Hi I would recomend before you remove the sash LIGHTLY mark with a pencil arouned the inside of the top of the frame where it meets the sash, fit the TOP of your vent BELOW this line OR THE SASH WILL NOT SHUT!! idealy at least 1/8 or 3mm plus down from this line to the TOP of the vent, providing once you have removed the sash you have checked the the position of the glazing bead (the angled bit all arouned the window these can be internal or external) where the 'angled bit' stops against the 'flat' of the sash this will tell you where the TOP of the glazed unit is try to allow 1/8 or 3mm plus above the glazing bead to the BOTTOM of the vent to allow removal of the bead, try to get a center line between these two points to drill your holes & Hopefully the vent will fit between these two points it should on most UPVC.
Do you not do them in white......I find it strange to have a white upvc unit and then put a cream coloured addition on it..!!
Thanks - informative.
I recall a time that people put d/g windows in to keep out draughts, now we got people drilling holes in windows to make draughts funny old world isnt it!.
I think that is UK. In the UK there is tons of humidity in the air and condensation is massive issue.
Can this be done on all windows some are reinforced
"the 'oles" ........ love it😘
Is it correct to install 2 "outsude parts" of the vent and have no regulating part at all?
How would you clean them ? As with the time they accumulate dust inside
Hi where can I buy one of those rulers?
regulation air volume parts must install to inside windows! not outside :))
Hi Bill
These vents can be fitted to open upwards or downwards
sorry, this may sound stupid but if the windows frame are fitted on the wall. Have you got enough space to operate the drill in order to make the holes and fit the trickle vent? Especially form outside, I can see some problem there. Thanks
which is the correct position for vent opening internally, towards ceiling or downwards to window ledge
Downwards
Is that Tyson Fury commentating?!
,,,,,,
It is lol
Riveting video guys 10/10 😀
you do realise thats the bottom of the window as ae can see the drain holes
This video is for demonstration purpose only
LOL
Hi, is trickel vent possible to install in single glazed Victorian windows? Thank you
These vents can be fitted into plastic , wood and Aluminum windows
More HOW TO to Follow
8mm drill bit? 14mm drill bit? I think your sizes are way off the drill bits you are actually using, look more like 4mm and 8mm, please clarify. Many thanks
Colour didnt match and no sealing of the top of the external vent case????
Are you certain you used a 14mm drill bit? - most hand-held drills will only take a 13mm bit max, and even that seems like overkill for this particular job. I used a 10mm bit after first drilling pilot holes - a much safer bet, especially since this was my first attempt! What the video doesn't show is the mountain of swarf generated in the process - it took me ages to clean up afterwards, considerably longer than the suggested 10 mins and probably closer to 90!!
Should be white spoils the frame
Hi. Thank you. Why drill from both sides? Why not drill through from one side?
More precision
There's a metal structure between the two sides with gaps for air flow
good idea but you are only going through 1 skin on both sides ? most upvc have at least another 2 skins inside and unless you also drill these out you will not have free movement of air-also some sashes have metal reinforcing in and this will turn the job into much more than a ten minute one :-)
the video is only demonstrating the sash installation. in the case of steal you would go through the steal also but the sash we used was a standard side opener with only steel on hinge side.
Or so if
How to knacker a perfectly good sealed unit.
Great but you've put it in the bottom of the vent where the drain holes are?
