Question. How do you find such great craftsman/professionals? From my experience (maybe just bad luck), almost all contractors are looking to finish quick, cheapest way and move on. Unfortunately almost all customers are equally indifferent to quality as long as it "works/looks ok". I'm just fascinated that you built such a big team of perfectionists.
From my experience it's all about educating and setting expectations early on and communicating that continually through the project. It's not easy, but when you set the bar high earlier it's easier then trying to change it much later down the road in a project.
You are fortunate to have found some great guys to build with. 22 years as a carpenter at 38 here .. 2 years in business and failing to find quality good natured workers to grow with. Send a few down to the Cape guy.
My question is similar! Nick, my relationship with subcontractors has been mostly schedule, cost efficiency, and code compliance. How do you build relationships with your tradespeople where you can talk through challenging architectural details and work together to come up with innovative solutions? How do you cultivate the collaboration from subcontractors where they are willing to do more detailed work/ put slightly more money into a job for a unique and quality project?
