’s a dangerous when it go home automatically, Mavic Mini fly a straight line to the home point and it won’t avoid obstacles in the way (like a tree). That’s what I’ve mentioned in the video that even the Spark can avoid obstacles.

You actually can connect the phone to the Spark remote controller by microUSB or microUSB-Lightning cable :)

I think it is upgrade worthy. I have the Spark, but 30fps is bad. When you're flying a circle the footage is shaky.

I didn’t test the range, but the furthest I’ve flown in this video was over 600m
Im flying a ce mini in Ireland. As long as i have decent altitude i can get up to 2 km range. Thats all i need
