- Ever heard of that groove that makes your booty move? I get hired by companies like ESPN and DISNEY to create bass lines that are danceable. In this video, I'll be showing you how to create a danceable bass line that will guarantee to get EVERYONE movin. Follow these simple tips because they say that if your bass line can't make the booty move, you're not quite groovin'.

Hey Nikki Bad bAss! Can I/we get a copy of that funky backing track?
PLEASE?!!!
😬😬😬
It's the old adage, it's not what you play, it's the way you play it. Groove is not so much about technical ability, but feel, timing and space. This great lesson teaches all of that.
YES!!!! You get it! Thanks for watching
This is exactly what I needed to get me outta learners block, stuck on scales and over thinking. Groove that's so cool, Niki West cheers.
Thank you for the love! Sometimes it's good to take a break from learning everyone else's songs and just get creative 🎉
Just do this. Play some drum backing tracks on yt...funky. Keep up with the bas with simple lines.

Thank you! Thanks for the love!
I learned something here for sure. All I know is other people's basslines but this helped me with theory. Also I appreciate the fact this lady has the Bootsy Collins tread of thought down.
AWESOME! Covering other people's bass lines is a great way to learn all of the fundamentals so then you have all the tools to make your own from scratch!
That bass fretboard strap is awesome! Also, great lesson. This was exactly what I needed.
Great lesson. Thanks.

Greetings from Costa Rica, Very useful those tips....really appreciate them.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so very much for this very well taught easy to understand music lesson which is the meat on the bone on how to groove
Thank you!! and thanks for watching!
Thanks for this!!! Long time guitarist turned bassist just recently. Love the information you taught me.
NICE! Yep I started on guitar (and still play) but the groove is really what makes the most difference between the two instruments.
@@NikWestBass I grew up playing rock and metal shred type music and am just becoming bored with it. I recently explored new music (to me) and really love Jamiroquai and fell in love with the Bass and the groove. Bass forever!!!! 😊
Wonderful teacher!
Thank you!!
Great video...thanks
Glad you liked it!
Excellent
She's amazing, the source of the groove , thank you .
Thank you for the love!
I’ve never seen your channel before and it’s very informative and you make it look easy. New subscriber here
Welcome aboard! And thank you for the love!
This was an excellent demonstration and explanation. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Now this was a great tutorial video. I currently learning the chords, scales etc. You really made it so easy to understand how to create a groove that simple and enjoyable to play. Thanks 😊
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for watching!
Groovy AF! Love the slide off the A to the run. That's a tasty trick I use a lot too. Simple is where it's at. Average audience folk can't wrap their head around complex lines. They have to think about it which causes groovus interuptus. Simple wins all day.
Love this comment! You get it! Simple is the key to the masses... You want the average person to be able to sing that bass line!
how beautiful !!! 😻❤️
cheers from Italy
💜💜💜
Thank you for keeping the funk!
ALWAYS! Thank you for watching!
Truth is that the deepest lesson I take from this is how much the drum feel is inside of you, I mean in the beginning of it you just play the ONE but there is so much groove happening inside of you that I must remind myself to always be funkin' even if all I have is one note. Thanks
You see things I don't even recognize in myself. LOL! Yep I just keep grooving the drums in my head ... it's easier to NOT PLAY so much that way.
Wawwwww!! Thank you so much!!! 💓
You are so welcome
Nice lesson... Thanks Nik!
Thank you!
Great playing and just what I'm trying to do at the moment. Admittedly I couldn't get everything from this video, but certainly inspired me to do some nice grooves.
😉💕
you have the most awesomest look goin' on! love the matching fretwrap. oh yeah, great lesson too!
Thank you! 💜🎉💕
Thank you soooooo much!!!!!
You're welcome!
Played thrash metal show like couple hours ago and really appreciate your groove video. You do explain things pretty universally, much bass love
Rock on! That's actually pretty cool for you to say that! Metal definitely has groove in it bc it's all about locking in with the drummer!
This band has some really underrated groove in their catalog !

Oh my god - first video of yours I watched and I fell so badly in love with you.
Your way of playing makes my booty move and your way of shining, makes my heart move. Thank you!
LOL!!! Booty Moving??? YES! Mission accomplished! Thanks for watching!
Groovy and colorful... I like it!
Thank you! Glad you like it!
This is gold, Nik!!!… 🔥…
Thank you Pier!!
She is a living embodiment of music, it just comes naturally to her.
Thank you for the love!!! I had to work hard on this.
Most catchy bass lines are so basic and simple. Simplicity is key. Many times we get influence by players that do all this stuff up and down the neck of the bass. Simplicity and pocket are best friends just as drums and bass!
Best bass lesson, you make me understand it, thanks
I'm so Glad to hear that! I'll keep them coming then!
good content- thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
That was so Awww-Some Nik👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️😄🥰🙌🏼🎉🎶💃🏻💕 Absolutely fab! I wanna start learning to play bass TODAY! I’m a classical pianist 😃🎹🎶
You should! I'd love to have you in my latest bass course! Classical Pianist whew! I wish!
Sooper Nice💯
💜
I dont know anything about bass but you are a beauty. 😍
Wow…. Thank you for sharing your work. I’m a beginner base player. I had know idea how to create a groove ❤
Happy to help!
This is a learning Experience-And this lesson was quite interesting, Nik West
Thanks for watching!!
THE awesome Groove Goddess with massive musical talent,a fabulous bass lesson, stripping down to basics the reason why we pick up the bass in the first place……
Well put together and brilliantly presented…..thank you….
Thank you for the love!
The pattern at 2:51, the last 3 notes before the 1 took me a minute, so staccato, even and smooth, while moving the hand down two frets. My hand just wanted to slur the second and third note and it took a number of times to get even close to the stripped down rhythmic pulse you create. That one thing was worth the price of admission, never mind the rest of this great advice. Thank you.
Nice! Yep just think short and to the point with the notes. If the strings are ringing, try a fret wrap by gruvgear.com... that also helps keep the notes short and tight
Great advice, especially "space is a note"
Thank you for the love!
I love to see a Nik West bass lesson =)
More coming!!!
you are amazing!
Thank you for the love!
😂😂🤣 Your look at 5.00 speaks volumes! Perfect and most valuable advice...that's how it's done! Bravissima! E bellissima! I've been playing bass for about forty years now (and i began playing pretty late), so i don't look GREAT like you do but somehow i can fetch some gig all the same! These are the golden rules of groove! 👍🏿👍🏻👍!
💜
You are terrific!
Great lesson I like mouth beats I notice most groove masters click their tongue but your beat boxing makes more sense to me
I don't even know why I do that LOL! It's just the way I feel and understand music
That G and A are so perfectly behind the beat, honestly, I don't know if you can teach that.
That's where my natural pocket tends to sit. Slightly behind the beat. Some people groove right on top of the beat but both sound awesome!
That bass is goooooorgeous!
😆
