  • Why do you add 7/16 of an inch to jack rafters on a Construction Master Pro? And is this always a good shortcut?
➡️ Because the CM Pro gives you the centerline length, adding 7/16” to this amount gives you the long point lengths.
➡️ Yes and No: Adding 7/16” is a good estimate for shallow pitched regular hips and valleys using 2x stock. But as the roof gets steeper, this estimate gets less and less accurate.

Hey adam, if you want the full 45 degree thickness, enter the full thickness as RUN. Then enter 45 and push PITCH. For half 45 thickness, do the same but enter only half the thickness. Trig formula would be SIN(45)= Thickness ➗➗45 degree thickness (unknown). Then solve for the unknown. Hope this helps!
