I love the 59 buick what a beautiful car 58 buick was a real beauty as well ..
OMG I'm in Love Again 🥰 Now, All I have to do is Win the Lottery to buy this Beauty.
One of the most iconic designs of the mid-20th century and so masculine!
I was actually blessed with the pleasure to see a '59 LeSabre in person; a white four-door with the same interior as this one. The car showed up at our local town cruise night. It is one of the very few space age finned jets seen around my hometown. As a fan of these cars, it is an unfortunate deprivation for me, so watching these videos is as close as seeing them in person.
Beautiful Buick!!! Back when styling was off the leash!!!
59 was one of GM's best design years.
It really was/is. The '59 GM's we know and love though were not those originally slated to be produced. No, these were a "crash course" overhaul, done from the ground up in early-mid '57, just in the nick of time. The '58 Buick was not popular and didn't sell well. The one area that WAS carried over (from '58) fortunately was the neat grill pattern.
Yeah!!
@@bobpierce115 I had a ball as a 12 year old, trying to keep all that acrylic lacquer and those little squares shiny on my mama's '59 Electra 225 !!
That's a really nice memory. I bet you did a great job, too! :-) @@ervinthompson6598
This and the '59 Bonneville are favorite's of mine. 🧡👍🏾
Those angled head lamps give the grill an angry look! 😊
The '59 Buick was such a nice riding car. I don't much care for your style of presentation but that was a great car.
A truly eye-popping design. It demands your attention!
Absolutely gorgeous !
I grew up with a red 59 Invicta, it was quite a car! Buick 59, the ride, the look, the CAR!
As a kid we had a white 1960 Invicta, which was similar, but the 1959 had the better grill/front end.
Oh that is a beauty. Absolutely love 59 Buicks. This Invicta must be the best one left, and the colour is magic. All the best from Canada...
Always one of my lifelong favorites. Right up there with some of Exner’s best.
My absolute favorite. It’s looks like it would lift of the road with enough speed:) gorgeous/beautiful rear wings.
Given his, uh, strenuous approval for late 'fifties Chryslers, our host's fondness for 1959-60 Buicks is understandable. Growing up in the 1960's, my neighbors had one of these Buicks in a station wagon (yes, I know!). Howsomever, it still looks like a warped deck of cards to me. Give me something subtle instead - like a '59 El Dorado in bright blue firemost paint with a silver roof!
My Dad had a '59 Invicta wagon with factory air- on a 90 degree day sitting front seat in the middle, the AC outlet would drip cold water on my ankles !!
Another awesome `59. I'll take one of each from 1959 (full size): Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Cadillac. I can't choose. They are all too cool.
My grandparents owned a ‘59 Buick LeSabre just like this one, only in green. I always watched the dash when
grandma was driving. Great memories.
Love love love love these 59s!
When autos were pure works of art.
So gorgeous. I built models of this car. Always thought it was the best looking '59 GM car. Certainly beat up on all the other mfgs as well. Thanks Charles.
So very true!
With the exception of that being Cadillacs Pinnacle year, I will admit 59 Buick‘s especially convertibles are gorgeous, but big brother 59 Cadillac legendary and stunning front to back. And I’ll be happy with either, those cars and some of the Dodge /Chrysler /Plymouths of same year best fins in the whole game. Iconic fins of the 59 Cadillac puts it at the top of that list. 59 Buick Strong second.
It is inarguably a beautiful design. What I notice is the “fins” that start at the door and extend half the length of the car. Then I see the chrome accent strip that goes the entire length of the car. It really emphasizes the car is l-o-n-g
Super Random- check out the "B" in the Buick emblem on back of the car- is that a stylized on/off ramp for super hi-way turnpike cruising? I say it is and what super-subtle styling cue! Fantastic, fin-tastic '59 Buick! I know 1959 Cadillacs get all the love and attention, but IMO, Buick for 59 is the more radical and astounding design. And that revised from 1958 Dynastar grill- like hundreds of cufflinks getting your attention.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Behold the blandness of the Lexus behind it. This Buick is an Area 51 poster child!
I love the way you describe things. You have a real gift for that! I never would have thought to describe the armrest as "foot long hot dog shaped" but you're right, that's exactly what it looks like!
I was 6 in 1959 and clearly remember my best friend's family had a '59 Buick in light green. I was always fascinated when his mom would drive us somewhere (no seatbelts of course) and started the car by turning the ignition key to "on" and pushing the gas pedal to the floor to activate the starter.
I had forgotten shat a beautiful car this was...is!
I am a 1960 model, but I take my hat off to the '59s🤣❤❤
I love both the '59 and '60 Buicks. Same thing with both year's Chevy and Cadillac. Toned down yes, but not too much. The Pontiac and Oldsmobile though, no.
What a magnificent vehicle!
Best review of the 1959 Buick Invicta I've ever seen...
Narration 10 out of 10. You had me at hot dog door handles. Subscribed.
😍Beautiful Buick!!!!!👍
Keep em coming ....
Charles Charles Charles..... I LOVE LOVE LOVE you and the way you describe all those wonderful details!!! Thank you so much for being part of our lives. The car is beautiful....... "I know"!!
he sounds like a strip-show barker on speed
PS-it was problems with the Dynaflow xmission that tanked sales

@@albertrossetti1491 no way that I would be envious or jealous of him, except the cars. My voice is not broadcast quality either but don't narrate YT videos. BTW how many times can "look at THAT" be used in a car review?
Love your videos. Keep the classics alive!
Greetings from Argentina!
Invicta means invincible. America was still feeling it after WW2.
A work of art.
Mid century marvelous! Those details... I know 😎
My favorite year for Buick . Buick has always been a beautiful Car !
Behold the Glory that is... Charles Phoenix!!
I know!
TOO MUCH to behold! WOW! You had to whisper to keep from going into mental overload. I get it. Thanks for sharing this!
I was 9 when these babies were new. Just starting to understand what the 'new car' thing was. It was a time, man. It was a time.
1959....Canted Headlights...Angry Front Brow....Delta Fins....Jet Pod Tail Lights.....Mid Century Mod Seat Pattern......Copper Glow Paint...YES YES YES!
My Dad Had 1959 Buick 4 Door Hardtop. Huge Car Inside And Outside. Big Fins Wide Seats And Rode Smooth Like On A Cloud Floating. However Next Year Dad Downsized To A 1960 Buick 4 Door Sedan The Fins And Front End Were Down Sized. Still A Nice Car Tho And Was Quicker On Take Off And Gaining Speed. I Never Shared That With Dad Tho. He Probably Knew My Driving Habits Changed When Out Of Sight. Both Buicks Were Wonderful Cars. Dad Had Several Buicks Beginning With 1950 And On. Don't Forget The Electra 225. Duce And Quarter. ❤
Must have been unreal to have been alive and rich enough to afford these cars back in 59/60 - the peak of US car design and construction.
Invicta Rules my dude...
Luv the factory air & ill spend my entire retirement funds to make sure it's workin properly,
#daddy hot flashes 😮
When cars were CARS + names were NAMES!
Charles always a way with words. Great video and GORGEOUS CAR!
How did/do they contort that sheet metal so smoothly, consistently bend after bend. Such intense directional changes of the bends.Incredible.
The 1959 Buick Invicta was the coolest, badass looking car ever made!!! It had a look that said; get the fuck out of my way!!! Those canted headlights and that angry looking grill were AWESOME!!! In 1960, they toned down the styling a bit but they were still Awesome cars with the bulletproof Nailhead engines. They had a 10,000 mile in 5,000 minutes endurance test on a 60 Invicta with an average speed of 120 MPH & only stopped for tire & driver changes. The refueling was done on the roll like with Jets!!! The Invicta finished the test in under 5,000 minutes & could have gone much longer!!! So that says right there who makes the best American cars!!! It's a no brainier!!! BUICKS,especially the Invictas & Wildcats!!!
Real beauty & workmanship in this model. P.Tx.
0:40 1959 was the only year Buick used that "Martian" logo.
Thank you, Charles!
My second favourite ’50s car after the ‘57 Oldsmobile.
I love the butterscotch metallic paint. Very unique car.
This is a treasure (like you). Thanks for sharing
Wow, thank you
It was one my favorite cars growing up outside U.S I was born 1961 and always thinking did early 70's BMW 2002 tail light(the round ones) fit in place of the tail light of 59 buick!
Hi charles love those cars . Cheers mate🇦🇺
The 1959 GM cars were extraordinary works of art. Followed closely by the 1960 models.
Awesome
this is one of my favorites. it looks so masculine and aggressive
Nice car. Over the top. I’d need power windows and 4 doors
Almost the same as the 59 Le Sabre Custom, four door hardtop that my step-father had. His was the same color, had a similar interior and factory air.
Uh huh, oh yeah 👍
Chrysler did silver vinyl on 61 Polara and Darts on their door panels in a vertical pattern centered around arm rest. Definitely a eyecatcher.
Invicta is a great name that Buick should have used much longer. Invicta would have been a better name than LaCrosse when Buick renamed its mid-size car for 2005.
This was when a transformation took place at all of GM!
Think 🤔 the color is Copper Glow 😅
Sound like a young Kevin Spacey
crack me up!
I wish we could have viewed the inside of the engine compartment and trunk area. Does this Invicta have factory air conditioning? I viewed the video on mute, so if it was mentioned about whether it has a/c or not, I was unable to hear it. I love the 1959 Buick's styling and I feel that the design is much more attractive than the 1959 Cadillac lineup. I would appreciate hearing from someone about the a/c question.
Yes factory a/c
That big metal vent under the radio and at either end of the dash give it away.
I'm looking into getting an Electra 225 4-door flattop~
I know…….
I saw the pic of you meeting with Alison Martino. It's a little newer than what you usually go for, but any plans for a Joyride vid of her Mercedes?
No, I only cover American cars
I own a 1956 Mercury Montclair that has 'Silver Vinyl' interior trim pieces on the door panels. I wish I could find a source, because mine is wearing out!
Move over Virgil Exner!
Marvin the Martian.
Mylar!
what is the narrator on?

When I think of how beautiful the 1954,1955 & 1956 Buick’s were, this one just makes me feel like GM was grasping at straws trying to come up with a winning formula. Obviously this was not it and they had been moving in the wrong direction the last few years, because all you had to do was look at the sales figures. They declined every year through the 1960 model.
That's in your opinion🤔I totally disagree!🧐🤨Each to their own!!!😝🤪👍
@@keithdukes5990
I totally agree. My opinion and a dollar might get you a cup of coffee. I remember these when they were slightly used (I was born in 1956) and I thought that the 1959 Cadillac was even worse. I used to dislike the 1959 Chevrolet, but now I think that it is about the coolest 50’s Chevrolet. Maybe the Buick will evolve in my likes and dislikes!
The commentary is ridiculous lol
HOLLY SMOKES.........
I make body parts for those cars that fit like paint. AMCsheetmetal.
