- Welcome back for another Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon video. In this video, I will be talking about what happens during House of the Dragon season 2 episode 4. This is my official House of the Dragon season 2 episode 4 preview teaser trailer breakdown. I go over everything that happens during the Battle at Rook's Rest, based on what it says in George R.R. Martin's book, Fire and Blood. This battle will change everything! Rhaenys and her dragon Meleys will fight Aegon II Targaryen, Aemond Targaryen, and their dragons, Sunfyre and Vhagar! Unfortunately, Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon Meleys will die. King Aegon II Targaryen and his dragon Sunfyre will get badly injured. Only Aemond and Vhagar will walk away from this without any major issues. The Dance of the Dragons has officially begun! Let me know what you think down below. Thanks for watching!

I’m glad each episode drops once a week. Rather than dropping a whole season at once like Netflix. It gives you a chance to let each episode really soak in. And come to talking thrones each week for all the Easter eggs and theories. It allows you to be, immersed in Westeros for a couple months. When they drop a whole season in one day like the Witcher, for example, it comes and goes less than a week.
I can enjoy both sides 😂

2:52 I think there's a small mistake, this is the sept in Dragonpit. The sept of Baelor isn't constructed yet in this timeline. It was made by Baelor I Targaryen after having a dream of a sept atop of Visenya hill.

Its going to be equally great and sad to see Rhaneys & Meleys go out the way they do in the book, But if its anything close to how they presented Prince Lucerys Death we are in for a treat!

I know! Rhaenys has become one of my favorite characters. I wish we got to see more of her and Meleys before next week. Sunfyre is supposed to be BEAUTIFUL too and I wish we got to see more of him before he gets crippled.

I don’t know why Aegon would be mad about his father not wanting him to be king in truth because in season one he didn’t want it anyway. They literally had to force him after having to hunt him down.

First, because Viserys not wanting him as king shows the abscent father figure to Aegon, his weak spot. Secondly. when he had the crown, he felt in love with it and the love shown to him that he has craved so much in his life... that's the thing.
Well now he's finally accepted it and wants it.
I am glad Daemon isn't quite acknowledging Rhaenyra because things didn't go well when we heard one Targaryen saying to the other that she was her queen

Every episode is wasting like 25-30 min in useless scenes...... Just pathetic, the only way this would have worked is if they released the entire series at once. Otherwise waiting a week after watching an hour of wasted time is going to drive away viewers.

@@668771 Lol, just because you've been conditioned by tiktok to have a 30 second attention span doesn't mean everyone else does and it doesn't mean every bit of media produced needs to cater to you. The pacing is great, go watch the animated DVD extra of the DotD if you want a condensed version.
I am sad to hear about Rhaenys. And with such limited dragons in the first place, they should have never used them for their war.
They are bogus for never showing sunfyre throughout the entire series all up until he is going to have a fight... Giving nobody any time to have a connection w/ him as we do with Meleys and Vhagar.. And then we would never see him in his full glory ever again after the same episode they show him to us lmao
yh they’ve fumbled the dragons big time with their book changes, danys dragons look nothing like syrax but apparently shes their mother now, syrax is the same size as 20 years ago, same with caraxes, and like you say not showing sunfyre despite his impact (and plot armour) in the story to come
It further cements my opinion that "creative liberties" should be very limited in adaptations and no one should adapt with a strong opinion on the side they dislike.

There’s a lot of these houses that I’ve never heard of in the show Game of Thrones.
Yes. Some become diminished in size and power because of this war. Others fade out for a multitude of reasons. And many of them are actually mentioned in the books for ASOIAF, but not the show. However, a majority of them still exist. The Hightowers, Blackwoods, etc, are all still around during GoT. Just don't have the pull they used to have.
Some are important in GoT but they simply dont make an appearance because in GOT storyline they arent as relevant or dont do much of note (Blackwoods, Brackens, Hightowers). Others belong to this houses but probably you didnt know. For example, the three eye raven is a Targaryen bastard with a Blackwood. Margory's mother is a Hightower too hehe etc...
In the Dance for example, the Tyrells are important but they dont do anything of relevance in the war. So for someone watching just HoTD, Tyrells is a house they dont know about when they go watch GoT.
Well this is pre game of thrones so just like real life things change

It's a great shame we haven't seen much of Sunfire and its beauty. If it's meat to be the most beautiful dragon then I would have liked to see a bit of Aegon riding Sunfire and bonding with her.
Personally being “surprised” isn’t as important as others make it seem. I like knowing wats going to happen first makes me appreciate the details more. Dont be bummed about being spoiled. Let it enhance it for u

Rhaenera is the cause of Rhaenys death. If only she had listened to Daemond she would have won another end. She was too late. She gave the greens enough time to prepare themselves.
Same happened to Daenerys when she refused to listened to Lady Olenna instead heeded the advice of Tyrion thereby giving Ccercei enough time to prepare. After loosing all her allies, She was too late and took a bad decision to destroy the whole city. What a shame.
Rhaenera failing to listen to Daemond was her downfall. Daemond's plan looks deadly but it was the right approach to handle the Hightowers.
Rhaenys is the cause of her own death. She could have killed them all with her dragon and saved everyone the trouble. Now look at the mess.
Eager to see if Aemonds frustrations will play a part in Aegons injuries 🍿

If Viserys had named his son Dave/Barry/Nigel Targaryen, the entire confusion over the Aegon/Prince Who Was Promised story (and the tragic events afterwards) could have been avoided.

@@horuslupercal2385Uh no. If you recall after Alicent told everyone at the council none of them accepted her and show they had already been planning to place Aegon on the throne. Alicent realising she misinterpreted is a part of her personal struggle and the way she tries to justify the actions she takes and people she sides with to be able to cope with this life she feels trapped in since she was a girl. Even if Aegon was called Barry or whatever, Otto and the others of the small council had already intended to usurp the throne and place Aegon on it.

Which like is fine watch in whatever way you enjoy most but it can be a bit annoying to see so many boldly claiming things that are just objectively false in the shows canon.

Im curious to see what they do with Aegons burns. I actually imagined it to be kind of badass looking. But i know its definitely more likely just to be disgusting. But still interested to see if its full on or will they scale it back to make it easier and cheaper to film with a scaled back version. A lot like Tyrion in GoT

Even when Otto arrived at the dragon stone to present terms, they should have burned him and Criston Cole. Now these two people are the ones advising Aegon.

If Viserys 1st refused to marry again after Rhaenyra's Mother died then there would be know civil war. Otto knew if he did remarry, as soon as a boy was born he would start plotting against Rhaenyra's claim. Alicante was a tool used by Otto, he manipulated her & then she didn't help herself either & grew jealous & bitter towards Rhaenyra, passed it on to her Son's. Otto is to blame for it all & now he reaps what he sowed.
Why didn't Daemond just tell blood and cheese to kill the king? He was wide open.. its still a son for a son and the war would be over

How do you mean to take back? Once someone bonds with a dragon, theyre bonded for life
They have to kill him before TRYING to take it back. A dragon bonds with one rider at a time. Vhagar is Aemond's until death do them part.

So when Alicent said the prince that is promised it’s all a misunderstanding? The king meant his daughter and alicent assumed he meant aegon ?
He meant the first King Aegon, but Alicent convinced herself that he meant their son Aegon (who was named after the first King Aegon).

@jaymills1720 it confirmed to her that Alicent took it wrong. That all of what Alicent had done since, was based on her own lie to herself. Her father had only told her about the Song of Ice and Fire.
I wouldn't call it the main event, the death of Rhaenys, there is still the death of Cole and Jacerys in the Gaunt.

I think George rr Martin made a mistake killing rhaenys so soon. Should have killed one of Daemonds kids and rhaenyss grand daughter instead, but i get it no character is safe
This whole war doesn't last very long at all. There are lots of battles in a tremendously short time.
A question. How did Rhaenys die and Aegon get severe burns and nearly die because of the heat of the dragons scorching each other, but Aemond did not suffer any injuries at all? Did he have a parachute and landed softly far away from the spot all three dragons fell, or is he the rare one, immune to fire? Somehow he landed softly and got no burns.
Vhagar didn't take a direct hit, or at least she was so large that any she did take were so far away from Aemond that he wasn't hurt.
I saw somewhere it said Vhagar falls on them from a higher height. Will be insane on screen 🤯

The entire story is tragic and could have been avoided if Otto hadn't driven a wedge between Alicent and Rhaynera. 😢

I'm looking forward to rhaenys receiving justice after m*rd*ring countless commoners at the coronation. No shade on the actress herself, she played it well, but her character is unapologetically monstrous, so good riddance.

Man it's so trash we never got to see and bond with Sunfyre throughout two seasons unlike other dragons, now we'll see him for 20 seconds and then he gets crippled, he's literally one of the more important aspects of the story ffs, also the whole succession thing being based on a misunderstanding by Alicent is F'ing hilarious, like really? is this a joke? Mr Daemon being a potential threat to Aegon and co and the realm is a far better reason to question Rhaenyra's succession, also every single thing that can be seen as dirt on the Blacks has been removed or altered because everything is propaganda xD
