Thanks for this - crazy that there is so little documentation about such an obviously important part of the machine.
Yeah they really made life difficult with this!
Thank you for this one for sure! 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks, the little machine is very capable. Appreciate the tuning insight!
Nice one - watched two official tutorials which didn't cover this. Much appreciated :)
Finally! That was the only reason I didn't get one. Thanks for the explanation! Really helpful!
This is a great video. It opens up a whole new dimension to programming this box. I am new to the TR-6S, but the more I learn about it, the more I love it. It is so capable in such a tiny package. I really appreciate your patience and musical insight into making this more than a drum machine. I also loved your video about getting some 303 bass sounds out of the TR-6s. Cheers!
So helpful, thanks for the clear and easy to follow instructions.
Really good video. I didn't realise that device was so versatile.
It is a cool little device
Brilliant tutorial thanks buddy just got mine I love it ! So just getting into what it does
THANK YOU! You are amazing and saved me a lot of time figuring this out 🙏
Thanks for your effort in doing this work. It’s just what I was looking for. The tuning table and the shortcut to coarse tuning is very useful.
Thank you so much for this video! I scoured the manual and found NOTHING lol
this is fantastic - thank you for the detailed explanation!
Thank you for your amazing tutorial ! I finally found the perfect one to learn how to register notes manually 🔥
I was looking for this info. Super cool, thanks for making this video, and your chart!
Super helpful! Thanks for making this.
A lot of thanks! Greetins from Mx
Try keep knobs with 1st and 3rd finger and put 2nd finger on top of knob. It give you more precision :)
Incredibly helpful!
Thnx 4 this m8
HA!! I love the chart you made for what roland tune values = notes! i was just trying to figure that out when i found your video. i started thinking it was 12 roland tune values = a semi tone but that wasn't precise. grin. it makes sense when i see your calculations that roland wanted to divide and octave into 127. i was also bummed i couldn't figure out how to use Coarse Tune with Motion but now i know: turn it into the control function. thank you!.
Very helpful, thanks so much!
thank you more than useful
Great tutorial.
Thanks, really helpful 😘
Nice touch, thanks.
wow! many thanks!
Thmx dude 🖖 i very long find something like this 🎛
Thanks !! Very useful...
Amazing video thanks. Same theory for tuning the kicks presumably?
Yes I would assume its the same for kicks. Not tried it though
I will tune in later ..I’m walking my dog .. just to see what you know that I don’t .. I think same it’s a very capable machine ..tho it’s tr6 boutique is not as good when it comes to hardware ..but is also very good but to highly priced
im trying to tune my individual kick drum hits, and holding the step, and turning the tune knob ISNT changing it. i SWEAR i was able to do this somehow before, but it's not changing the pitch of the step anymore. instead of playing it live in the motion, I wanna just programming it by step in TR-REC mode EXACTLY like you do at 9:30, except on the pitch of my kick.. but it sounds exactly the same even tho I hold the step and turn the tune up or down and SEE the number chnge..
Thank you so much!
Thank You!
2:07 there’s no faster way to select trance bass? All that scrolling is a pain in the ass. I wish they included a speak option or number pad to key in the code like a digital keyboard.
There are categories. Hold shift while turning the value knob to go to the next category
You can also push the value knob when you get to a category you want and it will show you sounds only in that category. I think holding shift while selecting skips by 10 while doing this.
Really awesome video, again. I was working thru kick drums and wondering how this works. I'm going to do some more research and I'll share if I find anything, but have you found the 808 and 606 kicks to be tuned to C as well when on Tune 0? I play them with a bass note and they kind of sound like C and kind of don't. My ears may just be tired but I'll pull out my guitar tuner next.
Is there a certain type of sound/pattern/kit that has to be used? I just got one yesterday, and I can only get the note tuning to work for certain patterns and kits. I'm trying to figure out but struggling. I'm trying to start with a blank slate, but I have to go into the preset patterns to get the note tuning to work.
Thank you. But what a pain. Feels easier on my PO33
It is. And it’s easier on the (much cheaper, though very different) Volca Drum which got pitch quantization with the last firmware update.
It’s useful ,, but surely it’s like guitar …. Some people down tune. So it’s not really going to be a problem for general beats n harmony if your sync to anything ( because u can tune it in the fly anyway ) , ?! Rite .. it’s well worth knowing tho
LOL. Nice work!
Have u got a tutorial for namin a drum pattern you've made up
No but I can do one if I get chance
@@rezzonator that would be great 😊
Dude thank you so much, but I have a slight problem. When I try to use a different variation I’m stuck with the same note pattern from the first one. Any idea of what I’m doing wrong?
Hmm. Not sure. If you programme new note values on the variation it should change to that. I'll have a think
probably Av ago tonight cheers for that .i dont understand you only have 473 likes ...anyway ;;ll.,;';.,.;computers are a headache at the best of times
just made improv of tr6s and tb03 with tr editor on my channel!
why do you have to write them down, can you not preview what you've tuned it to until you press play and let the sequence occur?
Roland must have changed all this in the last update. I’m not able to access “Coarse Tune” in the Shift>Inst menu on any kits or instruments
That's weird. Normally you would press shift and then inst as you said. First parameter on mine is tune and then the third one along as you scroll is coarse tune. Have you done a recent update?
Your EQ is really quiet, but it could just be the way the video is recorded
I think zero is a step 2 .. that makes 128
Coarse tune isn’t showing in any of my menus…
Can this whole pattern be transposed to another key?
They make this unnecessarily complicated. Took me 3 hours to figure out how to update to 1.5
so what is diifrence beetween coarse tune and tune ??
Coarse tune steps up or down in semitones or half steps so for example if you tune a nite to C and then turn the tune up one step it would go to c sharp. You can go up or down up to 2 octaves on the coarse tune. The tune dial sort of does a smooth blend between notes like over an octave (think that's right!). So generally I would use tune to set my root note and then coarse tune to get to specific notes from the starting note. Hope that makes sense!!
If anyone is here, in need help please! How in the name of GOD do you make the pattern shorter? Like, when I hit start/stop, I can clear what I see, I know you hold clear and hit the pattern you want cleared BUT when I hit the buttons to make a pattern, it plays my pattern but then stops and I have to wait for the light to make its way back... I'm ready to just,...fn ...do something.
Way late, but hit variation and make sure only the variations you want to play are playing.
Say you have a pattern variation on A, and B through H are empty, but they're selected. It'll play your pattern on A, but will go through to H as well. So instead of pattern A looping, it plays and is followed by 7 bars of silence before playing again
@skeome lol, thanks man! As you said, a little late but I did eventually figure that part out. Where I am stuck at is when making a variation, .... ok, I make a pattern, copy it to variation one, then I augment that first variation and copy it to variation 2 but now variation 1 is not the original.... so, I am stuck here. Thanks for the help
@@hstone0808 I see. You'll want to make the copy on a variation/step you aren't using yet. If you copy A to A, then change A, there's no longer an original. BUT if you copy A to H, H is now the original A, so you can change A as much as you want, copy it to any variation other than H, then copy H to A to make A the original again.
Or you could copy A to B, then edit B. So A stays the original the entire time
@skeome thanks man. I will give that a try when I get off work
🦾🦡❤
I take it the tr app now resolves this type of note entering?
Not sure to be honest. Not used the app that much. Will have to have a look but guessing it should make life easier
@@rezzonator yeah i guess either way using the app involves being hooked up to a computer. So knowing how to this without one is very valid!
I never knew Lee Mack was into drum machines...very interesting
Está bien que menciones las características, pero... ¿SUENA o no suena? Mucho bla, bla, bla y poco sound.
