This wasn't sponsored but you should def check out their site regardless. It's dope af yo: bit.ly/EvervaultCustomerPageEffect.
edit: To clarify, I put the ref=Hyperplexed in the link as well as used bitly to track link clicks. Going to these brands in the future to be sponsors of these types vids would be one of the most seamless ways to integrate a sponsor so I want to be prepared with as much data for myself (and them) as possible. I really wanted to ask Evervault to sponsor but I chickened out because I wasn't sure how this vid would perform lol. Next time...

Sounds like the indie Web to me! Making Web pages into an art form comes pretty naturally to people who make pages in their off time. Just like those really old Internet sites with all the colors & formats, but with new technologies and mediums of expression added onto them, too!

About random letters. May be different in other langauges, but in java every char has an (index?), so you can generate random int [1, 26] and assign it to the char, this way you dont need a string of all characters

You don't need a random string every time. It would be much more efficient to have one really long predefined string, and only randomize the starting point, since all you need is the effect of looking like a random string.

Try using the average brightness of each character to make a mapping of brightness values to characters then use the mask to determine the brightness that should be used to choose what each character is. You can add random changes in the input brightness for choosing the character to get the noisy look of the effect you made. That should give the gradient and random characters while keeping most of the pixels at either the background color or text color (any other colors will be from anti-aliasing).
