He was definitely the hardest boss for me. Took me 4 hours of dying non-stop before I finally beat him. You can do it with 20 morale and a +9 weapon, it just takes a minute. Learning his pattern is the only thing that made it even remotely possible for me. That being said, if you’ve beaten every other boss up to him, then you definitely have the skill and patience to beat him.

Whats crazy is that the base game was criticized for being too easy after the balance updates. Team Ninja just took that into stride and made the DLC insanely difficult
Its not the DLC in general. Its still super easy up to Yuan Shu and after Yuan Shu. Only Yuan Shu is hard, rest is the same as always. Just steamrolling everything.
Problem is they put Nioh-like bosses into these DLCs for the lame combat mechanics of WoLong,its more notable if you also go fight Mezuki from the special battlefield because its build the same way as the DLC bosses,this games combat just doesnt works at all
After dying 30-40 times in phase 1 itself , i finally found a spell that can really cheese the boss by making it go blind .. use the chill spell phantom icicle through out the battle , stay always close to him keep doing your meele attacks in both the phases and u can beat the boss alone , remember to stay close , keep using phantom icicle every 5-7 seconds.. also make sure your morale is atleas locked to 20 , get all the flags, cant belive i wasted nearly 28 tiger seals. Cheers 🍻
Just beat this boss and man, that was skyscraper kinda jump from any other boss in the game. No doubt the hardest boss team ninja has put out. But I gotta say it was very rewarding to learn his patterns and study his movesets. You definitely have to know your parries for this fight and DO NOT even attempt to go into this fight without at least the 20 fortitude you get from collecting all the flags. I will admit however that some of the elemental attacks were straight bs and all I could see was seizure inducing particle effects on the screen that I'm somehow supposed to deflect. It definitely pays to keep your distance in this fight and pull off the deflects on his ranged attacks and bait his grab when he floats over to you. Overall a super enjoying boss that redeemed this game for me overall. Well done!
Finally got around to playing the second and third DLCs, and this boss is the first real roadblock for me in a while. I figured I played too aggressively, so looks like I gotta get to improving my parrying.
I had absolutely no hard time with all the famed hard bosses from From Software (killing them in first try - fourth try max), Nioh 1 and 2 DLC were challenging but manageable, and I simply can't beat this guy. It's just too much stuff happening to parry, if I fail once or twice I'm dead, and it's A LOT of stuff to fail. Gave up after 3 hours without getting him lower than 75% on second phase. Btw Taishi Ci gave me a bit of trouble, around 40 minutes, and I did beat Dian Wei second try.
They went too over the top imo too much difficulty with little payoff. Atleast nioh had cool abilities that you could look forward to unlocking. Wo long you only get a basic looking sword at best. To find new abilities you have to play on ng+ which by then there is no point in playing through the same game you already finished again. I don’t understand why they would do that

The screen is filled with those fcking lightnings, arrows and fire, I just can't see when he attacks! The first phase is ok, but the second is impossible, I'm giving up. Absolute hell

Seems to be quite a bit of inconsistancy with this boss. Lot of people are either struggling terribly, or having no issues - some even getting an insta kill glitch. So strangr. But if i can do it, you can too!
Absolute trash boss but par for the course for Team Ninja and their idiotic boss fights in all 3 DLC. Since we are out of ideas, let's just have bosses that spam elemental after elemental, run up to you for a red attack that takes off all all your health if you get hit, then run away and repeat the pattern over and over.
@@martk647 I tried again and maybe they nerfed first stage as it's really easy. Should have nerfed stage 2. Beat the boss finally with the strategy of staying close. I think there's more elemental BS if you stay far. Still needed all 10 health pots, lol. So glad I'm done w this game.

How many tries did it take for you to beat this? Me and my bros won because of a glitch, causing his 2nd phase to just be skipped entirely. Not sure why it happens but I can tell you that victory felt... unsavory lol.
this was my second try - i always start off aggressive on my first go - sometimes i can get away with it but this time i got taken out REAL quick. i played defensively and this was the result. haha, a win is a win though? can always try again on harder if you lol.

IIRC, i died the first time i fought him at 20. so i went around the level again killing things til my morale went to 25. made it easier as you can see.
He's made every other boss look like pussies, the hardest of which I defeated with dual halberds where I really started using spirit attacks while in Qonqueror of Jiangdong. The rest I've bested with the Jianchu longsword using normal strikes and deflects.
Hard man very hard...i would say this guy took title of the most annoying dlc boss from demonized taishi ci...you must always be ready to parry block etc..either melee or aoe stuff this guy will be like always at the range to hit you and whats worse imagine running out of healing items and find out he has second phase its hes even more agressive if youre not good at parrying than youre gonna have bad day with him...and all of that on basic difficulty...at least i had a decent damage on him i guess but if this such nightmare on the easiest mode how stronger he gets on the hardest difficulty dragon king (this come up with this dlc) oh and there one more thing on this mission there are crystals if you dont break them all he will be buffed...oh well hehe he was a real nightmare but to be fair i was playing a lot of nioh 2 so i kinda forget how to play wo long but still if not the parry mechanic this would be even greater hell...luckily hes as enemy appears only on this mission he doesnt appear on the sub quests but for sure he is added to TMJ.
You definitely have to play more defensively with this boss. I tried my usual aggressive tactic the first round and got murked quickly. Timing also takes a bit to get used to. But this was my second try. I personally found Dian Wei from DLC 1 and Taishi Ci from DLC 2 harder.
This fight is horrendous when u co-op 3 players online. Not to mention, the fight is optimized very poorly on the ps5 version. Missing visual causing you to take dmg that wasnt even there, unusually large hit boxes, and some other things 😅. Visual works fine on the ps4 ver. Also, the game tends to freeze during cutscene on the ps5 ver. So if that does happen, pray you dont have to go through the entire level again...
Another trash fire spammer no openings boss, i hope there is never another wo long game, team ninja is trash with parry systems in games, and even more trash with boss designs, lets hope the ronin game is not another miss. atleast niohs combat was deep and you could be agressive and attack in sekiro, this is just pure trash, asmon was right.
The beginning of the game felt tame and fair with the parrying but later on with DLC we started getting these anime ass boss fights that make relying on parry hard to do. you'll give yourself an aneyurism trying to match countless attack timings from a single boss. Reacting to the red flash on critical blows arent accurate on every attack and its aggravating. I've 100% Sekiro and didnt have a problem like I do with this game's inconsistency...
The kind of boss that you would need morale 25 to even stand a chance. And back to farming morale again when you die.

Done it with 20 morale and lvl 140. It took a while but he goes down eventually. Phase 2 was actually easier than phase 1 for me.
God this fight wrecked me, I had to just parry 95% of his screen filling nonsense.
Worst kind of boss in a soulslike. The one who keeps running away from you in the arena and you can't get closer and deal damage.

Why does calling for a second companion have to be on-line in a fight like this???

The elemental tricks can also be deflected/dodged.
The only boss fight where I called for reinforcements.
This was truly a nightmare of nightmares.

Uh, if you didn't find it yet you have to exchange the golden hooves you get on the thousand mile journey to remove the cap.

Phase 1 can get really annoying, but Phase 2 is probably one of my favorite phases in the game. Easily the hardest fight in Wo Long.

There's no reason this boss should be shitstorming me when I'm over 100 levels for the requirement.
Nioh’s combat was not that deep imo, but I agree, this is just worse. This boss especially is just evil
This game is one of the worst games ever, easily below tons of indie and F2P games, why does Team Ninja even bother?
