What are the advantages/disadvantages of this clutch over the factory one?

The stock clutch is electronically controlled and tends to fail because of the electronics. One way to fix the issue, is to not have the fan clutch electronically controlled. This kit converts to a mechanical style fan clutch. No electronics, no failures.

@@DieselPowerProducts so one gripe I have with the electronic clutch is it does not seem to have any type of ramp up like a viscous clutch. This is an issue driving in stop and go traffic with the AC on because of the added hp loss of a fully engaged clutch fan. I am wondering if this clutch modification along with a couple small pusher fans on the condenser like mentioned in the video would be the answer.
Does the viscous clutch move as much air in full lock up as the factory electronic one?

Sure, you can add a small electric fan for the stop and go situations. Just make sure to have a switch, to turn it off while driving, as it would hinder the stock fan from pulling air through the cooling package. It should at that point just free spin. Yes, the mechanical clutch moves the same amount of air when it is locked up.

is not a good option. I used it for a year, I had a problem with the a/c. Better go back to oem.
