I can only hope the story aspect can be as good as Three Houses. The battle aspect seems to already be better than Three Houses but one of the reasons I put so many hours into Three Houses is because of the different story routes. That gave it a lot to replay value.
Exactly. The character depth, the wonderful story were the reasons I loved the game. It was very well made. Let's cross our fingers for this, because all characters look very generic till now.
I need to finish Three Houses before Engage, I uninstalled it to play something else can't remember what it was and then just never got around to downloading it again and finishing it even though I was having lots of fun with it, only problem is I just started Paper Mario Origami King so now I need to finish that, I really need to stop starting other games and finish the ones I start, it's just with super long games I usually want to take a break so then I play something else and then forget to go back like I still need to finish Ghost of Tsushima, Far Cry 6, Dying Light 2, Borderlands 3, and God Of War 2018 (I've finished 1-3) on top of Mario and Fire Emblem, it's a real problem I have, plus I just keep playing Minecraft since that's the only time I socialize with my friends I spent over 600 hours just this year on Minecraft Playstation Edition.
Anyway sorry for getting way off topic the TLDR I'm bad at finishing games
There is a rumor that you will have choices that impact the story progression you can be more dark or light and you choices impact that and your characters hair and eyes change color depending on how far to what side you lean and stuff. So there will be multiple paths branching out depending on choices you make if that's true
Hopefully it is cause that's sounds really cool. I affectionately refer it it as the shadow the hedgehog effect though I'm sure other games do similar things. You can either make more evil type choices or more good type. Your hair will get more red and different events will occur if evil choices and opposite for good bluer hair and different events as well

I loved Garreg Mach, but it took forever to get through. I hope this can still feel like a lived in place while being an efficient base.

@@Kaiservondonau I think he means like, even if you're raring to get back into the action, it's like you have a list of chores before you can have fun, if you want to play optimally.
@@Kaiservondonau You can fast travel sure but if you're looking for lost items, a sweep of Garreg Mach is always recommended.
Being able to change they way your characters look more significantly is awesome.

Pretty sure it will return in this game too (even if there's no confirmation atm) so no reason to dislike that

This looks like a combination of Fates’s My Castle and Three Houses Monastery exploration and I’m all for it.
I know a lot of people love to hate on Fates, but I legitimately loved the castle customization in that game!

So far the characters look SUPER generic. Basic waifus and husbandos. All the same face and personality. I hope they don't depart too much from the depth of Three Houses.

This looks like the perfect combination of My Castle from Fates and the Monastery from Three Houses. I was sad there wasn't more to do in Three Houses that seemed more in depth, especially since Fates let us do so much, especially in our rooms. So, I greatly look forward to exploring!
You enjoy everything I hate about FE. I've been playing Fire Emblem since it first released outside of Japan and I loved every single one of them except Fates ans Three Houses.
Children like in Awakening and Geneology of the Holy War is great, but the whole side quest hub takes away from the game.
@@michaelp4122 I somewhat agree. I like the idea of a hub world and like that you can develop skills and conversations in it, instead of forcing units to be with each other in battle. But I ended up hating the monastery in 3H. It quickly gets boring, and doing the activities just gets tedious, and you end up doing them just because you want to see the conversations. Looks like the Somiel is going to be pretty similar, so hopefully it's not as bad.

3:24 Diamant sounds eerily like Ferdinand or, rather, his voice actor, Billy Kametz. Is there any chance Billy could have recorded his lines before his untimely passing (like in FEW: Three Hopes)?? If it's not him, whoever voices Diamant absolutely would make an incredible voice replacement for Ferdinand from here on out in any of his appearances. Either way, RIP Billy. 35 is way too young for such a talented VA.

I remember playing Radiant Dawn, what an amazing game that was. I am not even sure what I am watching here. In almost 7 minutes I think there was a 2 second passing mention of battle but it wasn't important enough to go into.
Apparently FE is a life simulator now. They're going full fanservice to pander to the Fates, 3H and FEH people whilst forgetting their core fans.
The insane number of very positive comments here makes me realize that Fire Emblem must just not be for me anymore.
I'm with ya there man. All this stuff just detracts from what I play Fire Emblem, which is for the combat and some character interactions. For me, PoR and RD were my sweetspot.

And the Final Battle will be in the Floating Castle. It was once your hub and towards the end a destroyed place where the final battle takes place and an epic remix of the Castle will be the song for the final Battle map.

To me, I'm mixed as it seems its more focused on gameplay than characters and story. Plus designs for me are hit or miss
Wish they focused more on story/game mechanics but the map maker is really cool as well

as sigurd is in this game, I expect the ability to infinitely rematch arena opponents at 1HP until the RNG lets me win.
A part of me is glad they're trying new things to add but a part of me is sad cause i can see the clear departure of what Fire Emblem use to be
yeah, actual map design, battles and strategies are not even mentioned anymore. I hope they will be good, but I fear it will just like Persona 5, 80% slice of life/story, 20% core gameplay.
Yeah, It makes me sad as well. I was a big fan of the FE games up to awakening, but these current games can barely hold my attention anymore.

There seem to be a lot of fun things here and I am cautiously excited. I am still iffy on the art direction of the game. In this case I enjoy it as a one of, but I’m not sure that I’d like this becoming the status quo. We’ll see what’s in store for us soon enough

Yeah, I like how even though it’s such an old series each game still tries to improve the base mechanics, beyond just the new quirks that each game has by nature
There's also FE8's Tower of Valni here, sorta. Intriguing is how in Arena, your units can fight each other for xp.
1:00 Blades are finally back! Yay! I think we haven't seen them since the Tellius games! I hope they give a little more weapon experience to the wielder than swords like in the GBA games!
I wonder if they have greater weight than swords since we know build as a stat is back but we don’t see weight listed in the shop in this trailer
@@Logans_Login It looks like weapons don’t show their own stats, but rather what stats the unit will have with them equipped. Spd and Avoid are there so they should have weight values. I just hope there’s a way to toggle showing the actual weapon stats as well
In some japanese footage we also see that Poleaxes and Greatlances are back, and that the effects of these “heavy” variants are that the wielder always goes 2nd (even when initiating) but they inflict Smash when hit (a 1-space knock back effect)
I though blades only existed in xenoblade chronicles 2
Also, instead of having bronze swords, slim swords are coming back for the first time since Tellius as well, that's cool.

i humbely disaggree. the "choose your heroes Gender"-stuff isnt my style at all. remember the time you had a game with two seperated storylines? the second Telliusgame just like echos? that was the cake: both routes had there own story, there own worth and there own personalitys. With this 'desicion'style without canon, you just loose something that makes a character a character. the self-insert-feeling you shpuld have with those decisions is kinda weak, you have no main character you could love or hate, who makes mistakes or something, bcs everything that one male character does, is the very same thing for the female one. and that is dissapointing.
Three houses did a good job by having 3 main characters and your character als there most important right hand. Byleth's job was never to be the hero of the story, but helping one of the three lords to be exactly that hero. but in this game, we are the hero by definition.

One of my favorite things about Fire Emblem compared to other RPGs was always not having to or feeling like I should do all of the random RPG-type tasks like a lot of the things shown in this video. I was fine with the point and click in Echoes, then stomached the monastery in Three Houses, but it seems like it's getting worse. I'll still get the game tho
I'm fine with Three Houses cause the Academy is essential to it's world and plot but I don't want every game after to have a monastery like feature just cause.
Three Houses is my favourite FE but of course a series ought to try different things. They might not end up all being winners and you can never please everyone but that's the chance you take.
I think I will get this but I still have too many games to get through yet. 😅
Love that players can now make their own battle maps. Awesome new feature! I just really hope that the in-battle gameplay, maps and story, the core of a Fire Emblem experience, hold up to predecessors like PoR, Radiant Dawn and Awakening. It's clear that a lot of time was placed on Somniel, and it looks beautiful, but I hope that all of the effort on features like a farmyard, training yard and ring polishing mechanic weren't resources taken away from the core experience.
If Engage turns into a hangout sim first and a strategy game with a strong story second, then I may have to skip this entry. This is the 30th anniversary game and more features are better than less, so I am gonna stay optimistic until reviews are released.
Or buy the game and experience it yourself instead of relying on reviews

Of course you're right and no one knows for sure until you actually play the game or even a demo. Nor are reviews gospel by any means. But they can give a rough sense of what to expect. If the consensus is that the social components outweigh the core gameplay, then I may have to skip this one. That's all I'm saying.
Yeah, I feel the same way about social elements. Part of the reason why I couldn't get into FE3H was the monastery sections felt bloated and unnecessary

I agree the visuals are cool but I also do not care for the "Home Sys" crap like how it was forced in Three Houses. I miss the old FEs like Ike's game which crafted an amazing story with chars through their cool cinematics and battle sys if this one turns into a 3 houses rather than a awakening or previous games I aint buying FEs anymore cause it seems like they gonna be stuck on the new Hub bs

So, this is basically Fates' My Castle and Three Houses monastery exploration, like someone has said, combined with Splatoon 3's sharing aspects, Tomodachi Life, Miitomo, and Animal Crossing's bond building, Breath of the Wild's activities, and Ring Fit Adventure without all the exercise. They've taken aspects of almost every Nintendo property except for Mario. Amazing.

I'm so looking forward to this game, I'm really excited to see all the new mechanics and how you can build your stats to fit your playstyle, I see that they actually took a lot of inspiration on Fire Emblem Heroes for the new features, tho it will be fun to have it as some kind of multiplayer experience that still hadn't managed to add the feature just yet

Engage definitely seems to be bringing in similar ideas with the rings though, so hopefully people who didn't get into tms can still enjoy some of the concepts!
@@jakebaney46 I don't think it's meant to be that deep, just an excuse to set the game in motion, and hey, it gave a pretty fun game and is (weirdly enough) one of the few times Marth has been put as a figure of respect in the saga instead of the more popular lords, so I really like it

looks like a mobile gacha compilation game without the gacha mechanics tbh. I like it better when FE is a more condensed story with just the main cast of their own respected game the whole relying on summoning past cast members makes this game feel like FE heroes

A little taste of Somniel - How to Make Salmon Potato Gratin at 3:18 IRL
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Rinse the salmon and pat it dry with a paper towel. Cut the salmon into small pieces or thin slices.
Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and milk together. Add the salmon and potato slices to the egg mixture and stir to coat the ingredients evenly.
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
Thinly slice or chop the vegetables of your choice, such as bell peppers, onions, zucchini, or tomatoes.
Sauté the vegetables in a pan over medium heat with a bit of olive oil until they are tender. You can also add a pinch of salt and any desired seasonings.
Add the sautéed vegetables to the gratin mixture before transferring it to the baking dish
Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
Serve the gratin hot, garnished with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of cheese if desired.

I have come to accept that Engage is the silly anniversary Fire Emblem game. All my usual expectations for the series are not going to be fulfilled with this title, all I ask though is that the gameplay is insanely fun. A Genealogy remake will heal my soul someday soon.

After hearing about the rings bringing back Lyn and Eirika, I decided to look up a trailer. I've reached the stage of grief where I can just wait 5-7 years for the next FE

The hype is mostly from modern FE fans who were probably introduced to the franchise with 3H. Personally I'm not going to take Engage seriously in an attempt to TRY and enjoy it, like I said if the gameplay is phenomenal then I can have a great time.
Thankfully tho, we seemingly don't need to wait 5-7 years for the next FE title. Before Engage was revealed, several aspects of the game were correctly leaked, including screenshots, saying the game has been ready for a LONG time and that IntSys are ALSO working on a FE4 Remake, and have been for the last 4 years, meaning a holiday 2023 or early 2024 release is within the cards.
There's hope yet brother, there's hope yet.

Seems like the perfect Fire Emblem game to bring back Amiibo usage. I've had a bunch of Fire Emblem Amiibos for years now. They gave you almost full extra characters along with their outfits weapons and even some skills in FE Fates, ghosts of the characters in Echoes, then nothing but random items or small pocket change in the Warriors games and Three Houses. I feel like they could have the amiibos give you early access to character outfits or the Emblems or even just weaker copies of their weapons or something in this game. Really hope so.
I really hope the my base feature is more fates than three houses I don’t want to spend hours before a chapter doing the same stuff just so I don’t get stomped.

WOW! There is a lot of features packed into this game. Cannot wait to play.
As long as they don't have a 'lost items' gimmick again, everything here looks pretty chill. I am also highly curious how one gets SP and more stuff on the rings. Like if I can buy Avoid + 20, + 15, and +10 then have a +45 Evasion buff.
If this is even close to as good as three houses, one of my favorite games of all time, then I will be satisfied! I would even be fine with the gameplay being better but the story a step down since 3 Houses story is so good that I am amazed they made it work given how much content they had to work on for that game!

While not my type of game I can still appreciate the time and effort the developers put into this game; there's so much content.
How did they go from Three Houses to this? The art is like N64 super mario and this looks like Peach's Castle. I hope it has a great story line and gameplay because based on this trailer it doesn't look good.
Now if only the story and tone didn't make this seem like some weird animu Fire Emblem Warriors spin-off that got turned into a mainline SRPG entry on a whim halfway through development.
I seriously hope tonal and narrative aspects of this game are better than they look, because as it stands, hoo-boy: I just cannot muster much enthusiasm for this one.
There’s so many things to do that it might feel a little overwhelming, nevertheless Im really excited for Engage🔥💯 Now if only I could get a preorder of Divine Edition 💀
You don't have to bother with literally any of it unless you're playing hard mode. Then you need every little advantage you can get.

This is so cool it even has a swimming pool a gym where you can workout and a ranch where you care for the animals. I love it I can’t wait I already preordered mine back in October all I can do is wait plus the dragon flying mini game reminded me of The legend of Zelda Skyward Sword where Link flies on his loftwing.
This base is easily the most comfortable looking one we got so far. It feels like a medival resort. I can see myself just staying in the pool area doing nothing for hours.

I mean it could be possible cause awakening and fates had demos but 3h didn't. Maybe that's just cause how much work they were doing up until release though since this game has supposedly be done for a while it's a possibility but I doubt we will get one
Those weapons in the shop are good I always love forging them especially in echoes SOV I absolutely love that feature

I really really don't care for this hubworld stuff, i don't care for a protagonist that doesn't talk, I don't care for the the detatched sauna paradise when I'd assume the world is in chaos. Fire emblems used to be character driven plot heavy stories with tension and some lightheartedness sprinkled in. If I wanted to play harvest moon I'd play harvest moon. Fire emblem dialogue has a history of being very enjoyable, walking around and having units give me 2 bits of their one sided statements isn't dialogue... I like that the tactics game play is advancing I won't lie but this isn't the game I fell in love with as a kid. Frankly I'm just sad that I no longer feel excitement when I'm told "hey a new fire emblem is coming out." All I want at this point are the old fire emblem games ported to the switch, especially path of radiance and radiant dawn. Sorry for ranting but I feel I needed to say *something* about my thoughts on this franchise I used to love so much.

I've always liked Robin's robe. Looks like I can outfit everyone with it.
The bright solid colors of the base are so refreshing after spending so much time in Garreg Mach and it's muted brown tones.
I know people like to meme this stuff but I think it looks awesome. So damn excited for this game!
