- DIY Dry Dog Food
6 to 7 cups of flour
1 cup powdered milk
3 large or 4 medium eggs
1/3 cup oil
2-1/2 cups broth or water
1-1/2 cups extra food item (e.g. peanut butter, veggies, etc)
Wisk together all the wet ingredients in one bowl.
Stir together dry ingredients in a separate bowl, start with 6 cups of flour and add more if needed.
Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until stiff dough forms, adding in additional cup of flour if needed.
Turn dough out onto well floured counter, kneed for 1 minute.
Roll pieces of dough into ropes, then cut into small bite size pieces.
Dry in a dehydrator 16 to 24 hours, or until pieces are crunchy.
I created this video with the CZcams Video Editor ( / editor )
Watch a 17min video to just see the dog .. ignore the treat 🤣🤣
Lol gotta love picky dogs...she only liked some of the flavors
Lovely video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Parlandealey Pets Yummy Process (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing exclusive product for discovering healthy recipes for dog food minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my BF at very last got excellent results with it.
How long does this dry dog food last ?
We peel sweet potatoes. Our fur babies love feral hog or venison. We also put naked chicken gizzards or livers in the air fryer and get them almost crunchy; or bake some pieces of peeled sweet potatoe. They love these as treats as well as boiled eggs. We also use the powdered vitamins from Azestfor in their food to make sure they have all they need. As for veggies, they love different ones like chopped Broccoli, Zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, Peas, green beans, spinach, just to name a few. They like peeled apples and bananas, too. But i usually dice up the apple and cook it in the food. They only get 1 or 2 bites of banana because i dont want them to get a belly ache. I never give them tomatoes, white potatoes, corn, brown rice or minute rice or any kind of flour. I've also noticed that they don't drink a lot of water from their water bowl. I do make their food wet. In the past, I've run it through the blender and make it like a pate. But it's really an unnecessary step. Every time I go into the kitchen, I have 4 little faces watching and waiting for "something" yummy.
Just lost my German Shepherd this past Sunday. Had him for 10 beautiful years.. I am heartbroken. I have three other German Shepherds, but he was my baby. It's not the same without him. Vet told me he had cancer. He couldn't go to the bathroom, and that's when I took him to animal hospital where they put him down. I was with him the entire time. Was the hardest thing that I have ever been through. I believe my dog will be waiting for me on the other side. I don't believe animals lives are for nothing. Bible says; men have no advantage over animals, that they all have the same breath of life. I have read stories about children who had near death experiences that saw their pets in heaven. I pray God sees me worthy enough to be in heaven with my animals. I can't believe it's almost a week since losing my best friend, it seems like yesterday. I am having a hard time with this loss. 😭
im so sorry for your loss. i can’t imagine what i’ll do when my pomsky passses away
- just wanted to help if you still wondering and praying if God will see you worthy enough to be in heaven. If you or I were worthy enough, then Jesus wouldn't have had to come. So the answer is, none of us are worthy. We have all lied (all liars will have their part in the lake of fire - Revelation 21:8). Mankind has stolen, looked with lust (committing adulatory in our hearts), used God's name in vain, etc... God says if you've even broken one of his commands, then you're just as guilty as someone who has broken all of them (James 2:10). We are guilty before the judge of the universe. However, If you're in court and you have lots of speeding tickets, someone is able to come in and pay your fine and the judge can do with is legal and just; dismiss your case do what is legal and just and let you walk, even though you're guilty. Well, it was Jesus who paid the speeding ticket. He paid the fine. Now, not because of anything we have done, but because of what God has done, we can be saved through the blood of Jesus Christ (Jesus, who came down to earth, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of the world, and rose again proving he is God). If you want to be free from an eternity of punishment (for your sins) then you need to stop relying on your worthiness to get you into heaven and start trusting in Jesus Christ so that his worthiness will now be placed "upon" you. choose today to be truly sorry for your sins against the Holy God of the universe. Turn from them and place your trust in Jesus alone (Acts 20:21). Don't play the hypocrite. Don't say I'm sorry and continue in what you know is wrong, let it be genuine (2 Corinthians 7:10). And start reading the Bible. Start in the book of John. If you have trouble reading it, read the New Living Translation (NLT). Buy the life application study bible NLT if you do not have anyone to ask questions regarding what you're reading.

This is awesome and thank you, If I may ask can this be done without a dehydrator?
I am not trying to be rude but I do not think you did any research.
I know this question is off subject, but... where did you get your dehydrator?? :) id love to make these as training treats, but my dehydrator is tiny and it would take forever! I really like yours!.. Thanks for the recipe too!!
Johnna I am so sorry I never saw this comment...I ordered mine thru Wal-Mart.com
Yeah, Johnna, I said same thing. That is a really nice dehyrdrator. I'd like to know model number or name.
Poe Lemic it's a westerman I believe
Danielle:
I think you're right. Here is a picture of one or similar. Thank you for helping get the pointer to what it could be. I plan to buy one just still trying to make up my mind. Beef jerky is too expensive now -- well, yeah, what else isn't ... right???

“Harley can’t eat it in heaven “ awwww 🐶 ❤️❤️
Thank you so much. Could you tell me about nutritional ingredient?
The main nutrients in this come from whatever protein or veggies that you add in as your extra item.
That's a treat

I don't have dehydrator. Can I sun dry them ?
isnt milk bad for dogs, i heard it causes dhiarrea. in case, whats a good substitute for milk?
Some dogs tolerate it, powdered adds extra protein...our dogs have always gotten table food...if you are concerned doubkke check with your vet
This is a really good video to explain your process. What type of dehyrdrater is that? Can you give me a link to it? And let me know what you paid about? I think dog food is getting so expensive for the good stuff that we're going to make it ourselves.
Poe Lemic sorry it's a Weston. Here is a link for one www.amazon.com/Weston-Veggie-Dehydrator-10-Tray-75-0201-W/dp/B001V7GX0W
Okay, thank you. Very affordable. I saw a video about dog food (maybe this was it), but my dog has special needs now and can't have chicken. EVERY DOG FOOD HAS CHICKEN -- seems like. So I've got to make it at home to save money. Thanks again.
@Panda Chan Please don't give anything with flour. Make google your best friend. There's so much you can find on the web if you look it up seriously. The rule should be to never give something you are not even sure. By the way, milk should be the one specific to dogs. Milk that humans drink is a poison for them.

@@DanielleDignin Thank you. We bought one. A different one, but it is nice and works well. But, thanks for giving me a link. But, I still haven't perfected a recipe yet.
Thanks Danielle I am going to try that and when i do i will let u know the temperature and how long so that u can pass it on in case there are others out there like me that don't have a dehydrator to use
Danielle what brand of peanut butter did you use ?
Thank you
If you don't have a dehydrator is there another way to do that?
I haven't tried any other way but u could probably try a very low oven
Did your dog ever eat it? How about the other, bigger dogs? I wouldn't mind making these, but not if the dogs won't eat 'em.
Flour and milk powder!!! I would rather buy some dry kibble online from stores like Petcarerx or Petco.
Danielle with the dry food can you put it in the oven if so fo how long and at what temperature
Raco Edwards I haven't tried that but I imagine that would work as well. I'd say at the lowest temp your oven has and I'd check it every hour or so to see if it's finished. In the dehydrator it does take a while
There are healthier substitutions for all purpose flour. Like chickpea or almond flours.
Thanks for the video and showing how it’s done, however no nutrition in this.
Pls what if I don't HV all these tools..
I have not tried drying them in a low oven but that may be an option to try
how long the dog food last?
Kevin Allen it really depends on how big your dog is and how much they eat a day...the batch made enough to fill a gallon bag 3/4 full to full depending on the size of the pieces. My grams dog is a yorky so she only eats about half a cup a day or so. I made 5 different kinds and mixed them together for a bit of variety...she was picky though and would only eat certain flavors lol I sent it to a friend who has a Shepard and he was able to eat it for at least a couple days after what I had already fed my grams dog for a week. If u have a young dog, it would be a great training treat too
Danielle Dignin thank you
No problem...I know my friends dog loved it...he has asked me to make more but I've had some swelling in my hands and its been hard to do that much rolling and cutting this past month
they didn't do so bad
This is more like a dog treat- there is no meat in this at all which is not healthy! Please don't give this to your dog as food
Use the dough hook it will make it easier
Which flour?
I tend to use all purpose flour as I try to always have that on hand...thanks for asking
+Danielle Dignin Thanks
@@nisanththapasya4923 please don't give your dog flower... it doesn't matter what kind. Under no circumstances is flower appropriate for a dog, it has ZERO nutritional benefits. This is an incredibly unbalanced recipe, that should not be used as a food source or even as a treat.
Can I use an oven?
I would imagine so though I never tried it myself
Flour??? poor dog's digestive tract.
m 11 is it not good for dogs ?
I try to use corn flour. :/ I only give them flour when I add bread that we don't finish.

Where's the meat
This was just one batch...i made a few different kinds of proteins and mixed them all together after they were completely dried out
@@DanielleDignin this is not appropriate, even for a treat! There is absolutely NO nutritional value in this recipe. If you want to make treats, dehydrate some beef or chicken. It's simple and nutrient dense. This is nothing more than a clump of flower.
The interruptions are distracting.
Gud
Should have used a dough hook.
Is your child’s name Nonna? That’s my grandmother name.
My daughter's name is Skye but we call my grandmother Nana
Use the oven
She don’t listen
In this video, it is HORRIBLE THAT your friend was INTERRUPTING talking in the background, because your friend DID NOT let people hear your comments on the ingredients your were explaining on your video. THAT WAS ENOYING and NOT HELPFUL.
vitkomazzetti I apologize for that. I have put the ingredient list in the description
vitkomazzetti that's her daughter dumb ass
You can still figure out what is in it , some people just have to be ignorant pricks . And it’s a little girl cooking with her mommy making food for her doggy , I’m sure she is so excited about this , it’s pretty obvious . I guess u didn’t have any experiences as a young kid hanging out with your mom or dad doing fun things . I miss these days

It's ok
Danielle Dignin thanks for forgiving
@@lackythedog8620 no worries...i can respect your opinion and thoughts even if I don't agree that's the beauty of freedom
LMFAO 💀
No don’t let me tell u multiple times
Is this food or treats. Dogs shouldn’t eat so much flour. Please don’t use this for homemade kibble.
Annoying video with the disruptive child commenting and intruding. I get involving your kids but keep it a more to the point recipe video so it makes it worth the watch. Kids dont know what their doing and just add unnecessary time and annoyance to a cooking video. Add your kids to anything else except any instruction videos.
Where's the meat? Or even fruit and veg? Speaking as a qualified canine nutritionist, I hope you aren't feeding that food full time as it is in no way a balanced diet, I wouldn't use them as treats either.
Nice video content! Apologies for the intrusion, I am interested in your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Parlandealey Pets Yummy Process (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good one off guide for discovering healthy recipes for dog food without the hard work. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my friend at last got cool success with it.
scoutpups No it is not a full time food but would love suggestions on what to add to help balance it out better
Danielle digin try MEAT?????? You are actually asking that question??? Wow. I have no idea where you found this recipe but you need to burn it before it kills your dog....dogs do NOT eat flour!! Try orijen food, read their label etc. Tell me how much flour you find. I feel sorry for your dog. I'm sure she's not picky, just being fed garbage
SamIsSquishy I usually do a variety, with some with cheese, and salmon, and veggies and so on to have a mixed flavors...thanks for your comment and suggestions

Why is everyone such dicks ? U can get a valid point across in an appropriate manner without being rude . If you don’t like what she is doing then go do something else other than being a dickhead on someone’s channel , and who is it you think you are anyway ? Like your opinion means shit to anyone , that’s why you come on CZcams and say stupid shit like this , I bet no one bothers even talking to you in real life , your that person everyone knows who thinks they are better than everyone else and always has to insert your opinion , even on stuff that’s none of your business . A drama queen . I’m guessing your a very lonely person , prolly have like 15 cats . I bet I hit it right on the nose . Lmao
I am a dog nutritionist and this food was the worst dog food I have ever seen.
Dogs are carnivores and most of their food should be meat. Their food should have a lot of meat, a little amount of vegetables and a very little amount of carbohydrates.
If you give this food to your dog, it will soon cause many problems.
Why would you make a dry kibble!? 😕 dry kibble is completely unnecessary and keeps your dog in a constant state of dehydration. You would be better off feeding a whole food, species appropriate, raw diet! It would cut your time in half and be more nutritionally beneficial for your dog.
Dogs don't need dry food! The amount of flower used in this recipe is proof of the unnecessary ingredients in a dry kibble. Flower is completely useless nutritionally for a dog. This recipe is completely unbalanced and dangerous!, your missing several key macro and micro nutrients. It's also severely mineral deficient! Do not feed this recipe long-term, your dog will develop nutritional deficiencies. Your basically feeding your dog a clump of flower, as a certified k9 nutritionist this is very concerning..
So is dry dog food in general bad? I have a dog and he's been eating dry dog food since he was a pup.
@@Ty-iz9wd yes! Dry dog food is not good in general. A natural fresh food diet is more beneficial than kibble... my 4 Rottweilers are raw fed, no kibble!
i wanted to give them raw diet but they sleep with me on the bed and lick me on the face when they feel it is time to wake me up 😂😂😋😂😂 . so i am scared of salmonella and other things on raw food. i cook their food my self though.
Im sorry your weirdo is too cute look after hi with a dose of discipline plz thk you
It didn't like it
That video wa awful....i did not understood nothin ....and didnt saw nothin
I'm so sorry, the angle isn't the best. Is there question I can clear up?
This food will kill your dog. Just saying. Flour and oil are two of the most unhealthy things for dogs. Why in the world would you ever purposely make this? I will reply to this comment with a better recipe
1lb gr. Beef
1lb gr. pork
2/3 cup (minced) of: broccoli florets, sweet potato, carrot (not baby carrots), radishes and mangoes
2 cups black bean paste
*No oil, oil causes bloat in dogs, ever wondered what it would feel like to have your stomach twisted upside down and ripped open? Yeah neither does your dog, be smart.*
Mix meat and minced veggies together evenly, then make it into as many marble-size pieces as you can, place in dehydrator for 8-10hrs @ 160f.
Serve to pooch with berries and a fresh cracked raw egg. Add spinach and banana for higher energy dogs.
Never EVER give your dog any kind of grain if you can help it and absolutely avoid oil at all costs, not only is it bad for your dog, the food itself will be much easier on your dehydrator without it having to draw extra oil out of the kibble.

@@TeresaV only change is really make is to leave the gizzards raw, as long as yours will eat em raw.
@@TeresaV and with that diet you should be fine to drop the vitamins, they're only very useful for dogs with digestive problems or very picky eaters. A diet of raw meat, veggies and fruit does provide all necessary nutrients as long as it's balanced correctly
Healthy dog food is meat, but that's more expensive of course. This is more like a treat.
What the actual heck is this?
It certainly isn't dog food 🤦🏼♀️
This should only be a treat. Dogs need meat
This was only 1 "flavor", I made multiple batches using different things like peanut butter, salmon, or cheese
Cheese and peanut butter isn't meat? Dogs should be eating a balanced raw diet, not a bowl of flour
Meat!!!!
Thanks! I really did not
Want buy puppy food🍲🍲
pleaaaase tell me this is a joke. There's no protein or any essential items a dog needs. And flour?! Seriously?! Use this as a treat! This shouldn't even be a treat.
I found the kid very distracting jeez....
Way way way to much grain. Dogs don't eat grains. Their food should be 80%-90% meat.
Wat do you think ur getting in your dog chow
