- The Koshi Rikdo Assassination Plot - Ilpalazzo desires to exterminate the world's manga artists, ordering Excel to start with Rikdo Koshi, but she is thwarted by the intervention of the Great Will of the Macrocosm and her own conscience. After chatting with Pedro the immigrant worker and chasing down dinner, Excel makes a second attempt on Rikdo's life.
Keep in mind. The entire show starts with the studio basically telling the audience "The auther literally said we can do whatever we want with this shit."
The voice actress is so good and obnoxious

Fangs of Yima she actually damaged her vocal cords doing the voicework for this show after the studio broke it's contract and made her record too much. she was replaced halfway through the show

Years ago I recorded tons of episodes of this off dvd from the library. I would love to own every episode, I lost all those vhs tapes awhile ago. This is my favorite anime. The comments from people that don't like it crack me up. But I'm bi polar I relate to excel.
One of the few shows were the English voice acting rivals the Japanese. This show was ahead of it's time.

WTF is this?
So let me get this straight, The anime starts out with the creator of this anime "Excel Saga" giving full creative permissions to the animators, and the first episode's plot is to kill the creator of anime that were watching (only to have him revived)...... and then she's a traffic control personnel for a construction sight cause.... reasons ..... then excel talks to a construction worker named padro (really....) about his back story which lead to nothing... then she causes an explosion that causes the construction side (thats made of steel and concrete) to go up in flames which leads to pedro's inevitable death.... Excel then goes back to her apartment where she presumably eats a dog for dinner... where she killed the creator of Excel Saga again....
What's the fucking plot ark here?

STUV101 You'd be surprised -- it actually manages to have quite a cohesive plot (by anime standards) by the last four episodes. I remember being impressed Nabeshin was able to pull it all together by the end.

Jessica Calvello, who voiced Excel, is Saori in the upcoming English dub of Girls Und Panzer! She recently moved back to Texas from New York (where she spent the next 11 years after recording the first 13 episodes of Excel Saga).
I watched this growing up and the theme hit me out of nowhere tonight so I’ve come back for this classic 😂

Actually, Jessica Calvello was replaced after the 13th episode do to damaging her voice from recording Excel's voice, which required talking very fast as well as being very loud, and high pitched.

When I look at this anime I can't help but think what the creators where thinking when they made it probably something along the lines of " you know what fuck it let's leave the thought provoking stuff to ghost in the shell and instead just make a fun and entertaining anime but first (snorts a bag of cocain) ohh yeah that hit the spot

I actually really love the dub for this show. ADV did an excellent job with it overall and really captured its zaniness. The voice actress for Excel is perfect (a shame it changes in the second half, but the replacement is still good).
Jessica Calvello was an EXCELlent choice to voice Excel, despite needing throat lozenges for practically every episode.
That might be the best opening ever.

I believe Excel succeeded in her quest. There are no more true Mangakas left, except perhaps Yoshihiro Togashi (who keeps going on hiatus to go into hide from Excel and resurface to quickly release the next Hunter X Hunter chapters only to crawl back into his hole before Excel finds out that he's still active.)

Hi I know it's a year late but Hyatt was coughing blood. I think she can't cope with earth's atmosphere. But if you watch she is in statis which probably means she's very ill. Either way she's basically on the brink of death. This was my first anime back in 2003 and I only watched two others gto and elfin lied. This show sure brings back memories, honestly I'd go back just for all night pso and streaming new cartoons

I see alot of recent comments about "wtf did i watch" but you guys gotta understand when this first came out as an anime years back these were our same thoughts too except we actually loved it, the point of not following an actual plot, just randomness made it stand out , out of all the anime in its time. As for its english dub its kinda rare to find so treasure it.
