    Thank you for this vid. I would have changed the white pickup covers for aged ones. Would match better with the tone and volume knobs and the pickgard!

    Thank you Sir. I needed this to change the pick guard on my EC Blackie Strat to save the original with original stickers in case I ever sell it. Nicely done and perfectly done with the 10-46 set of strings. These are ideal for any Strat and they are also the preferred strings by Eric Clapton and come as standard on all of his signature Stratocasters. Thanks for sharing!

    Gold work! But I always polish the frets too for a shiny look and more playability doing bendings for example. Nearby i use locking tuners. All my guitars have them. Easyer to change strings. And i locked the tremolo, 'cause i'm not a trem-guy😊 I'll change the white pickguard on my black Strat to a black one soon. If there'll be issues by working, I'll ask you for help😉Stay healthy!

      @@0000song0000 try a different size screwdriver ...it may be it just needs a better grip. If it's stripped there are tools you can use to grab it and get out.

    Hi so i have done this to my strat several times to change pickguards successfully. But the neck pickup keeps coming loose and its hitting the strings. Like there is no tension from the rubber feet from the inside and its only that pickup. Im getting tired if having to do it all again just to adjust it when its gona fall again
    Do u have any suggestions on what could be happening?

    Hi mate, I'm looking to change my pickguard in the coming weeks (when it arrives haha) hence why I stumbled upon your video. What's the purpose of the oil you used on the fretboard, and why don't people typically like the oil you used? Cheers

    • @theguitarmanifesto
      @theguitarmanifesto  Před rokem +1

      To stop the wood on the fingerboard drying out, each to their own I guess with the oil. I've been using lemon oil for many years always been great stuff

    I ordered a fender kit off Amazon that included the aged knobs pick up covers and tips for the switches as well as a back plate for 27 bucks Canadian. That’s probably only about 20 bucks US … deal I thought.

    Hey just finished watching this video and very informative. I do have two questions.
    1)- Does pickup height really matter? I'm concerned about somehow messing up the height of the pickups when I change the pickguard
    2)- The foil on the back, on my new pickguard, it is covering some of the holes for the switch and screws. Is it fine to just pierce through it?
    Thank you again for making this video, I'll be following this to change mine out!

    • @theguitarmanifesto
      @theguitarmanifesto  Před rokem

      Yes pickup heights is very important for tone and sound levels also too close and the magnets can pull the strings.
      Yeah just pierce them they'll be fine

  • @RADone65

    I haven't taken mine apart yet. Didn't notice if all three knobs are connected, so as to not "upset" their rotary position (where one is compared to ten). Also, would non-marring plastic auto tools be a good choice for some of this prying off of the knobs work well? Also, mine is HSS, so any other recommendations?

  • @johnakridge3846
    @johnakridge3846 Před 4 lety +1

    Well done sir! Very thorough. Do you know the tone knob color? It seems a bit darker than aged white. I have just purchased an american professional with Sienna burst and it comes with similar tone knobs but a bright white pickguard. I want to exchange the pickguard to match the tone knobs but seem to be having a problem finding the pickguard to match the tone knobs. Fender wont sell them individually. I believe the elite Strat comes with matching tone knobs and pickguard in aged white but the American professional comes with aged white tone knobs and bright white pickguard. Would you by chance have any insight?

    • @theguitarmanifesto
      @theguitarmanifesto  Před 4 lety

      They were aged white knobs that had aged a bit more making them look a little darker, try looking at Vanson pickguards they're always a good fit plenty of colours available

    I've just removed pickguard on my Squier Strat (hoping to get it signed by Albert Lee later this week) Under the pickups are floating springs which may be difficult to line up when reassembling. Are these critical?

    I suggest changing all single plys to tje ..real three ply, still wonder why some strats still arrive with a singly ply. I have a singly ply on a squiet which really looks cheap and am goinh to get a three ply after seeinh this

    • @theguitarmanifesto
      @theguitarmanifesto  Před měsícem

      History lesson for you, the original 1954 Fender Stratocasters came with a 1 ply pickguard, it wasn't until 1959 Fender used a 'multi ply' pickguard.
      So your opinion of it looking 'cheap' is purely in your own head, a 1954 Stratocaster certainly isn't so.
      You're welcome 😁
