    Thanks for this - crazy that there is so little documentation about such an obviously important part of the machine.

    This is a great video. It opens up a whole new dimension to programming this box. I am new to the TR-6S, but the more I learn about it, the more I love it. It is so capable in such a tiny package. I really appreciate your patience and musical insight into making this more than a drum machine. I also loved your video about getting some 303 bass sounds out of the TR-6s. Cheers!

    HA!! I love the chart you made for what roland tune values = notes! i was just trying to figure that out when i found your video. i started thinking it was 12 roland tune values = a semi tone but that wasn't precise. grin. it makes sense when i see your calculations that roland wanted to divide and octave into 127. i was also bummed i couldn't figure out how to use Coarse Tune with Motion but now i know: turn it into the control function. thank you!.

    im trying to tune my individual kick drum hits, and holding the step, and turning the tune knob ISNT changing it. i SWEAR i was able to do this somehow before, but it's not changing the pitch of the step anymore. instead of playing it live in the motion, I wanna just programming it by step in TR-REC mode EXACTLY like you do at 9:30, except on the pitch of my kick.. but it sounds exactly the same even tho I hold the step and turn the tune up or down and SEE the number chnge..

    2:07 there’s no faster way to select trance bass? All that scrolling is a pain in the ass. I wish they included a speak option or number pad to key in the code like a digital keyboard.

    • @skeome
      @skeome Před 3 měsíci

      There are categories. Hold shift while turning the value knob to go to the next category
      You can also push the value knob when you get to a category you want and it will show you sounds only in that category. I think holding shift while selecting skips by 10 while doing this.

    Really awesome video, again. I was working thru kick drums and wondering how this works. I'm going to do some more research and I'll share if I find anything, but have you found the 808 and 606 kicks to be tuned to C as well when on Tune 0? I play them with a bass note and they kind of sound like C and kind of don't. My ears may just be tired but I'll pull out my guitar tuner next.

  • @Tyler-Nagle-Productions

    Is there a certain type of sound/pattern/kit that has to be used? I just got one yesterday, and I can only get the note tuning to work for certain patterns and kits. I'm trying to figure out but struggling. I'm trying to start with a blank slate, but I have to go into the preset patterns to get the note tuning to work.

    It’s useful ,, but surely it’s like guitar …. Some people down tune. So it’s not really going to be a problem for general beats n harmony if your sync to anything ( because u can tune it in the fly anyway ) , ?! Rite .. it’s well worth knowing tho

    so what is diifrence beetween coarse tune and tune ??

    • @rezzonator
      @rezzonator  Před 2 lety +1

      Coarse tune steps up or down in semitones or half steps so for example if you tune a nite to C and then turn the tune up one step it would go to c sharp. You can go up or down up to 2 octaves on the coarse tune. The tune dial sort of does a smooth blend between notes like over an octave (think that's right!). So generally I would use tune to set my root note and then coarse tune to get to specific notes from the starting note. Hope that makes sense!!

    If anyone is here, in need help please! How in the name of GOD do you make the pattern shorter? Like, when I hit start/stop, I can clear what I see, I know you hold clear and hit the pattern you want cleared BUT when I hit the buttons to make a pattern, it plays my pattern but then stops and I have to wait for the light to make its way back... I'm ready to just,...fn ...do something.

    • @skeome
      @skeome Před 3 měsíci +1

      Way late, but hit variation and make sure only the variations you want to play are playing.
      Say you have a pattern variation on A, and B through H are empty, but they're selected. It'll play your pattern on A, but will go through to H as well. So instead of pattern A looping, it plays and is followed by 7 bars of silence before playing again

    • @hstone0808
      @hstone0808 Před 3 měsíci

      @skeome lol, thanks man! As you said, a little late but I did eventually figure that part out. Where I am stuck at is when making a variation, .... ok, I make a pattern, copy it to variation one, then I augment that first variation and copy it to variation 2 but now variation 1 is not the original.... so, I am stuck here. Thanks for the help

    • @skeome
      @skeome Před 3 měsíci

      @@hstone0808 I see. You'll want to make the copy on a variation/step you aren't using yet. If you copy A to A, then change A, there's no longer an original. BUT if you copy A to H, H is now the original A, so you can change A as much as you want, copy it to any variation other than H, then copy H to A to make A the original again.
      Or you could copy A to B, then edit B. So A stays the original the entire time
