I love studying cultures that are as far away from mine as possible. Plus, It’s a heaven for worldbuilding!
I just love figuring out how each individual people from different cultures around the globe survived. Farming, preserving, hunting, gathering practices. The cooking and music is a bonus, but survival is one thing that is common between us all.
Are you making a novel?
@@karlnz1471
Well no, not yet, haha. Right now I’m just worldbuilding
You should read Aztec by Gary Jennings. He researched, and lived with the indigenous peoples of Mexico and created a beautiful story that humanized my culture into something other than human sacrifices. It was an elegant society with art, poetry, music and education for all genders.
The first two drummings are from Tahiti. The last drummings are from the Cook Islands. This Photo are chiefs Matai or warriors from Samoa.
wow, how can you tell? thanks for sharing the info!
@@valerievalentova whether your a drummer from samoa, cook islands or tahiti you will know the identification of each families. Whether you are from samoa, cook islands or tahiti we are one family. Even if you are from Havaii, Rapanui or Aotearoa we are all one family. Tangaroa had many kids and most of these islands and countries know that. Tagaloa in Samoa, kanaloa in Havaii, ta'aroa in tahiti and Rapanui and Tangaroa in the Cook islands and Aotearoa. Most of us do not acknowledge that anymore. That is how I know. Thank you for your comments Valerie Valentova. Keep safe during this covid19. Love you all my family from polynesia.
@@teokotaiandrew3472Native Hawaiian here, thank you for spreading the love
@@teokotaiandrew3472 may I ask, do you know where the drummers are from because you who they are or can you tell from the style of drumming? Curious to know
@@MorrisonProductions im gonna jump right on and answer this one if i may.... lol.... yes, there is a distinct drumming style that distinguishes the Cook Islands from Tahitian. And even within the Cook Islands, each island has their own style again. Let it be known that the Cook Islanders introduced that kind of drumming to Tahiti during cultural exchange and dance etc competitions in the mid 1900's. The predominant Drumming of Tahiti then was on skin drums, or pahu rima. Although the Wooden Slit Drum, or Tokere/To'ere, was present in Tahiti, it was not played as an orchestration in the way the Cook Islanders did until they adopted it from the Cook Island Dance teams that ventured to Tahiti for cultural comps and exchange programs. Since then, the Tahitians have developed thier own style which to the untrained ear may sound the same as Cook island Drumming. but some understanding of rhythm and syncopation is needed to determine the difference. I'm not gonna lie, but Moana brought me here. This music is awesome. No kidding, the more you hear it the more it makes you wanna dance a little lol.
Hahahahahaha same
HehehHahah sameeeee
Yes it is like goa
One of the things we Africans and Polynesians have in common: We love Drums and music! They're so similar!
Native Americans heavily use drums as well. I suggest listening to some of the Pueblo or Apache ceremonial music, very percussive as well. Drums/percussive instruments are the oldest type of musical instrument so it makes since that they are the most ingrained and universal across cultures and societies.
I'm from East Indonesia, East Nusa Tenggara, are we still a Polynesian nation, the contents of the photos in this video are similar to us in East Nusa Tenggara
I think all humans can agree that banging sticks on things makes fun noises
@@brontm6089 nah a lot of southeast Asians try to say they’re Pacific Islanders out of insecurity
Say that again! We are cultural siblings.

These rhythms sound quite modern actually. Very cool.
I would say modern rhythms are based off of it.
These rhythms sounds been in our Polynesia culture for thousands of years thank you

@@smokestui8139 I wonder how much Polynesian music evolved across its 3,000 year history. I doubt it was constant and unchanging from 1000 BC to 1700 AD. Unfortunately we don't have sheet music from 100 BC. Maybe some musicologists could reconstruct things by comparing music across different islands, like they reconstruct Proto-Polynesian words... 🤔
@@Santosificationable Nah, Polynesians are actually just time travelers
ZELDAS'S majoras mask includes a bit of this in the deku temple soundtrack!
It's weird if you make rap beats you can get down to this. I feel like if I was a guest and they asked me to drum I'd fit right into the beat

I like flutes too, haha, Peru brought me here, I think we are all cousins and I'm missing my Tahitian friend Nani I haven't seen here since she was 15yrs old in Southern California that was years ago I wanna say 35yrs ago, she was a sweet kind well mannered girl from Tahiti! We meet at the Kingdom Hall I really prayed for her life all through the years , one time I saw her at one of our conversations and she ran up to us with the Biggest smile! I was carrying around a small gift for her I got to give it to her, pure sisterly love I felt when I saw her, my little Sister! 🏞️ ("We are all related" I love these comments about unity)

ADDED DECEMBER 17TH SUNDAY 2023 i am listening SOUTH PACIFIC SEAS ON AN ISLAND
Мне как будто по костям перестучали, никогда бы не подумала что мне это понравится
When I hear stuff like this I can't help but think of random westernized people who've visited remote tribes in the Amazon, taken ayahuasca, and sat in a drum circle of similar magnitude. Seems like it'd be a little over-stimulating.
I'm thinking about writing a fantasy story with Polynesian-inspired main characters.
One thing..... don't say we came from Africa because we didn't. We came from Asia. Anyways thank you for including us .
Hello is it going to be a webnovel? If so, I am interested in reading your novel
@@mrfin02 didn't all people came from Africa?
@@karlnz1471 it is a possibility! Usually I write for my own fun but lately I've looked into the possibilities of internet publishing.
I don't think we have seen enough Polynesian-themed fantasy. They are the ultimate adventurers in my opinion.
Tahiti drums mix with cook islands drums to level up the Tahiti standard
My first guess, this is Rarotongan.
I just wish I could get the tittles of the songs in OUM THE WHITE DOLPHIN IN POLYNESIA THE PEOPLE OF MAHOUTOU
The picture are Samoan men and women. That sound is a pate, and not sure what other instruments. Normally we use pate and mat, but those days they would have had drums.

@@jonyfreston256 I'm aware, it's just that Polynesians actually originated in ancient Taiwan.

A quick google search shows that I'm indeed right, much of Polynesia has ties to ancient Taiwan.
I’ve been studying human genealogy for a number of years and yes, it’s agreed that all modern Polynesians are direct descendants of the ancient Aboriginal Taiwanese. Specifically the ones that were ocean navigators. You as a Polynesian also share the same ancient Siberian ancestors as Indigenous Americans. If you think about the geography, particularly how close Hawaii is to America, it makes total sense. Also, the fact the coast line of Chile is just over 9000 kilometres away from New Zealand....
Toré... parfois vos rythmes me manquent!!
It's similar to maldivian tradition music
Ok, i don't know... hehehe
What does this music mean?
I mean, really, this is COOL AF! I think the Haka actually came from them.
How did you come up with that conclusion?
bro there samoan samoan war dances are siva tau and ailao and matamatame no haks
Close! Aotearoa's Māori are the ones who perform the Haka. These guys are Samoan though judging by the comments, both are part of Polynesian race though.

By observing genes, dressing styles, accents, vocabulary, food habits we can learn about human migration and social interaction. The traditions and rituals may alter with time but hints of certain flavors of the ancient past will still be evident for those that can recognize them.. here the sounds of ancient Polynesia are similar to South Indian mridanagam? czcams.com/video/AI9RJbljBLw/video.html
