- There is a reason, why Beyond Good and Evil is revered. It’s not perfect, and it doesn’t do anything overly well, but as a whole package, it blends all of the elements together better than most. Maybe this is an attempt by Ubisoft to do a temperature check for the market of Beyond Good and Evil 2, but whatever the reason, it’s the best way to play it today and definitely worthy of your time.
- Hry
Did you play the original in 2003?
Yes, it was the first game my parents bought for me, and the first game i ever finished. I loved it at the time, i love the new version and i have been waiting for the sequel since 2003 😅 i guess we'll never see the answer to that twist ending cutscene in BGE, as BGE2 is set before the events of the first game
That post credit ending is still something that most games don't do. I wouldn't say we wont get the answer, because there is a new and exclusive mission in the 20th Anniversary Edition that links the two games narratively. I didn't find it because we got review code fairly late and wanted to have it ready for embargo. This meant exploration was at a minimum, but it has something to do with "Hunt"?
Side Note: I think this Anniversary Edition is something of a temperature check for interest in the series that might help determine whether the sequel should continue development.
Yes, first the demo and the demo already made it my favourite game of all time. I had it on a disk and had to buy the game, probably the first game I ever bought. I’m the biggest fan. Love this game so much, I wish there was a move based on it.
@@VDGMSI think it’s somewhat that. But I also think that 2 is nearly ready. If you watch the last gameplay trailer for 2, what looked pretty pie is the sky back then, looks more than possible now. Having this out means people might get on board with it, and once 2 is announced properly for release people may go back and play this.
Yes I played the 2003 PC and Gamecube Version, really a brilliant game, now I finished the PS4 and Sonne the PS5 version
This anniversary edition was my first time playing it. Despite some minor complaints, I had a great time with it and the extra content they added is a heartwarming reminder that they're committed to the next game.
Can’t go wrong with 20 bucks for a remaster to play it on modern consoles
Best game ever
But maybe thats the nostalgia talking
Had the happiest time replaying this in my 30s it's just lovely
It is still super duper mega great👍
And I love it still🙂
The lore for this universe is some of my favorite Sci-Fi ever.
Tbh at this point BG&E2 is gonna be disappointing. I’ve loved this game for so long. To me it is perfect.
I tried the HD version as part of my Games with Gold (remember that?!?!) subscription and wasn't feeling it. For some reason, I'm super hyped to try out this new anniversary edition.
I played it for the first time and I can see why it has the following it has. Looking forward to BG&E2!!
This was a very fun game. I miss when games were like this..
I've never played this but I've been waiting for part 2 for like 8 years
They released like two trailers and everything
Playing it for the first time in 2024. Man this game is good. It holds up and I always heard people say it’s the closest we’ve ever got to another developer successfully making a Zelda game, and yeah that rings true. This game has legitimate “dungeon areas” with really creative Zelda-esque puzzles. I’ll even say the puzzles in this game have better context in the world too. Combat and vehicles control a little clunky… and I imagine it felt that way in 2004 seeing as how games like Devil May Cry already existed, but those are extremely minor gripes. I also think this is the first game to have protagonists engage in “Naughty Dog style” conversation with each other during gameplay.
It did a lot right 20 years ago. Here’s hoping the sequel is closer than farther.
This is my favorite game.
This game should’ve been remade ages ago. It deserves a remake.
Okay, so how do we let Ubisoft know that this anniversary edition of the original is really good and pleasing to the fans of the original WITHOUT them thinking releasing a sequel would be a good idea?
This is a way to touch a younger generation and it's a chance to long date fans to play it again on PC and other plateforms. If you see it as a propaganda who's the objective is to steal money, it's your point of view, I'm not gonna be against it.
Only question for Ubi... when you do the same for Rayman 1,2,3 hehe
I know this franchise is one of the best...
But bro, that's too much spoiling. Just play Beyond good and evil (if you love this franchise of course) and next we will talk about it 😂
Mature? Propaganda 🎶 just a hint. Though it is $3 outside of this. I wouldn't double dip but it is fun. Some pokemon snap elements too.
The lack of combat was intentionnal. The game was made to make something new and relaxing than doing a "war destroy" game that we see too much those days.
So yes, the battle sequences are a littl z it boring, but the rest makes the game better.
