As someone who grew up with the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson and then Janet Jackson...THEY ALL DID THE DAMN THING...EACH ERA WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD...I can remember when I would hear the Jacksons at every barbeque and me and my little brothers would try and perform like them...Then some years later when Michael came out with his solo Album....Off The Wall...I was growing up and the barbeques would be replaced with "house parties" and sneaking down in the basement to listen to Eddie Murphy albums. Then Thriller came out, and the Cosby Show, and Vanessa Williams was Miss America...damn she was fine...Janet was on Fame, I got my first Jerry Curl and Bowtie like Michael and I was learning to dance like Michael...lol. Then, I remember Michael started to get a little corny and weird for me, So I switched over to Prince, the Time, and Morris Day, and that's when Janet bust out on the scene with her ...Cool movies and sexy voice. I couldn't believe the transformation! I used just like Janet for how she looked, I had a huge crush on her and Lisa Bonet. However when she started making music with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis...I was like damn this girl is talented too!...Hit after Hit!...I was a Janet Fan and Michael was cool and all and I'd revisit his albums every now and then...but I completely transitioned to a Janet fan!...Her music was more grown up and easier to dance to in the clubs. Well,, I’ll say it was “kinda” jealousy when Michael died, and they made the monument to put at 2300 JACKSON STREET, and her and Randy came by themselves to visit the home. And the very same day they had the monument removed! Now it is still laying upside down behind the house.

I have listened to Michael and Janet enough to say that their artistic approach and musical style couldn't be more different beyond the surface. Like, seriously, there was no real comparison between them, but the fact that Janet was the youngest of the Jackson family pretty much ended up dooming her to forever be compared to her brother and be treated as she was under his shadow despite a lot of her own accomplishments. You can tell how tired she is about always having to speak for her entire family by looking at her face. But thankfully, we all know that being a Jackson was pretty much the least of what really made her so special and successful and is now considered as undeniably one of the all time greats.

Many of her contemporaries in the business have all stated Janet Jackson as being a huge benefactor for their careers and have praised her many times. Brandy, (also known as the Vocal Bible to many in the music industry) has broken down the uniqueness of Janet's voice, the harmonies she is able to produce are some of the best out there. Might I also add, Janet is not a singer, she's not a Mariah Carey or a Whitney Houston, she's a dancer/performer, that is what people come to see her do. There's nothing better for an artist than to be able to create an artform entirely on their own than to follow another artist's path just so they can ensure success. That's what I admire about Janet. She is driven and competitive but she was very much her own artist. Unafraid to push the boundaries of her sexuality as well as exploring different sounds and genres with each of her albums.
Michael will go down in history with the likes of The Beatles, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, etc. He was an UNMATCHED , PRODIGIOUS talent, an innovator and pioneer who changed the entertainment game. The people here were indifferent to western culture/music, but somehow everybody knew one name "Michael Jackson". When MJ died he received tributes from the entire Bollywood industry, which is very rare for them to do, to someone outside the industry. He's often considered here to be the greatest dancer of all time & his moves have been ripped off wholesale by Bollywood acts ever since. I’ve followed Janet since the 80s and not once did I think she wasn’t an artist in her own right
I have listened to Michael and Janet enough to say that their artistic approach and musical style couldn't be more different beyond the surface.
Like, seriously, there was no real comparison between them, but the fact that Janet was the youngest of the Jackson family pretty much ended up dooming her to forever be compared to her brother and be treated as she was under his shadow despite a lot of her own accomplishments.
You can tell how tired she is about always having to speak for her entire family by looking at her face. But thankfully, we all know that being a Jackson was pretty much the least of what really made her so special and successful and is now considered as undeniably one of the all time greats.

There's nothing better for an artist than to be able to create an artform entirely on their own than to follow another artist's path just so they can ensure success. That's what I admire about Janet. NO she was never jealous of him , envy and jealousy are two very different emotions . Do not put words in her mouth .
You can admire someone and wish the same would happen for your self with out the undercurrent of wishing someone bad .
She envied her brother , looked up to him , admired him and was and IS extremely proud of him and his achievements.
Besides it is ALWAYS harder for any woman to be recognized for her ability and achievements in this world.
I have a lot of respect for her as an artist
