He is not out there himself, but even if he was, he would be merely pillaging/ruining/sacrificing a place of nature ("blood of christ mountain stream"). It's a really depressing song, but it's certainly beautiful.

It was surreal and beautiful. Every emotion we felt being shared with one another through our movements. Wide smiles plastered on both of our faces. The faint sounds from the vinyl playing 'Flightless Bird' in the background played throughout the night. The tragedy of it all being that it was all pure hope and imagination. I felt their presence fade away as I opened up my eyes. The warmth and beauty of the night slipping away as fast as it came. A sad smile appeared on my face. If only she knew how obsessively I thought and wrote about her. She was my muse and I was a fool to have let her go.

This song speaks volumes to me. The meaning behind the words, what it represents in our lives, and in society... The lyrics are a little crazy, but their meaning is beautiful, and the instruments were beautiful. I play violin myself, so the sound of any classical string instrument brings me great joy. I love to write, and hearing this version for the first time, sparked a wonderful story in my mind, and I was elated to put it in writing. Slow dancing to this song was one of my greatest joys, and it is a memory that I hold very dear to my heart.

I love this song; but this rendition is so melting! It is going to be one of the songs played at my wedding (hopefully this next spring!!). I sang at my cousin's wedding and I totally bombed so I was feeling terrible, then I was supposed to sing this for their first dance but the emcee must have forgotten or skipped and I didn't want to remind him so I didn't have to get up on stage again. But! My cousin insisted I sing it. So he led his beautiful bride onto the dance floor, had me sing and I did... In fact, I sang it well. I felt sort of redeemed. The first time I heard this song I was seeing someone who i was deeply in love with. I never looked into the meaning of the lyrics but to me it was the fact that love, at least for me, was elusive but I had finally found it.
