- A collection to celebrate an icon. Tom Curren. Whether winning world titles or his documented discoveries on the search, Curren's legacy is riddled with timeless moments. These epic images have been interpreted into product with a sole intention of creating a line as timeless as Curren's forehand carve...

Also, until 1992, Curren boycotted South African events in opposition the unjust apartheid system. By the time this ride happened, apartheid was officially on it's way out. This fact adds major context to the ride and in my opinion is super cool.
The sultan of speed style and grace , Tom Curran 👍
The greatest. Didn't surf for money or fame. Tom is the greatest of all time.
RIP Sonny Miller. You are a true legend.
My favorite surfer of all time.
Mine too
Seriously miss the days of TC. No claims, no wasting wave face to do a spinny thing. Thanks Sonny Miller for your work! RIP Sir.
Poetry. Uses every inch of a wave. Smooth, chill and so powerful. A top tier quality human also. THE GOAT.
magic
I love his bottom turns between barrels where he almost looks back. Incredible
First wave, unknown board... truly uncanny and so gifted to ride that wave with such flow, no wasted pumps to catch up or stalls... I remember sitting in the sand at the OP Pro in Huntington Beach when TC was surfing his heats.. all flow, throwing buckets on 3 foot waves because he kept his speed. The best.
RIP Sonny Miller.
This is still one of the best ride possible on a wave.
in the 80,s in Perth wa they had a pro comp at trigg I saw him free surf at 2nd car park in 2 foot waves iv never seen such amazing style power timing I stopped surf a just watched
this is art in motion between creative videography and the subject of Tom curren creating as he rides the wave.
Damn this is the best riden wave I've ever seen, great music selection and edit aswell
That bottom turn is gnarly
The best
This era of Tom is simply stunning and, in my opinion, there is still no better footage of a surfer anywhere. Then same style and craft in the J Bay Heritage heat decades later.
He didn’t ride this same board or design. He rode a borrowed CI Proton in the heritage heat he scored a 10 on. But his surfing wasn’t on par with this by any means, mostly because he’s been riding bizarre experimental stuff mostly ever since. Would love to see how good Tom could be as he turns 60 soon on some refined equipment but maybe that’s too normal and boring for him now.
So Stoked to have been a part of it ! His wave at Scottburgh pipe was also ground breaking !
Poetry on a wave
The master
2:06 omg just one of my fav moments in surf movies ❤❤
UNCLE ROBBIE JUST CHILLING THERE!! 🤯🤯🤯 @1:35 Mans a legend!!
What no airs? Hell to the naw naw fly boys..This is what surfing is all about
You can't beat that
Amazing!!!
Amazing
Flawless lines.
One of the smoothest surfers ever
Rumour has it his second wave was pretty good, too.
Can you re-release the Sonny Miller/Curren films, particularly Searching for Tom Curren, Thanks...
100% natural ability.
Todd Proctor and Sam George were there that day in the surf.
Please tell me that's on Maurice Cole reverse vee, eev.
Miracle. It was so hard to capture moments back then that his cutback at backdoor on the Maurice Cole was not captured on film, or was it?
It was captured you gotta search for it.
@@kaizenlife1152I found it a while back after posting. Intro part on the surf movie Momentum.
*On video doesn't look super special but then again I think it was too far away and on VHS
Anyone knows the name / artist of the main tune @1.50? Thx!
+Mathieu Cuvelier Indian Melody by Calhoun. Killer tune.
+Frohmund Burger Yes! Was written at the end - I saw it afterward :) Thanks anyway.
thank you for question. Nice music.
what were the specs of that board? what a legend
Pretty sure its a one of a kind Maurice Cole 7’3” RV small squashtail.
airton senna do surf brother
And look at that board -
Looks terrible! But he makes it magic! What a magician -
Flow city
What looks terrible about it? Draws nice lines. Great flow. Amazing speed. Totally connected. Maybe a touch long/narrow for the wave size but one of the greatest rides ever.
It’d be so dope if someone did a movie on Tom. You’d think it would have already happened especially since there are many surf docs with lesser known surfers. Peralta can always be trusted to do a great job. He did make Riding Giants.
The Japanese guy made a film called 'Tom and I',…. Tom told me that at Rip Curl last September at the Jimmy Metyko book signing. I asked Tom about 1983 film footage of him at the 1983 OB Hang Ten contest.
