    People need to chill tf out about clipping their whiskers. It's honestly fine and not abuse at all. But I am curious if you ever clip her ears?

      Maily Louise the whole “Horses need their whiskers for balance” is absolute bologna. Cats need their whisker for balance. This horse in this video is a pampered show horse. Please do some research.

    • @eligil4629
      @eligil4629 Před 6 lety +1

      Johanna Lilly If a horse is in moderate to heavy work which involves a lot of sweating it is important to clip in the winter months. Not only does the warm hair encourage extra sweating, but it makes the horse struggle to dry itself as the long coat stays damp. This can lead them to getting chills and becoming sick. Just as you wouldn’t wash a horse fully in the winter :)

    You really should wash your horse before clipping as dirty hair bluntness the clipper blades but they must be dry to clip or the blades won’t clip at all

    At the end of the day most things we do with horses are unnatural... wild horses have a 9 year life expectancy, these days natural is automatically associated with better.. thrush and teeth problems are natural.... of course when u do unnatural things it requires extra care and attention to deal with the problems that can be caused but in my experience most people with performance horses often strive to tend to their animals with the upmost diligence

    Hi! I'm not an expert, but you may not want to trim the muzzle hairs because they help the horse know when they are about to run into anything!

      Whiskers on horse (around the eyes and beard) are very sensitive it helps them find good food, and prevent them from bad surroundings. It's like an early warning sign when they are getting to close to something. It helps them avoid toxic plants in pastures.

  • @starcrossedgirl23
    @starcrossedgirl23 Před 7 lety +11

    Clipping whiskers is actually animal abuse in my country. You wouldn't clip a cat's whiskers either. Horses without whiskers bumb their heads a lot more frequently. Is that really worth meeting your "beauty standard"?

    • @JETEquiTheory
      @JETEquiTheory Před 7 lety +9

      Nora N cats are a quite different in how they utilize their whiskers! my mare doesnt have any cuts and is quite careful to not bump her head(:

    • @hippiesolitude5136
      @hippiesolitude5136 Před 7 lety +10

      Nora N I'm pretty sure a cat or dog's whiskers are more sensitive than a horse's. when trimming a horse's whiskers, they really don't seem to care so they are not in pain or discomfort.

    • @hippiesolitude5136
      @hippiesolitude5136 Před 7 lety +6

      Nora N Hi I own a horse and clipping whiskers to a cat is much much more harmful to a cat than a horse. Although I don't clip (because I barrel race) I do know that it doesn't to much damage to your horse
