Nike is set to release four new React Element 55 colors this weekend, and the shoes go on sale Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10 a.m. EDT. The available color options include Black Volt, Black & Solar Red, Black & White, and Black & Aurora.
The React Element 55 is similar, yet markedly different, to the Nike React Element 87, and the release of the former quickly followed the limited, and successful, release of the latter. Similarities between the 55 and 87 are numerous, including a sole of Nike’s proprietary React foam that showcases concave features and color accents under the heel and forefoot. Neither the 55 nor the 87 is likely to be seen on a starting line, and Nike claims that each React Element model is made to provide all-day comfort in casual settings.

The primary difference between the 55 and 87 is the upper. The 87 featured a nearly see-through upper that was light and hard to find on other shoes. The 55’s upper is a more common blend of synthetic materials, but it presents itself fashionable. A second notable difference is that the 55 will go on sale for $130, compared to the $160 price tag attached to the 87s.

Cesium and Francium (55 and 87) are considered the most reactive elements in the periodic table. So it's basically word play on the "react" cushioning by them choosing these elements.

the 55's are the way to go, I mess with the 87"s translucent upper, BUT I don't not fool with some of those ridiculous prices the 87's are being resold for ! so yea the 55's are the way to go I can just head to footlocker or Nike Town and copped them no problem !
i have 3 pairs of element 87's and i just got the black/red 55's in the mail and im trying them on and they arent that good. they look cheap the toungue is flimsier than the 87 and they fit tighter even when i half sized up. The only elements 87's selling for alot are the original sails. pretty much any other color can be had for a reasonable price. Id highly recommend sticking with those.

Reasons why the names are given so
React Element 87 has more reactive sole , more expensive ( with reference to Francium being about a few billion dollars for 100gm & being very unstable )
React Element 55 is cheaper and has less reactive sole ( with reference to Cesium being 535 $ for 100 gm and more stable )

Own a few pairs of 87s and picked up a pair of the 55s. I easily prefer the 87s. Same comfort but the more premium upper makes a huge difference for me and much better color options. Also, it’s my SOTY. Fuck the hype, when I first saw the leaks I fell in love with the style and then getting them in hand/ on feet finalized it.

I made the switch over to elements. After buying 23 pairs 270 and 12 pairs of 720 was a freaking waste of money they are so uncomfortable they looked cool so I bought so many not thinking. I bought 1 pair of elements 55 most comfortable shoes I have ever worn with adidas nmd now been buying the 55 like crazy.

I'm only in year 8/8th grade, but my understanding is that both of these elements go fucking bananas if you drop them in water. I mean no1 knows abt francium cos it's so rare, there are only smthng like 12 atoms of it on the planet but yh basically caesium is hella reactive, and francium (unless there is some mad anomaly) is even more reactive

I think there named after the react element 55 and 87 is because both elements on the table are extremely reactive,Nike could be saying it Gives you more comfort then the normal react or other shoes.
I think nike sent me the women’s size, but I had to send mines back because they did not fit true to size but my local mall has all three of the color ways so I might just pick up in the mall

The 55 is NOT a good winter shoe just saying! I know from my own experience wearing them in a freezer at work my feet got super cold AF wearing them so they are too thin of an upper and must be very breathable if my feet were freezing
What do you think of the 3 new Element 87 colorways coming out in a few days? I can't seem to find much information on them and it doesn't look like they have as much hype. Which is good because I've been trying to cop a pair for a while. I like the "Knicks" colorway, but can't find any pics or video of them on feet.

i do not know why they choose 87 and 55. but what i know is, the reason why 87 is more expensive than 55.
Francium is one of the most expensive natural elements, if you wanted to produce 100 Gram if Francium, expect to pay few billion dollars for it.
meanwhile, Cesium only cost you $1100 per 100 Grams.

well, that explain why they choose the number 87 and 55. and, if they put the 87 name on the more expensive shoe because they look up to the price of the element as consideration. i think that it is really genius, some sort of easter egg in form of sneakers

What should I get for an everyday shoe. Element 55, alpha bounce, or air max 270
for casual wear i would chose the alpha bounce but the 270 or 250 looks better in my opinion.

I went with the 55 for the exact cons you pointed out about the 87's, I dont like the see through upper at all and a cork insole is not worth $30 bucks to me.

Ben Short yes it is. I have both and the 87 material is much more durable and lasts longer. Also prone to not rip as easy if you somehow snag your shoe. 8u material is also more breathable and is a different feel.

I’m with the 55s. I got lucky and picked up the volt pair for 90 bucks on stockx. I just hope the 55 gets cool and unique different color ways like the 87. Then the 55 would be lots of people’s pick I think. Colorways are just basic right now.
I doubt nike will give the 55's any better colorways than the 87. i dont even think men are going to get the suede 55's either but who knows. I just got my black red pair of 55's and they dont come close to the 87's, they look and feel cheap and run tighter. I mean theyre ok for walkin around i guess ill beat them but the 87's id definitely recommend.
I returned my element 55s because I the heel counter would rub and chafe above my heel, does anyone else have this problem? (I always wore long socks with them)
Try wearing the smallest and thinnest socks that only cover up your heel.

Edward Rios it helps. The long socks are usually uncomfy to wear. So i try thin socks. The heels feel more comfy.

the 55's are way more flimsy than the 87's especially on the tongue which makes the 87's look stiff. they also run tighter and the materials look and feel like a downgrade. I wouldn't recommend unless you just really like the more muted colorways.

@@souljaboi62121 my advice go with the 12 in certain jordans like 3 10s and sometimes you can get the 12 and break them in or certain sneakers a 13 fits like a 12.5 for example footposites vapormax air max 95 but getting a sneaker too big can mess up your feet jordan concords or patent leather you can do a 13 but then they would crease

That translucent upper gives the shoe SO MUCH versatility. 55s ain't bad but I'd rather get the other React Running models that are almost more than 50% off.
