I just got all my new speakers today. I got the same front and rear speakers you did coincidently, but have a JBL club in the center dash. I think mine truck has the factory speakers. I am excited to hear the difference they will produce. Thanks for the awesome video.
Awesome! I hope the video helped! Have you installed them yet? I’m curious how they worked for you. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Great job , good, clean , no nonsense video! 👍🏼
Thank you! I hope it helped you! Also, thank you for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Very good info on removing the door panels. Thanks
Thank you sir! It’s not as scary as I originally thought.
Killer video. Doing this to my 2019 this weekend!
Thanks brother! Enjoy!

Insane video. Amazing job
Thank you! I appreciate the time it took for you to watch and comment!
I would spray and clean the area after the old one was out but BEFORE the new one was sitting there. Interesting choice to spray and wipe with new speaker sitting there.
You’re right… I’ll try to do better. Thank you for taking the time to comment and for watching!
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 I wasn't trying to be so critical. I was just thinking out loud I guess. I winced at the thought of damage to the nice new speaker.
Anyway, thanks for the video! I already thumbed it up.
@@BPoweredLove No worries! No, it was a great point! Was it worth the upgrade?
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 I just got the truck so I haven't done it yet. 😊
I love my Sony system in my 2017 F-150 lariat fx4 sport 5.0l v8 from factory. Sounds Awesome!!!!
If wasn’t bad at all, I just wanted to take it up a notch! Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Nice, did you consider changing the tweeters in the A pillars? I really want to do a complete system swap too. Nice video. Let us know what amp you decide on.
I’ll do that. Regarding the tweeters. I think I’ll leave them along. Due to the 6x9s in the door the highs are great but not overwhelming. I think you can over do the high ends. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
First of all, great video. Makes me want to go and do my truck too! You make it look easy lol.
2nd. Do you have a video up for the subwoofer install? I just came across your channel and haven’t had a chance to watch a lot of your other videos yet.
Thank you for the kind words! That truck had a factory Sony system with sub installed. I did not change out the factory sub. Regarding the install it wasn’t bad at all. Take your time and make it count… you’ll be happy with the results.
really good Video, that is the speakers I want install in my F150 Lariat 2016, I got the factory kicker subwoofer, sound good but I think with the kickers the sound will be much better!!!!
thank U for your help sharing the parts, great help.
Glad I could help! Let me know if you run into any problems and I will try to help! Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
I bought I believe the same front speakers just the magnet was too big and I didn’t get a adapter bracket for them and wasn’t sure if I put one on if my door panel will fit back on
Great video! Do you happen to know if any of these upgrades would affect the auto start/stop system when driving down the road? I've heard of some issues of peoples audio system turning off along with the start/stop system.
Great question… I haven’t had any issues with mine since I made the install. Also to note a friend of mine has a 2018 and he also upgraded his speakers no issues with his either. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Good video - do you have to worry about the speakers being waterproof? Doesn't the backside of that panel see water? Isn't that why the vapor barrier there? Just curious - thanx
Thank you. No sir I’m not worried about moisture but they make speaker specific protectors for moisture and dirt. Personally it hadn’t been a problem for me over the years. Of course adding protection never hurt either. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
I have a 2016 F150 Crew Cab XLT not Sony. When replacing speakers in truck do I need to install a new amp or does the factory stereo provide enough power to the new speakers?
Great question. You could add a amp to the system but it’s not necessary. Every factory system has an amp built in, it’s just not all that powerful but will be plenty to drive the bee speakers. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Neo magnets don't mean a bad speaker. People show these OEM speakers with tiny magnets and don't realize that is done for weight. It is actually more expensive.
awesome video! I have a few questions. Will all these speakers work if I don't have the Sony sound system? I'm curious, how come you didn't change out the tweeters in the A pillar? How many Harnesses would I need to order for all the speakers?
Yes you can install these speakers with any factory or aftermarket head unit. I didn’t change the tweeters because they are sufficient and the replacement for them can be a little challenging. Reference the description and I have everything listed. The kit comes with two adaptors so you’ll need two kits for the front and back speakers. Please me know if you have anymore questions.
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 Awesome! thanks for your response!
I have a truck with no center speaker. I do have the place for it....but it's simply storage (like the front part of yours) . Can they be retrofitted to allow a center ?
I’m not sure… I’m sure it can be done. I will not be doing that to my new truck which is a STX. Not only would you have to modify the storage bin you’d have to wire in the new speaker to the system. For what you get out of the center speaker I wouldn’t bother. Just my opinion. Thank you for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Would installing these speakers without having the premium audio amp still benefit? Assuming the stock head unit and Xlt base sound system. Thinking of doing the console and all 4 doors as well.
It’s definitely going to make an improvement… the stock system regardless of trim will still still through power to the aftermarket speakers and the aftermarket speakers will definitely be noticeable.
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 Thanks. I noticed that the center console speaker requires splicing as well, for anyone interested with the same stock system I have.
@@twentyonetoone9783 correct… you will not notice a huge difference with that speaker by the way…. But anything I’d better than stock speakers. They are terrible.
You need spacers for the rear? I thought they are already 6.5
What did you end up doing with the tweeters on the Pilar’s? I see that most of all your speakers were either a two or three way! So theirs a lot of high end.
I kept the pillar tweeters stock. I didn’t want to have to customize the install on those. There is not a direct for replacement that I am aware of. They sounded just fine with the new speakers.
Hey pal, not seeing the link for the panel removal kit. Just wondering where you got it from. Thanks
Oh yes, I forgot to add that... Here is what I bought! amzn.to/36Z6PuR
When I click on the amazon link for the 3-1/2" speakers that goes on the dash, Why does it want me to buy a "pair" when it is only one speaker to replace?
Yeah I had to do the same… unfortunately no manufacturer makes a single 3 1/2 at least that I am aware of.
Do I need to put a speaker cover/grill over my speaker or will it affect the sound?
No cover needed since the door panel provides a cover. The cover will not impact the sound. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Did you use the same harness for the dash speaker or is that something different?
I've got a stupid question...
The Amazon description is a little vague on one of these speakers can't remember which one now but...
Are all these speakers sold in pairs? And if so what did you do with the 2nd 3.5" (center dash speaker).
Thanks.
Yes they are all sold in pairs and the plan is to install the extra one in my wife’s expedition. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 did these speakers improve overall loudness and clarity quite a bit?
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 oh and do you need the speaker harness for the center speaker too?
For the simplest install buy the speaker adapter kits listed. They plug right into the factory connection.
Look for the keyword harness… that’s essentially what it is. I have a link in the description.
Would there be any difference to the install on a B&O system? Have a 2018 lariat and the B&O is awful.
I think it will be similar… I think that system has more powered watts than the Sony system which should yield some nice power aftermarket speakers!
Hey did you ever get this done I have the same exact truck as you I’m very curious
@Jersey Rolla Not yet, read through several pages and forums and sounds like its pretty simlar. Whatever speakers go in will be limited to the b&o system output though
Do the brackets come with the kicker or separate? Good video, thanks.
If you’re referring to the mounting brackets you have to purchase them separately. Thanks for watching!
Can you do 6x9’s on all four doors front/rear with the plastic speaker pods???
Sorry for the late response. No 6 1/2 for the rear doors. If you want bigger speakers (6x9 in this case) you’ll have the modify the door.
Thanks for the info, just replaced them with kickers. 6x9 fronts and 6.5 rears.
I ordered two harness kits for front and back but what harness did you use for the front dash 3 1/2 speaker
No harness is needed. You cut and splice that speaker in. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
I purchased the same speakers and mounting parts. Unsure how to connect the speaker to the mount. Any advice would be helpful.
It’s been some time now but if I recall I used the factory screws to mount the new speakers. Line up the bracket and screw the speakers into place.
I’m not sure if I helped any? Is that what you were talking about?
Do you have to have the brackets on a 2015 f150 to install the kickers?
The brackets make the install easier and cleaner. If you’re really good you could maybe install without but in my opinion how cheap the brackets are just get them
and install will be a while lot easier. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Did you need a different adapter for the 3.5 speaker?
If you’re talking about the dash center speaker you will have to cut and splice that speaker. I hope this helps!
Do you know if these brackets and harness work for the 2020 model
I do not know for a fact but there wasn’t a year range so it should work. If it doesn’t Amazon is awesome about returns. I hope this helps.
Still using the tweeter at the A pillar even your speaker is a 3 way?
Yes, I did continue to run my factory pillar tweeters. To be honest they really didn’t add a lot to mix. In my opinion, the three ways balanced everything out.
Did you have an amplifier for the door speakers?
I do not… the factory steel/amp is more than enough to amp the new speakers.
Watching you drag this speaker with its metal connections on the dashboard makes me twitch.
Sorry for the sudden cause of twitching… it does happen sometimes on the channel! Thanks for watching!
Do you have to put an AMP in for these speakers?
No, an additional amp is not required. Your head unit has a amp built in it already. However you can always add amp if you wanted to but it’s not required. Thanks for taking the time to comment and watching!
i have a 2015 lariat with the sony speakers. the stereo sounds terrible. i cant wait to take the speakers out. watching this for some tips.
I hope it helps! It is definitely had a noticeable difference.
Did you upgrade the alternator or battery for the additional amp? Cause I want to add 2 amps and some woofers but don't know if the charging system can handle it
This truck had an amp from the factory that powered the system and the 8” sub. With some of my builds in the past I simply added a capacitor and it aided the system enough that battery and alternator was enough to do the job. It all depends on the amps you want to run. However, buying a deep cycle battery with a capacitor will definitely help you with any upgrades. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Is it worth upgrading speakers even if you don't have the Sony from factory?
Even more reason to upgrade the speakers! However if you’re happy with what you have don’t upgrade! Music is a big part of my life so I invested in some better sound.
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 this is the only vehicle I've had a stock stereo in. I over looked at least getting the Sony stereo when I got it. Just worried the factory head unit Amp won't drive anything bigger that's what I'm wondering. I don't mine getting an Amp for aftermarket speakers but it's going to be a ton more work vs just tossing speakers in.
@@YellowVtec the factory unit will drive aftermarket speakers just fine… just don’t think you’ll win in an audio competition. If you can add an amp even better bit you can run them off your factory unit.
The factory one with a smaller magnet is actually better because it has a stronger neodymium magnet
But aftermarket sounds better… thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching.
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 I was just comparing the stock center channel speakers also neodymium magnets hold their magnetic charge 10 times longer than ceramic ferrite magnets just a fun fact
Hello just wondering what screws can I use??
For the speakers I used the screws that came with the speakers.
Why didn't you clean it while the speaker was out?
No telling…
When you’re doing a project like this and recording content it can get you off task. I would have normally done that verses what I did.
How did you wire the 3.5in speaker in
I used these harnesses. Harness for factory connection to the new speaker amzn.to/3uwkLpl
Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching! Let me know if you have anymore questions
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 did you have to wire in a resistor to the speaker or anything an how does it all sounds turned up.
I didn’t use any resistors. I can definitely hear more high ends with the three way and the sound is more balance. My passenger door has a plastic rattle when the volume is up but I believe I can fix it. I just need to take the panel off again and troubleshoot it.
Did you ever consider installing a amp for all the Audio.
This system actually has a small factory Sony amp included. I did consider adding an additional amp for a behind the sit 10” sub… but that is fair as I went with that system.
Had a dodge ram 1500 with a killer stock system when I got it and went to a gmc because if the engine that was solid trash and such a disappointment after driving that for so long but the engine died on the dodge which is the real downfall with hemis but went back to Ford with the Sony system and so much better but still not a Harmon Kardon system but really close. Pretty sure Dodge trucks have the best stock sound systems imo but had the same paper cheap cheap speakers in that gmc z71 smh, rediculous for that type of truck and should be better.
You’re spot on man! Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
That detailer is for the outside of the truck..
It turns out to do really well on the interior too. I struggled for awhile to find an I interior cleaner however I finally found this gem! It works like a champ and smells great! amzn.to/3muc4up
Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!
I notice you had three females on the new speaker. The kit you recommended only has two on it. What’s the third one?
It's been 2 years but I'm pretty sure that third wire is for the tweeter and the wiring came with the speakers if I recall correctly.
2022 (or 2021, doesn't matter) and clueless hobby installers STILL judge speakers by comparing magnet size... I guess, why not? Pro installers do the same! Anyway, good to hear that upgrade led to more depth and balance (whatever that means..................).
@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 of course it matters: bigger/stronger magnet, stronger motor, stiffer suspension = promises for higher power handling = higher SPL... however, I have the impression amp hasn't changed. Anyway, all I am saying is that the factory system is thought out as a cheap (hopefully free of charge) sound solution. Of course almost any after market piece of hardware would be better, but a real overall improvement can only be achieved if other parts of the sound system are equally improved.
You replaced an 8 ohm speaker with a 4 ohm speaker. Now the center channel speaker is unbalanced and will be louder therefore ruining the soundstage. Typical audio newbie.
Don’t claim to know it all here… however I appreciate you for taking the time to comment and for watching!
Maybe you can answer my questions. I have the base model factory speakers, they are not Sony, so… what ohm are the door speakers? Looking to upgrade and the options I looked at some of the models of aftermarket speakers are 2ohm or 4ohm, which would be best?
I used the JL AUDIO C-7s on the 4 doors, 3.5 center and A pillar tweeters with the JL RD 400X4 amp. Then two 12" subs in stealth boxwith JL RD 1000 in a under backseat box. Very expensive but I saved up and bought each piece until I had a complete system and installed all at the same time. ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT.
