They always say this kind of shit as a new cauldron forms and Ukraine sends more and more men to die in it before ultimately losing the battle. Then Russia spams artillery on Ukrops as they retreat. Literally every major battle so far. Ukraine has won nothing, they only forced a tactical regrouping in 2022 and have just been getting stomped since then.

That is quite a claim that the Russian offensive is losing gas when as of yet, even the Ukrainians confirm that only half a dozen battalions, out of a force of 50 thousand, have been committed into combat.
Troop movement depends on mobility.
It's Spring & the dew points are right near ambient temperature, meaning things are soggy. Weather for the last week in Kharkiv has been light showers & partly cloudy, & it's going to be largely the same this week.
Also, did you not hear the part where the Russians are not using much heavy mech yet? They're relying on dismounted infantry & drones.
@@CoffeeAndPaul Because the Russians are still technically in the "reconnaissance in force" phase, where dismounted infantry is needed to determine the route of advance for mechanized troops, like say, determining minefields(or absence thereof).
This is not, based on previous instances, the Russians actually committing into an offensive yet.

It's not about losing momentum. Ukrainian reinforcements have arrived, and Russia has reached truly critical points. 1, Vovchansk is an important city. 2, Liptsy is a major obstacle before Kharkiv. Therefore, the advance is naturally going to slow down. It's not at all about losing momentum. This clown doesn't understand war at all. Vovchansk is even more bigger than Krasnohorivka. Russia has been fighting in Krasnohorivka for over a month and is expected to continue for another 10-20 days. Meanwhile, they have already gained 30% control of Vovchansk and might need another week to secure it. In reality, this is much faster than Krasnohorivka. The defensive strength and troop density of Ukraine in Kharkiv are not as strong as in Donbas.

if you want to pronounce Ukranian city names, put them in a translation app, they have native speaking pronunciation button.

The school system experimented with teaching English a different way when Gen X were in grade school, as a result they all swap letters accidentally when they try to read certain words. They cannot possibly identify and memorize all the nouns that they mispronounce and recite them from memory instead of reading them, so they will always misread the word and then pronounce it wrong again unless they use that word a lot.

I'm sorry, but Combat Vet is rewriting history here. Ukraine did not wait until conditions were "perfect" to launch an offensive, they waited until they had the bare minimum, way less than was promised to them, to conduct an offensive. Just the same old story of Jake Sullivan and company bleeding Ukraine out every time they have an opportunity to punish the Russians.
This is not the full story. Some advice and approaches were not acted upon by Ukraine. But this argument is non productive

My understanding is that the fortifications are further south. There were trenches but not manpower and backup artillery have to be moved in.
It is more that the extreme casualties from the Russian side is taking their toll on the momentum. The soldiers are not reaching their objectives.
You don't build fortifications within artillery range of the border if you have any sense.

I repeat once again that in Ukraine they speak Russian and Ukrainian equally often. You can hear this yourself when you watch the video directly when the Ukrainian military is filming, if you can distinguish Russian from Ukrainian by ear or a mixture of Russian and Ukrainian “surzhik” (it is also spoken in the southern regions of Russia). Bakhmut and Artyomovsk are more political things.

You must have a elastic defense - Withdraw while inflicting enemy casualties to preserve your own personel. When the attack loses momentum you either dig in or you counterattack. Everyone that ever held a position in a modern army knows this. It is like the fact that you never place your defending troops right on the enemy LZ unless you have really good bunkers for them...
As a retired Army 24yrs senior NCO. This guy is devoid of our Army core values, one of which is integrity His (Sitrep) is a misrepresentation of battlefield reality. I will definately not want him in my TOC or part of my battle staff. Things like this will lead to needless casualities.

There is nothing to probe. Ukraine decided a long time ago NOT to fight for every last inch of ground tooth and nail in this area - instead, they knew for a fact that the geography in the region favors defense. Let the Russians advance as they will. They have NO rail lines in the region to supply themselves. They have NO cover from long range missile strikes. They have NO means of mounting attacks in depth, due to the difficult terrain.
The Aserican government already assumes that this offensive will lead Ukraine to peace talks and surrender, but not this clown. who was wrong in literally every one of his predictions...

I think Ukraine is performing Active Defence where the enemy is drawn out and destroyed when they have nowhere to hide.
That is the main strategy of South Koreans. My unit was to withdraw 30kms so that the mechanized division would prepare and destroy the exhausted and extended enemy when they are vulnerable.

The Russian military can only operate with so much good will, but ultimately people will want to be paid and the Russian economy is not looking so healthy as you may wish following the impact of sanctions.
Now I know you will say this is just western propaganda so I ask you to look at the financial sheets being released by the Russian Ministry of Finance.
It will show how the Russian economy is doing really well, but you need to look not just at the numbers, but what the numbers mean.
Russia is working under a war time economy and all the money being spent on the special military operation, is money not being invested in Russia.

How can you say its over when just a few days passed and Russia havent even committed their reserves. It also draws Ukranian reserves, making it easier to take territory in other areas. Russia also control's he high ground, making it incredible hard for Ukraine to retake the area, fixing Ukranians troops.

So, you imply that this offensive will force the UKR to throw any available reserves to try and stop it. That will greatly weaken the other parts of the front since the Ukraine doesn't have their own "German empire" to send its troops to help.

By the new updates the North part of Vovchansk is not contested are but is a RU area, and they manged to take the first houses in the northen part of the city :/, they have a lot of momentum becouse if you misure the distance the made in 3 or 4 days is about 8km inside the ukranian teritory. Non sono dalla parte dei Russi pero' bissogna essere realisti , la situazione non e' per niente buona. I russi avanzano anno sempre piu soldati e armi mentre l'ucraina fatica a ricevere armi dall'occidente e la gente scappa al estero e non vuole piu combattere.

First, I am relieved that US aid to Ukraine passed. What I don't understand, Why couldn't EU pay US for weapons and Artillary shells in the meantime? Was this a pressure campaign that did not work well? We know Europe has mooched off the US for Millitary supplies for decades but they do have money and could have paid for enough supplies to keep lines stable.

There are, further back though. Tougher to put defensive lines when you are getting shelled and not allowed to shoot over the border with your ammo.
Because the Ukrainians did not build any. They want to go with the excuse that their defensive lines are way back, which is true, but the fact that they did not have outposts, screening forces, or even minefields before said defense line shows either incompetence or corruption.
For comparison, it took the Ukrainians 4 months to get passed through the grey zone to reach the first main trenches of the Suruvikin line in their Summer Offensive. It took the Russians less than a week to do the same.
