If Rangers manage to secure Murrayfield for the first 6 'home' games, in all competitions, the capacity is 15,000 more than at Ibrox, which may mean a potential revenue increase of around £2M once you take the stadium hire cost into account, which rather than a loss, may pay for the signing of an additional player or get one of the signings, that are sticking at the moment, over the line.
The next stage of Ibrox development should be to fill in the corners with additional seating, next summer, which should not cause undue delay, as there will be less machinery encroachment on the pitch and they can order the steel-work and have it ready to go immediately after the final game of the season at Ibrox.
Thereafter, the final seating capacity redevelopment piece of the jigsaw would be to lower the pitch to provide additional seating all around the perimeter, bringing the capacity to beyond 60,000 all seater stadium and possibly more if a standing section is allowed behind the goal in the Copeland Road end.
Could also see a substancial drop off in attendances from supporters refusing to be fleeced into an extra 100 mile round trip after investing in a season book for Ibrox.. Also take into account the Edinburgh Fringe Festival taking part throughout August in the capital and you have the potential for a Policing nightmare . Hampden it has to be .
