  • This system was planted in February 2021, this video was recorded the 28 June 2023. It is a 30 months old system. This year till the end of June we were collect approximately 60 kg of fruits, and still there are other unripe 30-40 kg of fruits like pear, apple, peach, plums, figs, pomegranate, grapes. In this 2 years and half i never watered the trees, we have approximately 650 mm of rain per Year. This is not a Mediterranean climate but is most a temperate hot climate with some rain coming also in summer from 20 to 50 mm each month of summer. But depending of the seasons some summer can be very dry without rain. In Junuary we have an avarage temperature from -1 to 7 Celsius in July-Agoust we have an avarage temperature from 20 to 31 Celsius. We have 15 to 30 days where temperature can reach 32 till 35-36 celsius.

Have you considered including some sacrificial trees and shrubs that are nitrogen fixers? The alnus cordata looks interesting to me as an overstory tree and shrubs of the genus elaeagnus for understory.

It's a very good idea to get some nitrogen fixers into the system.

Hello! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and your knowledge. I'm trying to reforest a hectare in central Spain (much drought, as you'd imagine) and you don't know how much I've learnt from your videos, how much they've inspired me. So keep on doing what you do because it is really helpful to people all around the world.

And also, please, please, please, upload more videos in English. hahaha I'm Spanish, so I try to understand when you speak in Italian, but I miss some information. A video in English every now and then would be super helpful. Much love from Madrid!

Thanks for the video! I have planted a lot of asimina trilobum as a shade tolerant fruit which can also grow along side juglans with the hope of juglans overstory and second
Layer of pawpaw and hazelnut, then ribes as the fruiting components. I wonder how pawpaw would do for you there

Is there a list somewhere of all the species you have planted. Would love to know what pioneer species you have interplanted between your fruit trees. Do you also have the paulownia growing there?

Very nice system! Do you water the garden somehow? The fruit tree, you plan to trim them? Thanks!

I got the answer in the video regarding watering. But pruning, I usually see a shorter branch cut in other orchards.
