Quest For The Stanley Cup Episode 5 (2019)

With the Stanley Cup Final matchup set, the series turns its cameras to the Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues, on and off the ice. The episode opens with Bruins forward David Backes at his Boston home with his wife, Kelly, daughter Stella and son Dawson during the team’s extended wait for the start for the Final. Backes reflects on his time with the Blues and the irony of facing his former team in his first Stanley Cup Final appearance.
Before the official start of the Stanley Cup Final, the cameras follow Blues and Bruins players taking part in photo shoots and interviews with media outlets from around the world at Media Day in Boston; go grocery shopping with Bruins captain Zdeno Chara; and spend some time with Blues forward David Perron on his 31st birthday.
In Game 1, the Blues’ 2-0 lead in the second period was upstaged by the Bruins’ four-goal comeback to a 4-2 win and a 1-0 series lead. Before Game 2, the episode visits with Bruins anthem singer, Todd Angilly, who doubles as a bartender at TD Garden, before returning to the action on the ice. The Blues evened the Stanley Cup Final at 1-1 with a 3-2 overtime win in Game 2, the franchise’s first Stanley Cup Final win ever.
