For a band that's not considered metal.... when they do put the pedal to the metal they crush everything in their path! Phenomenal!
Well for today's standard it isn't really metal but back then you could maybe say that it's heavy rock/proto-metal. But definitely heavy!
For a band that wasn’t metal, it’s surprising that they invented thrash when they released two songs: Ogre Battle and Stone Cold Crazy.
I was there - £1 to get in, unbelievable. They nearly blew the roof off.
Did you see them ever again? Did you take any photos or even taped it?
Lucky you!
I love this version of Freddie Mercury, 72-78 with long hair and no mustache! He was great anytime but I just loved 70,s Queen the best. Their best music was in the 70,s before they went commercial!
Totally agree with you!!
Well, commercial wouldnt be the best word to use, but even though, their music really changed
Don't forget the rest of the journey
Me too 😊 I love early queen 👑💖
To be a teen in the 70s...
Queen, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Rush,BadCompany,Foreighner,Boston,Journey,The Stones,Yes.
I know it sucks to be headed towards the age of 60 but I am sure it was worth it.
Yes, definitely worth it. It was an amazing time!
absolutely David! The amount of great shows we saw at Maple Leaf Gardens in the 70's was staggering including Queen 4 times!
I'm with you brother! I'm so glad I had this in my teenage years, it was SO good. My favs back then were Queen - A Night at the Opera., David Bowie - Diamond Dogs, Led Zeppelin - II , Fleetwood Mac - self titled, Elton John - Yellow Brick Road Album, Pink Floyd - Dark Side. John Lennon - Imagine, Patty Smith - Easter, Iggy Pop - Lust for LIfe, Lou Reed - Transformer. A bit of John Cale, and B 52's for fun. What a time! I lived for it.
Yep that is me. I graduated in 77. It was the time of our lives and still is. We are lucky to still have these bands out there.
Chicago, Kiss, Aerosmith, Steve Miller Band, Elton John, 3 Dog Night, Eagles, Moody Blues just to name a few more.
I really need a Time Machine...so bad 😭
Me too😭
Me tooooo!!!!!!!!!💖💔💖💔💖💖💖💖💖

If you find one let me know, I would love to go with you

John Deacon was such a killer bassplayer !!! Freddie Mercury and John Deacon unbeatable !!!
hahahaha indeed :D wooow
Also Roger&Brian are LEGEND'S.GREATEST BAND.
What?, He was a killer? Never heard of that, was he in jail?, Damn, i tought he was a good person
@@hombrerusode40anos72 did you read he was a killer at the bass guitar
@@sadboy66922 ok, i tought he was refering to John as a murderer, lol
If you want to see any of the greatest rock and roll bands at their best, check out their live performances a year or so before they become a household name. They can sense the impending success, and they are hungry - their confidence and passion is fueled by the energy of the audience, creating a transcending and rapturous moment.
I agree! ;)
This is my favourite Queen concert, they are working their little butts off for applause
they had already hit number 1 with killer queen then, but yeah you can fell Freddie starts getting the hang of interacting and being a showman
@@SauraE Killer Queen hadn't been released at the time of this show. This was to promote Queen II which was released on March 8 1974 just a few weeks before this show. Killer Queen wasn't released until October 21, 1974 and the Sheer Heart Attack album in November 3 weeks later. Killer Queen also never went to number 1. The highest it ever got was the UK charts at #2. The highest it got in the US was #12.
Absolutely.. Great comment.
I was born late😭 i am so inlove with Queen... 24/7 im wacthing their videos on youtube❤❤❤
me too :)
Same here
Same here
Wow! Me too!!!🥰🔥🔥🔥
Queen is the only band that can go from Metal, Opera to Show Tunes!
Romano AND blues!
Don't forget latin, jazz, punk, music hall, waltz, gospel, rockabilly, disco, folk, new wave, ragtime, AOR, Arabic rock, synthwave, and soul!
And "Bolero" too, with the song "Who needs you" from News of the world!
they could blow the roof off a venue with noise and raw power during tie your mother down and sheer heart attack or be very gentle doing soft acoustics like 39 or love of my life, they were the best live band 100% for those of us lucky enough to see them our ears were ringing for days and and i lost my voice aswel, like roger said "we liked to blind them and deafen them in the first 10 minutes" 🤣 👑✊🇬🇧
Coz they are high skilled musician no matters the genre change, they music are always good
I absolutely love the early Queen stuff.Been a fan Since 1975, I was 11, now I'm almost 55 years old! Love you Freddie!!!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Ditto, born in 64. Saw them in 81 been a fan since 79
I was 12 in late 74 - early 75 I discovered Queen after accidentally listening to the 45 rpm Killer Queen/Flick of the Wrist 😁Been my favorite since !
@@johnnie3Chords lucky!
@@user-ky5tp7fz1h I saw them 3 times with Freddie , 77 - 80 - 82 , was up close in the front row in front of John for the game tour , third row in front of Brian for the Hot Space tour ! 😉
@@johnnie3Chords damn thats so good. You saw them on their live prime!
Still rocking in 2021 love you dear
I wasn't even born when Queen were in their prime but just became a fan after I saw the biopic movie last month. RIP Freddie ❤🌷
Son and Daughter is proof that Freddie was the greatest front man ever. It's hard to stop watching him perform this.
Freddie is mesmerizing. Mind-warping jaw-dropping solo from May. All hail the Queen.
Rog and John too. Kix it out z❗1974 - 1980 💛
Yes Amen
My God killer magical musicians. Even before Freddie was wild on stage you couldn't keep you eyes off him, he's down right mystical. This, Liar & Seven Seas gave Brian his wild tine. Never will there be another...NEVER
True!
Queen the greatest band I have heard wish I would have seen the band live
I got to see them back in 1980, but had crappy seats. Never the less, I was still at their concert!!! Love me some Freddie Mercury. RIP.💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
@@sharoncooper7732 Where did you see them?
@@logexpTommy In 1980 at The Forum in Englewood, California. I was 16 years old my first concert and my favorite band since 1975.
This is about the time I discovered Queen and became a huge fan. What I love about this footage is that it shows how Freddie started the crowd singing with “What comes next?” Queen fans would forever sing the lyrics. Awesome footage!
Same for Me , Killer Queen/Flick of the Wrist single ! 😁
Now that's Rock & Roll.
Man queen in the 70s was fucking awesome
Junior Ramirez I agree
It never fails to amaze me the power, passion and angst with which Freddie delivers Queens music. He must really save it all up and let it go on stage. Especially in contrast to his gentle character by nature. I saw the Rainbow Nov 74 DVD before I heard the albums Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack. These tracks sound almost sweet on the albums by comparison
I love Seven seas of the Rye !!!! Amazing song.
Wow. Just fking amazing!
Almost 50 years old and still can't be touched. Brilliant
The brilliance just overwhelms you, tragic that this sort of star power, stage presence and talent doesn’t exist anymore today.
True
When giants roamed the earth!!
Agreed.
3 of them still do!
This was some of the best of Queen 👑............Absolutely love Freddie what a entertainer he was just awesome, plus Roger...john....best bassist...Brian 🎶 they all rocked..........QUEEN.....❤❤❤❤
I really think that those classy Queen was the best!
Katya Lacrua The best band of the history!!!!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roger Taylor is an animal in drums !!!
Funny, I was just thinking that before even reading the comments!! He is so fierce!!
ABSOLUTELY one of my top fave videos! Freddie never looked hotter, he was so beautiful with his long hair & those outfits... Brian goes solo on his guitar showing his pure genius for his instrument, I can't get enough of them all in this video... no wonder they became so famous, there was no band out there that could touch a performance like this,
IT IS ROCK GENIUS that is now approaching 30 yrs & their music is still played every day in countries around the world & is the best rock there ever will be!
Queen at their best. One of the best live albums ever.
Oh my Freddie was awesome. I love this time frame too! The hair that makeup those clothes!
a band of excellent musicians and a theatrical presence
Looked down and saw my own comment here, 2 yrs. ago! Queen never, ever gets old. They are legends--the musicianship here is just extraordinary. Mesmerizing. Long live Freddie Mercury. Arguably the best rock ever recorded.
cracking sound......
my favourite queen era 74/80......
definitely see the Led Zep influences but they had their own unique take on it. Very fun.
Lol I think even zep was taking notes there.
@@llla_german_ewoklll6413 Definitely took notes during Live Aid xD
led zep fans sneer at Queen as if they are some inferior band 👑✊🇬🇧
...i still love you!
OMG how they played! Rock'n'roll!!!
Great! Thanks so much for posting this. I keep trying to find earlier and earlier performances.
You're welcome! This is the earliest recording known of a Queen concert in video.
You can also check the earliest audio recording of a Queen concert, which is when they played in the BBC: czcams.com/play/PLF0184D1D972F33D4.html
Thanks for commenting!
Magnificent
Wow this is some of the best live footage they have ever done
7:23 The most epic scene of this show.
Taylor and Deacon are one very tight rhythm section. They just lock onto each other and go for it.
Queen forever! Freddie my love forever!
OMG!! Fantastic!
Best version of Seven Seas of Rhye
Early Queen is best
The way Freddie grabs his Mic & Mic stand from next to the piano @7:10 is just amazing, suits the aggressive nature of Brian May's 'Son & Daughter' perfectly!
I was a teenager in the seventies. It was so fun. Music was awesome ! We just didn’t have today’s technology. We had to wait for the new copy of Circus magazine each month to see new pictures of our favorite Rockers !
real rock n roll
Amazing Show! Whoa👑
Wow!.. Thank you for this footage. This might really be Queen at their best.
who enjoyed singling out John Deacon's basslines?
Freddie Mercury would have made an interesting vampire....with the longish black hair and his mystical stage presence....Did anybody here ever read any of those Interview with the Vampire books?....There's one where Lestat wakes up from several centuries of sleep and he becomes a rock star. Lestat sings songs that wake up the other vampires. The Queen of the DAMNED....There was also a movie based on it.....Freddie Mercury would have been perfect for that part if the movie was done in the 70's.He wouldn't of had to act to much...just for the singing scenes with his awesome voice.
He sure would have...😈
Yes, he had this mesmerizing vampire look in the early years. I like THIS Freddie much better than his 80's version (short hair and mustache)
Your sick
Skip Jack Ffs what does that mean?
Mick rock has some beautiful photos of early queen. I also love every phase the band went through. Freddie said the band did renditions of their songs. If fans wanted the songs to b the same as the albums..they should stay home n play them.
awesome
Freaking awesome!!!
Always thought he looked exotic something new
Heidi Hopkins THAT's cause he WAS!
They mixed Brighton rock with son and daughter. How the hell does a band pull that off? There must have been a ton of improvisation in that right there.
I love you sir Brian may she very performance
I saw Queen in '78. Would have loved to have seen them in their earlier years. This is a great rendition of Seven Seas of Rhye!

Love this.
Freddie s on fire modern times rock n roll
i love Queen at the 70 s . Freddie rocks the universe.
3:24 "wot comes next?" 😍😍😍😍😍
~puta banda Queen é de mais
its like how they record their album and how they sing it live are two very different things!
That's because Queen never ever wanted to sound the same on stage as they do on their records. Live performances should ALWAYS be different, seeing a band live should be a whole new experience in terms of sound and visual. Otherwise you'd be as well just sitting at home and listening to their albums
1 primi tempi erano proprio roch i Queen. Bravi mi piacciono. Li conoscevo poco
Seven Seas is on the Sheer Heart Attack album released in Nov 1974...so that audio has to be from the Rainbow performance in November 1974.
What? No it's not. It's from Queen II. Jesus.
@@walover165 No, Jesus is from Queen

I SAW THIS VERY SAME TOUR IN PROVIDENCE RI WITH THIN LIZZY AS A BACK UP,,,HOLY COW
Did you happen to record it?
I hope one day the rest of the footage gets found and lovingly restored. This is really baby Queen, and they're fabulous. Interesting to note that there's no mic for John - so I wonder what changed between Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack (apart from the need for him to play the triangle in Killer Queen)?
GladiatorKnightGhost he cant sing. They keep his mic low
