600HP BIG BUD NUT vs LEG ARMS|He will WIN!!!

- The drawbar is what takes all the energy that is produced from the tractor and delivers it to the implement. The weakest point is where the drawbar attaches and pivots. This joint encounters a tremendous amount of force and if not lubricated properly will fail. 41 years is a good life for a part like that so hopefully we will get another 40+ when fixed! Let's watch Leg Arms (Scott Welker) work his magic and make big iron great again!

Amen Scott! I really respect you guys for how you use your platform of influence for good! We need more people in the world like you!
Good job Langarm I am very proud of what you’ve done keep up the good videos I love it
I hope my son remembers me as good father, thanks Legarms, God bless
Scott i always figured if your children turn out to be good persons that will be a good reflection on what type of person you was and will be,your father is a great example of that he should be proud of himself.
Love the big buds!! I very much appreciate the lack of foul language and the love of faith; God bless and can't wait to see more!!
Split the Tractor..you're in there now so keep going. BTW, Dad supervises and the "young Bucks" lift!! Encourage one another😉 !
seeing you spin around the floor getting that nut off really resembled Curly spinning on the floor
_Whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop!_
_Nyuk, nyuk!_
@@danielseelye6005 Wise guy eh. Pokes fingers into eyes.
Too funny watching him spin. Lol
Thank you for sharing your kind words Scott, our world would be better if we’re more kind to each other. Thank you for sharing your amazing story. God bless you and your family.
Leg Arms you and your family all inspire me! I’m 37 and have been a chef for 22 years and have been really unhappy. Honestly watching this channel I decided to pursue something I’ve been thinking about for years and that’s a career in welding. So I’m currently of January 2 of this year going back to school for welding and also working full time at my current job. But no gains are ever made without sacrifice. And I can honestly say you all were a huge push to do this. So thank you 🙏🏻 so very much! I appreciate y’all and keep up the great content! 👊💪
That timelapse of leg arms going round, and round, and round in a circle was kinda hypnotising.
That was probably an hour at minimum in real time too!
My wife was laughing so hard. Lol She ask if you are related to me. She has a relationship with her sister like you two,Very close. I love seeing how Great you 2 are with you Dad. I sure miss My Pops. We Love the Welker Family from Central Florida
Yeah that was funny
Was my favorite part of the video🤣. Laughed out loud and thought, glad that’s not me!
It was funny
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and a positive message in these videos Leg Arms, you have a great and inspirational attitude that a lot of people could learn from. Two Thumbs Up!
No one would know y’all be brothers 🤪😅! Love y’all-keep blessings us with videos. Thanks
thanks for your hard work i am a 30 year butcher retiring here soon could not of done it without you guys!!
Regarding the portion where a hole needs to be drilled into the old main seal. Dip the drill bit in grease, then drill. Grease can capture some of the chips. Helps minimize chips going into the engine.
As for the big nut in the beginning of the episode, suspect a hydraulic wrench was used to achieve the desired torque setting. Something very few people are even aware of, let alone have access to.
During the course of working a part time job, had to remove several 6-1/2" nuts. Used either a 1-1/2" or 2" impact. Used a crane to lift the impact. Required two large bore air hoses and two men to operate. VERY powerful tool.
Leg arms has awesome mechanical skills!! I enjoy watching him work his magic on fixing things.
Awesome job LegArms building that socket Great video
I wish you well , keeping a forty year old tractor takes lots of talent. May you always be blessed.
The world could benefit from more people like you and your family. Love watching your content. Keep up the great work!
I removed seals by drilling holes in the seal and screwed sheet metal screws in the holes and prying on the screws to remove the seal , worked great. Love the videos
self taps work wonders and a prybar works great
Cummins makes a puller that centers using the crank bolts for the balancer. Then it uses self tappers and pulls it with a Jack screw
I drill a hole and used a concrete anchor welded to a slide hammer. Whack whack and it's out
Good work on the draw-bar removal indeed that one was stubborn and a fighter! Was an imPRESSive moment when you got the bearing out. And thanks for the encouraging/challenging words, that was really good and its great to have reminders.
Take care, all the best on the rest of that repair and God Bless!
Hey Scotty
You are the sweet / feeling Welker.... keep being your kind self... your warmth is endearing!
we all love you leg arms you are leaving a imprint on all of us with your wisdom!
iknow right he`s like a workshop magician, keeps the farm running smooth
I like these type of videos the most I enjoy them.
Scott’s work ethic is just unreal. Building his own tools, ripping things apart, and using raw manpower to get the job done is what we need in this world; especially on old equipment that was built to last many lifetimes!
I agree with and appreciate your discussion of making a positive influence. When you were in the middle of your discussion you walked into the brightest fluorescent light, I equated that to you having a halo, momentarily. No wonder the Welker machines continue to last a long time, you guys do a lot of good maintenance to them, 'a stitch in time, saves nine'.
You guys can fix anything!!👍💯 Really enjoy the longer vids! God Bless!🔥
Scott just a tip when drilling and worried about metal filings put grease on the bit. It holds the metal to the bit. Great video 👍
Same with taps.
It never holds it all though.
Scott, when you have to split the Big Bud swap the hydraulic hoses on the steering cylinders. you can use them to push the two halves of the tractor apart under control. The Big Tractor techs at our shop do this all the time to change out the Uni-Ball bearings on articulated tractors. Good luck with the project. really appreciated your "message" to society. less selfishness and more selflessness would do the world a lot of good. Seems i remember reading about a guy that walked the earth a few years back with that same message. May God continue to Bless your family and give you a prosperous 2020.
Great job Legarms. Loved your talk in the middle of the video. We need more Legarms talks. Keep up the great work and God bless.
I like watching these videos , reminds me of when I worked at Big Bud back in the late 70's. When I worked there, they were making 360's, 525's and 747's. 4 guys and 2 straps would install the draw bar. Yes, its heavy.
Talisman1957 that’s awesome. I’d love to hear more about the operation Big Bud had back in the day. You should make some videos.
Yeah, what VTwin said!
Can’t wait to see you split that bud! I know it will be literally tons of work but the old girl deserves it. Plus it’ll be video gold! Love your channel
You guys are so blessed to have that mechanical ability to get so into major repairs
To have that done would be $$$$$$ of dollar
That how we were raised hammer and wrench in hand on the farm Thank my dad for that
Great input on life Leg Arms
God bless
Hey Scott, sir legarms, I admire the loving exhortation about what kind of footprint we leave in our walk of life. Thanks for sharing your heart. I do so enjoy the love of God, for each other and others y’all share. It is genuinely appreciated.
The impact we leave on others should be kind hearted and loving.
Spliting the Big Bud is going to be a good work out on the body and mind.
God Bless.
Scruffy 61 we have a specially made splitting jack which is a bottle jack on wheels that runs in an angle iron track.obvs we just put jack under back of engine proceed and undo all things which need doing then gently tow front end forward etc then when it's time to put back together it's in exactly right place and height etc!!!
@@iantowers6972 that sounds like a good set up you use.
Well said Scruffy 👍
lots of serious hard work in that one Scott.
God Bless guys with tenacity and resourcefulness like you.
A day in the life of Legarms. What a way to spend a Saturday morning watching Scott work in the shop. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Great work on the Big Bud . If the repair is done right this Bud will last till 2065 .Take care .
Thank you Scott for mentioning a path, (how do others perceive us), that I have thought of often. I know I have not done enough but am trying. I have a habit of losing my temper when frustrated and out comes the🤬. Mother said it was because my vocabulary wasn’t good enough so That I could say something else and fortunately I married a woman that says the same thing. That is a part of my life I have projected that I’m not proud of but have worked all of my life to control it. I am seeing so many on the social media platforms that I wish I had not seen and especially our younger generation. I am very proud of you and Nick and the persona you put forth on your videos. Keep up the good work.
I love how you ask what are we living behind. With out God not much. I love seeing you guys work. I lived in Missouri and now i am a missionary overseas. I lived on a farm and was a truck driver. So seeing you all makes me less home sick. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing the big bud with the world. Its really awesome to see and watch. Your craftsmanship is inspiring. Love the content and all the tractors.
"I need a longer bar." - Every mechanic ever at some point
Great fun when you have a new truck and dont realise that it unlike the other one has left hand wheel nuts😂😂 swear the old man and i had 2 8ft bars trying to undo it haha. How we didnt break a stud i didnt know
Dang dude i work on a farm and am a mech but i Just grap a long bar from the iron shelve and use it as a breaker bar
If one bearing is in bad shape usually the others will too I'd split it put all new
And leg arms,,,,, a wise nugget of gospel brother keep them coming
These guys are MUCH bigger farmers than us but it's awesome to see men my age still living the fix it yourself, use what you have, make what you can, lifestyle and they seem to have a good attitude!
God bless you farmers. Love watching your repairs.
The part where he was spinning around while hitting the nut made me laugh so hard I still can’t breath :)
Good save Leg Arms on the save when describing the bearing at the end of the video 😂
Big thanks Legarms
Leg Arms , You are A Beast !!! Keep sharing...we love the way you tackle anything that comes your way!!
We went from firing Leg Arms to "HEY NICK!"
Interesting stuff. In the event you cannot get a new bearing you could always ask This Old Tony or AvE to make you one!
You should replace the harmonic balancer as well the seal will last longer
I was just about to say he should hit up AvE lol great minds!!
@@taurus4205 I have another in mind too and he may be the best choice and that guy is ABOM79!
Yup....AVE. would love that challenge!
DingleZilla I found abomb thru AvE
I love your never give up attitude Scott. Adapt improvise and overcome! Good work. Cheers, Mark.
I sure wish I had your mechanical sense. So much confidence and "can do" attitude. It's great to watch.
WOW lots of work big farm tractor love watch and learning :)
Thanks!!
There's a big bud going up for auction in upper Sandusky ohio add it to the stable for when Nick's kids get older it could use a restoration though
I sent them the link in their website email. I hope they see it in time. That 525 /50 needs a good home...
I think that nothing works in the workshop without Daddy Welker 👍😋😋😋
As long as I don't break things faster then they fix them 😁
No offense to Nick lol but I'm really enjoying the leg arms vids. Fixing/repairing farm equipment is mostly what I do, love learning about new tricks like that speedy sleeve I've never heard of it before. Thanks for the inspirational talk too, appreciate you guys sharing your faith. God bless.
I'm working an and old International Harvester Scout II from 1979 so I kinda feel like we're working on the same project. Just one is on a much, much bigger scale.
You guessed it, it's the Scout 2. ;)
Scott is getting good at talking to the camera, how awkward it must be to talk to a camera alone all day.
Dedicated.
Making your on socket rather clever indeed ! Northern Montana Engineering . Scott (LA ) gets it done !
Leg-Arm I have worked in service shops all my life and the last 17 years was for Ford dealers as a service tech. Lots and lots of big Equipment things as you went through. maybe I am just venting but so glad I am now setting home watching you and family. Thanks
First time here, popped over from Beaver VineYards , Great vlog, So i Smashed the like button and joined the crew. 👀🎈
Welcome 👍! Glad to have you
seeing you trying to get that nut off reminded me of MN Millenial trying to get that oil filter off of his sprayer. also i am not a farmer, but i would split the tractor and replace the second bearing. because if you dont do it now, it will break and then you have to dissasemble the hinge again. and also you wont have to lie sleepless at night fearing when the bearing will break. personaly i think it will save you more problems in the future if you fix it now
I'd also add to this by saying get more than one bearing since you have another Big Bud that might also need attention in the future.(I'm not a farmer either)
@@Hamnut123 different series and different size buds though, so no guarantee that all 3 use the same size bearings....
lol does it ready hurt lol
yes and no, if either of the others uses the same size, then that's great, but if only the 600 uses that size, it could sit on a shelf collecting dust for 40 years....and depending on the price for the bearing....well, think that part of it explains itself if only the 600 uses that size....
I’m glad, I’m not alone, in having those sort of days! God bless you guys too.
LegArms you are always doing something interesting and explain / shoot what you are doing so well, great job and addition to the channel.
Replaced the center pins and bushings on the Steiger, the bushing ball assembly was is welded into the drawbar at the factory, torched out and welded in the new one, then had to split the tractor to change the other two pivot assemblies. Got the parts from Big Tractor Parts in MN. Be careful!!!
That’s a great idea for an oil tray.
Yes, back in the day, we would just put the drain barrel in the back of the pickup, and dump it on the dirt road going by the farm. To keep the dust down.
Now that’s nut was on there man thanks for another great video
Coming soon, The Legarms Philosophy Channel..
Seriously though. I really appreciate a few minutes of Scott expounding on life once in a while. Because as someone who has also spent thousands of hours working ground, you have a LOT of time to think on stuff.
The kind of person you would loan your good truck to. ( and that's a short list of people.. :) )
Need a tool? Make a tool! Gotta get an Alec Steele collab now that he's in Montana!
Someday! I don't know if they would be interested in a tiny channel like ours ☺
would be a great collab
this would be amazing I hope it can happen
It would be a 60 part series for a mediocre outcome.
Just tell them you have lots of hot guy friends, they'll jump on ya
I want to see them split the tractor and replace that pin !
It'll be a thrill video to watch.
been there done that. not much fun, but not real complicated. heat, beat and repeat.
LegArms is a very good operator and mechanic! I have worked with guys like him and it was almost always a pleasure.
Ps. Also a philosopher... but dont quit your day job, man. Haha.
Scott, Nick.. You guys are truly men among men.. it’s clear that your upbringing was second to none. You guys are an inspiration to watch and we’re all so lucky to be allowed just a small view into your lives. Your kids and wives are truly lucky to have such great fathers and husbands to lead them such as you did growing up. It’s evident your parents were amazing parents and have raised good godly men to in turn do the same for their families. God bless and keep up the great content!
great work leg arm and very goog words of wisdom take care god bless welkers
Thank YOU!
Instead of worrying about a left vs right socket should have used a big metric crescent wrench.
Hear ya... Sometimes the North Dakotan socket set comes in handy!!! Lol.
@Kirk Gibbs, an old timer gave me a rare left handed metric crescent wrench for a job well done during my Apprenticeship. One of my most cherished tools.
Our old mechanic called his old 4ft adjustable a Tchaikovsky Spanner when I was 11 took me a few years to realise why and why it got the two kind of looks it did.
@@SlipShodBob, HAAAA!!!! TOOO FUNNY.😂🤣😂🤣
Seal driver is what I think you were talking about. You also need a big Ford wrench.
That tractor has a better paint finish then my truck! I love you guys!
Great video. Really enjoyed watching the repairs.
Woahhhh, quick draw mcgraw.
Legarms the motivational speaker... I'd pay to listen to you speak
Would make a great teacher.
I like Leg Arms’ philosophical side.
That was very deep thoughts...Thank You
I tried it Scott"Nick, clean the shop"...It works for you alot better for you.....I'm still waiting for Nick to clean my shop....Great Video....
New title
“ How far Leg Arms will go to Bust A Nut”
Underrated comment
@@Jumper708 First thing I thought of was, I thought the only place I could see a guy bust a huge nut was pornhub...lol
It’s funny but
No
It’s called a Seal Driver. You could of dimpled the speedy sleeve with a ball peen hammer and hit the sleeve a few times around it. That will expand it a bit and it should come off.
It's always fun watching you do what you do. I see others have commented as well about spinning that huge nut off. Very comical and it reminded me of a gag the Three Stooges did on one of their shorts some 60? years ago. You inspire a lot of us to think outside the box. Thank you Leg Arms!
Glad you're on here I like watching y'all reminds me of all the stuff I used to do I have five big stack of dirt tractors pain in the butt
Amen brother
Nick clean up the shop!!!! Lol
That should be a meme
I'll inspect with white glove, if any dirt, a no no. 🤣
I could watch LegArms all day.
Ooooh man, what work this piece gave!!!
18:12 hey nick clean up the shop!
18:35 NICK CLEAN UP THE SHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!
20:32(X2)hey nick clean up the shop!!!!!!!
25:06 Nick clean the shop!! Seriously he is not clean the shop Yet it’s ridiculous
It was cracking me up!!!! 🤣🤣
Frank Rester me to
Hi walker farms if you see this
You forgot the one @20:31
XxTheEpicDragonCatxX YT oh I’ll put it on thare
All that work... Still, would rather have to do it on a Big Bud than a Versatile (versapile), or a john deere, ANYDAY!!!!!!
MAN, i love Leg Arms, i love to watch him in the workshop, and how he solves problems, and the bit at 10:03 LOOOL, round and round you go Leg Arms hahaha, i really want to see more of him in the workshop, it's pleasing to see how you maintain all your equipment.
Great idea on the oil change tub. We're always changing oil in something and have lots of those cages around. Making one this week.
From tractor stuff to a ted talk then back to tractor stuff haha 👍🏼
Haha so true!
Ted talk is more preachy and less substance
It was waking up a bear out of hibernation starting that 600!!!
It was cool. Just cool
I hope you guys get this fixed before spring planting. I get the feeling that this is going to be a major project for you guys.
Determination and perseverance always wins. Now if you can ever get Nick to clean the shop. Niiiick clean up the shop!!!!!!
Northern Manufacturing, Havre MT. Ron Harmon and the boys, built tractors that just go forever!!!!
It's true!
Put some grease on the drill bit , then you get the metal shavings in the engine.
Great video! Its 2020 and Nick needs a nickname, personally I think it's only appropriate we call him " Leg Legs" . Thanks for the video and have a great day!
Thanks for your inspiring message Scott.
