    Useful video, I learnt some useful things, like the 3/8 square hole, before tackling mine.
    However, overtightening fasteners can be worse than not tightening them enough as you risk going past the elastic limit.

      I'm glad this has been able to help and yep that's exactly why I put thread locker on them because I wanted to make sure they would only come undone when I want them to.

    Hi ZX. I done timing kit change and coolant pump and liquid, on my Peugeot 309 1.8 diesel. I was watching your video and some othhers and learning. It was very difficult, take almost 8 hours. Job done with engine on vehicle with very litle or no space for movement at all. Thanks

      Glad you liked the video and yep doing the belt and water pump change with the engine on a stand makes a better video for youtube and makes the job much easier. But I do understand whilst still in the car there is hardly any space to work with.

    Hi, what a great set of videos you have made for the xud9 engine. I have a problem you can hopefully help with, I have this exact engine in my boat, the only difference is the cooling system has been mark used for sea water cooling. Unfortuatly the company who made/converted my engine in the 90’s has gone bust, and I am struggling to get some spare parts. Mostly because of the age and the fact I don’t have a car ref/model the engine is exactly from.
    You wouldn’t know where I could get/or just part numbers for the following.
    1. The pulley/gear wheel for the fuel injection pump.
    2. The oil filler reservoir/tube. (The plastic tube) above the starter motor.

      A trip to a scrap yard should get you the parts you need.

    Hi, thanks for the video.
    One advice, you shouldn't tighten bolt on crankshaft (50° angle) with dynamometer. You could destroy it like this. I bet it needs calibration after that.

    Do the shaft seals come in the kit you used?
    Where online is best to find the kit? Im overseas and have to order online as passenger diesels are not common here!

      Yep I got the shaft seals as part of a full engine rebuild kit if it helps i will leave the link to what I bought below
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332812621632
      I am unable to help more than that I'm sorry possible idea is inner and outer diameter of shafts could be used to maybe cross reference to a compatible part maybe

    I have a Bobcat 751 skid steer with the XUD9 in it. I need to have the injector pump rebuilt (its leaking). What tool to you use to remove the pump and also what timing tools are needed.??

    • @TheZXGuy
      @TheZXGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello a pretty basic toolkit is all that's needed to undo this lot and remove the pump. The pump is held in place with 4 x 13mm nuts and if I remember correctly the nut on the cam is a 19mm all the cover bolts are 10mm with 1 sneaky 11mm bolt on the back of the engine.
      As for timing the top cam and fuel pump cam should line up with 3 bolt holes 2 on the pump and 1 on the top cam you can screw a bolt that threads nicely into these to lock them into place and I used a 6mm drill bit to lock the flywheel into location the hole for this is behind the starter motor.

    Hello, I am in Australia and have a 1999 Tata Telcoline ute. The Tata uses a copy of the Peugeot 1.9 XUD bored out to 2.0L. Have you had much experience tweaking the fuel pump? I have a 300 TDi Land Rover and tweaking the pump on that made a huge difference... just wondering if the peugeot wakes up alot with pump adjustments?
    Thanks

      @TheZXGuy  Před 3 lety +2

      Hello I haven't done any tweaking to my fuel pump based on i don't really want to mess with it due to having very little knowledge and I have to keep the car going as my daily driver at the moment.

    Hello, I am in Tampa, Fl, I have a bobcat 751 with XUD9 engine. I have problems with the injection pump and in this area no one wants to work with this type of pump, I heard in one of the videos you uploaded, changing lucas for bosch pump, what kind of pump would you recommend, thank you

    • @TheZXGuy
      @TheZXGuy  Před 3 lety

      Hello in regards to this I am currently running the lucas pump with no problems because the bosch pump that I acquired was broken and I can't afford to get it sorted just yet.
      The only reason i was planning to change to the bosch pump is because I wanted to learn how to adjust it for slightly more power.
      It's also rumoured that the bosch runs better than the lucas on veg oil.

    Hi, thanks for this great and useful video! I have this engine (XUD9SD) on my Suzuki Vitara and it's great engine. It's simple mechanics but very reliable if maintained well. Just be careful you forced the torque wrench too much beyond the click. (12:57). I'm affraid you might decalibrate your wrench. Apart from that you did a great job!

    Can you tell me if this is a interference engine or non-interference engine? Most timing belts are non- interference I just wanted to know because i'm looking at a Toro mower that has one of these.

    • @TheZXGuy
      @TheZXGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      I am sorry I can't give a definite answer to this but what I will say from having this engine apart and being able to see the distance of travel from the valves I would say this is an interference engine and in the result of the timing belt breaking would cause a valve to bend.
      I hope this helps.

    • @thedawgsarch
      @thedawgsarch Před 3 lety

    Hi mate. I just bought same Gates timing belt kit for my Peugeot 309 1.8 diesel. I am very dissapointed because roller and tensioner are made in China!? Very, very dissapionting from Gates :( Do you think it is safe for mounting in car? What is your experience?

    • @TheZXGuy
      @TheZXGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello mate I have only ever bought Gates or Drayco timing belt kits and never had any issues with either of them.
      But I tend to buy all my really important parts from a trusted parts shop for better warranty aspects anyway.

    • @djordjeradevic3307
      @djordjeradevic3307 Před 3 lety

      @@TheZXGuy I think that trusted parts shop will not give you any warranty if something goes wrong, because you are not authorized mechanic for this job. I think it is not problem seller but supplyer, in this case Gates. They put Chinese parts in their kits. If you put serial number from your roller or tensioner in Google, you will see that they are manufactured by Chinese factory Tinafor !!???? never heard! Shame on Gates. I will never, ever by any Gates product again. Do you have any problem with this kit, is it noisy or something else?

    • @TheZXGuy
      @TheZXGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      Warranty is void if believed incorrect fitment is the cause of the failure. So as a result even mainstream garages can have the warranty voided it's got nothing to do with qualifications.
      But like I said I've never had a problem with these kits and done thousands of miles on these kits even the manufacturers and garage use Gates kits so they can't be that bad.
      China does sometimes make good product not just rubbish product.
