    My sister well done,welcome to Nigeria.i want to comment on the giant thing.Nigeria was named the giant of Africa when there is nothing like like Nigeria.There is this clergy man that was sailing around Africa in the 15th centuries when he got at the location of present Nigeria, he said this is where the the giant will emerge,when he got to the southern part of Africa he said this is where the elephant will emerge werr we have present south Africa. So in general been giant will not be the most drveloped,richrst,beautiful and so on.butvthe influence you have on the continent.for instance in 2019 when Nigeria closes it borders many African countries were complaining,even recently when Nigeria removed oil subsidy many African countries were complaining even almighty USA. Also a rome does not built in a day.everything in life is one step at a time,very soon we will get there.check out when we started nollyhood, is now the second income generator in the world after holyhood in America,talk of Afrobeat and many more. To conclude check ambasador uebert angel prophecy about Nigeria,he said Nigeria is not even only the giant of Africa only but in the world.is just a matter of time

    Nigeria is the giant of Africa in terms of economy and also the small scale industries. We have many small scale Nano businesses and many more. We also have the highest populations and human manpower in Africa. The only problem is just corruption. Nigerians are the most creative and industrious people in the world. But the bad governance and corrupt politicians are the only problems we have.

    • @the_traveling_miss

      That's true. If only corruption would be eliminated or even reduced, Nigeria would flourish. Look at what the Nigerians in the US are doing. The are the most successful immigrants group which means that in a functioning society, Nigerians can achieve a lot.

      @@the_traveling_miss you have no right to talk about Nigeria after spending just a week with your pre-conceived notions and entrenched biases.

      True Nigeria corruption dates during Slave trade and before slave trade and after slave trade. This country stays corrupt for reasons unknown. But they were responsible for capturing and enslaving people in Africa an captured millions of people that identified as Hebrew Israelites. They helped the occupiers and then was eventually occupied because they were so easily convinced to allow the occupiers to get there resources.

    Well, it depends on how some people interpret or understand as the giant of Africa. Giant does not necessarily mean per capita.
    If so, then Luxembourg will be the richest country in the world, with a per capita GDP of $133,590. But you and I know that Luxembourg is not richer than the USA because the USA has a GDP per capita of $70,248.
    In Africa, the Seychelles have the highest GDP per capita at $29,837, and does that mean the Seychelles is the richest or the giant of Africa? Or is Botswana, with a GDP per capita of $19,287, richer than South Africa?
    A country's wealth is determined by its purchasing power. And also debt per capita, and also what they have achieved in all areas of human endeavor. Individually, I doubt if any citizen of any African country has surpassed Nigerians.
    Nigeria is a giant of Africa because Nigeria is the face of Africa; some may argue that, but the evidence is indisputable, and Nigeria has also contributed a lot to Africa.
    Among them is the Africa Development Bank, of which Nigeria is the highest depositor, followed by the USA. And this money is being loaned to other African countries.
    Nigeria is the only big country in the world that has never gone to war with its small and poor neighbors, even when those micro-countries are looking for Nigeria's trouble. What other sacrifice could a giant, and a big brother like Nigeria, offer that could be appreciated?
    Even as sick-abed as Nigeria's economy is right now and still has the highest GDP, it shows that Nigeria is truly a giant of Africa.
    In South America, Brazil has the highest population but not the highest GDP per capita; they are still called the giant of South America.
    The same thing goes for the USA, China, etc., but in Africa. Countries that barely eat and are surviving through international aid are contesting it.
    Please, anyone who needs that title or slogan of ''giant of Africa'' can take it, so Nigeria can have some peace.
    Finally, as I have said, you can't see Nigeria just by walking alone on the road. And you have only visited three states among the 37 states.

    • @jyde50
      @jyde50 Před 9 měsíci +4

      Also i think Nigeria's GDP is bigger than the figures out there. Nigeria needs a rebased, it's been 10 years since the last rebase. in 2013/2014 after the rebase GDP was 90% bigger than thought.

    • @interestingthingstoknow8975
      @interestingthingstoknow8975 Před 9 měsíci +8

      Well explained points... hope she reads this and understands why Nigeria is the Giant of Africa... Nigeria dominates African tech, music, movies, new innovation, and investments despite bad leadership.... the world needs to watch out for how powerful and successful Nigeria will be in a few years' time... Nigerians are not waiting for the government, they are doing things themselves...very resilient people...most hardworking...

    • @the_traveling_miss
      @the_traveling_miss  Před 9 měsíci +2

      It's true that I have visited only 3 states. But in those states, I have come across some things that have made me draw the conclusions that I've drawn.
      Nigeria has the potential to be the giant of Africa but its not yet there maybe in terms of population only. Yes, it's the biggest contributor in the ADB but 40% of it's population is living below the poverty line.
      Yes, I did crisscross the country by bus and also the state of the roads was so bad everyone (Nigerians) in the bus were complaining about how bad they are and that's why I never vlogged about them because people would have accused me of showing the negatives although it was the actual state of things.
      We can argue until kingdom come about GDP and GDP per capita but at the end of the day we both know that the country with the highest gdp per capita has more equitable wealth and therefore the purchasing power of an average Seychellian is greater than that of an average Nigerian. But of course the wealth of the big wigs in Nigeria far supercedes that of the Seychellians.
      My whole point is,although Nigeria has the biggest GDP in Africa, it still had the potential to be so much more. Nigeria and DRC Congo if well managed aren't supposed to be competing with other African countries. They are supposed to be at par with Gulf countries. Hopefully one day,we'll see them get there.

    There you go again, GDP per capita does not always determine wealth. Seychelles 🇸🇨, Mauritius 🇲🇺, Equatorial Guinea 🇬🇶, Gabon 🇬🇦, etc have the highest per capita income in Africa but their economies are small and therefore, cannot be described as giants in Africa.
    Globally, the USA is the economic giant of the world because her economy is the largest in the world. However, the US does not have the highest per capita income in the world. In fact, the US per capita income is far below any of the Nordic States or the Gulf countries.
    Contrary to your claim, Nigeria 🇳🇬 is not an oil economy. Oil and gas contribute about 18% to the GDP.

    Also both Kenya and South Africa have never had military regimes at the helm like Nigeria had!
    Not to make excuses though, I agree that Nigeria does have mad potential, but I am a bit confused as to what would make it a successful country!

    Hi, you said Nigeria has highest GDP, but you don’t see Nigeria as a giant of Africa, so which country to you is the giant of Africa, because you are contradicting yourself, China is more developed and has a high GDP than America , why then do they regard America has world power, There are certain criteria you meet before declaring you above other countries in Africa, Nigeria presently are doing great things for Africa and the neighboring countries around them, Nigeria gives light to Niger, Benin republic, Togo. Nigeria has sent troops to several war countries around Africa, in African union Nigeria makes highest contribution, even in economic community of west African states Nigeria makes highest contribution, Nigeria single handed fought for South Africa during Apartheid, presently Nigeria is making the west to have respect for Africa through their, music, film industry, sports ( entertainment). Africans stop using style and come to Nigeria and insult Nigeria, you came to Nigeria know that Nigeria has very high population, so you want views, so that’s the power of Nigeria, yet you don’t think the population you are looking for, makes Nigeria giant you said you defer, you said Nigerians should not come for you, but you come for Nigeria, shut up and look for your views and go. Everyone of you come here and think that your country is better than Nigeria but you can’t do what Nigeria is doing, you think it’sGDP per capital only, if you don’t help other African countries why should we take you as giant, America helps so many countries around the world You are trying to compare small villages country of yours with Nigeria, your country is small. Nigeria is very large and difficult to manage, but we have not lost hope, because one great president will change Nigeria, everything you see in Nigeria is own by Nigerias, but you don’t even own those businesses in your country and you want to compare Nigeria to Kenya , see this girl ooo Abeg shift.

      Emotions aside, Seychelles is the giant of Africa based on the GDP per capita. It means that the average Seychellian can afford a lot more than the average Nigerian and that's how ideally a strong economy should work. Note;ideally.
      I came to Nigeria because I wanted to explore same as Ghana,Rwanda and the other countries I've been in. Views are just part of the journey.
      Nigeria did not single handedly support South Africa during apartheid. So many African countries did. Just read more on the topic.
      All of those countries you mentioned Nigeria is helping are in West Africa. We(Kenya) are also a very important economy is East Africa doing most of those things that you mention in East Africa.
      It's ok if our opinions differ. Nigeria could do so much better than it's doing is all I was saying. I still stand by that and I hope that the current government will do better and take the country to where it should be.🤗

    Hello madam Susan, please help us,if Nigeria is not the giant of Africa,who then is? You know it is easy to do a 30 minutes research on the internet about a country and feel that you have become some sort of expert to speak about that country. Nigerians dont mind criticism, infact we are our own best critics. How ever, when criticism is made from a stand point of prejudice, and malice like in your case,then such criticism is unwanted. I didn't arrive at this conclusion hurriedly, but having watched almost all your videos on Nigeria, right from the first one with Miss Caldwell, it's safe to say that your criticism is not only biased, but it is malicious and unwelcomed. Nigeria in all it's disfunctionality is far ahead of many countries on this continent including Kenya. Most Kenyans I know are warm and welcoming people, but you are clearly a different breed of Kenyan, and your negativity reflects on the growth of your channel, which is really poor. I wish you well,I honestly do, but it appears to me that you are in a wrong kind of job. I have searched for videos where you were criticizing your country but I can't find any. Does it mean that all is well back home in Kenya. Please do well to remove the log of wood in your eyes first, before attempting to remove the speck in your neighbor's eye.

    • @the_traveling_miss

      Hi. Thank you for watching.
      Let me point you to some videos where I criticized Kenya and a lot of Kenyans didn't like it but I still gave my honest opinion. Check out my video about my culture shocks in Rwanda, the car free kigali video and in fact most of my videos in Rwanda. I felt that we could learn a lot from Rwanda because they are doing so much better than us in some aspects and I spoke about it.
      Then, I made a lot of positive videos about Nigeria, but I didn't see you there acknowledging that. It seems that you would prefer that I only share the positives and forget about the negatives, even when they are my own personal experiences but that wouldn't be authentic.
      I still stand by what I said that Nigeria has the potential to do better and be at par with the gulf countries because it does given the amount of oil that the country produces and also the amount of other natural resources that it has. In my heart, I would like to see Nigeria do better alongside DRC Congo and other countries that are in the same level resources wise.
      That said, Kenyans are generally hospitable and friendly but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't share our honest opinions and / or experiences. Also, for a 4 month old channel, my channel is growing very well which means that I'm certainly doing something right and that I'm the right career.

    A plot of land in Ikoyi is about $1,500,000/1000sqm plot not $18million. A detached mansion costs about $3m

      I was gonna say that 18 million dollars for land is crazy, its not Miami, LA, Beverly Hills, San Francisco etc and also I gotta say, I have never seen this part of lagos this calm and barely any cars, thanks to Traveling miss.

      I forgot to explain that it is an apartment block not just a bare piece of land. In Kenya we use the word plot to refer to both a piece of land and an apartment building.😅

    I would prefer Port Harcourt to rich Lagos because life must be much less stressful there. 🙂

      Rich Lagos is rich,rich. Especially that estate called Banana island. Next time I'm in Nigeria, I'll try to see if I can get an invitation to the island.

      Port Harcourt is great, no stress, very calm and peaceful. But if you don't like rain, don't come here cos it rains nearly every day....that's why its very green
