I’m so glad you mentioned the Funk brothers! To Love Somebody was written for Otis Redding. I can’t imagine how soulful his version would’ve been. With that being said, that is one of my favorite Bee Gees songs. It wouldn’t be summer without Sly blaring out of the car radio! That Lady 🥇 it’s 4 o’clock in the morning dammit! EJ rocks. 17 Days is as good as Doves…. Great selections.

Fun fact. Stars On 45 holds the record (no pun) for the #1 with the longest official title. Great stuff there. I love 45s, I have over 10k 45s in my collection! Nice to see someone else showcasing them on their channel. I don't think 45s get enough love in the VC. I show them when I can. Thanx for the video!
That definitely tracks, Bozz! Over 10k - damn! I am more in the 1.2k range, and my time frame for buying them was from around 7 years old all through my teenage years. Since jumping on the VC train I've gone back and waxed (no pun) nostalgic a bit with all those 45's I have, and I may start up again - who knows! Hey Ed! Always good to recharge the batteries! I grew up in the era of 45's, but only ones I have now are ones that come in box sets. Makes me very nostalgic seeing some of those labels. Cheers!
Thanks Steve! A recharge was definitely in order. Some of those old labels are pretty cool, and I will tell you that a good chunk of my 60's 45's really hold up sound wise and wear like iron. They pretty much were made for teenagers who would not take care of them (the horror!), so those pressing plants knew what they were doing! Thanks! I had fun putting this list together. I collected as many Prince 45's as I could back in the 80's - it was all about the B sides, since those tracks could not be found anywhere else for years.
I will jump on this and show some 45s in my next video. You have some killer 45s! I usually only buy them if they have cover art, which is limiting, but I have to consider space. I love Stars on 45!!!! That Prince 45 is so cool and you are so right about the B-sides. Drink that cherry wine! I just bought Venus for my hubby. Great video.

Great video idea, Ed! I didn't start buying 45s until last year when I became obsessed with buying Beatles' singles with picture sleeves. A fun addition to the hobby! P.S. I could have sworn I left this comment here yesterday. Now I am wondering whose video I left that comment for!

I was in my local store in my town yesterday and she had a box of singles, and I actually got that Bananarama single. Lovely ladies! Truth be told, I probably have less than a dozen 7"s in my collection.
It was much needed, that was for sure, Mark! I had fun putting this list together, and buying 45's starting from when I was around 7 yrs old was how it all began. Plus, my older sister was fed up with me borrowing & playing her records all the time - ha! Sidebar - when I was on my way home I ducked into Instant Karma Records in Orleans. Pretty great selection, and not sure if you've been there yourself. I'll be showing what I bought after a few listens. Enjoy the rest of this freakin' hot Sunday!
